Maybe there's been some backroom work, you never know. There should be a group of people who only get "Read Only" access to the Backroom, or something, at least. Like, a couple of mains for each character.

I really really really would like higher up grav. Brawl+ is nearly unplayable after tons of melee playing... Everything feels so slow...

Yea lol. Not to mention that Fast falls could use some improvement. That would be yet another way to lower hitstun. If you compare Falcon's FF for example, there is no comparison. 64 somewhat feels faster

Sage: Your post helped none. Yea B+ =/= melee but that isn't a reason to not improve jumps

Well some characters should be faster. The speed is so sloow idk. Like every character feels like I'm playing a variation of melee Peach, Zelda, or Jiggs. Just because brawl /= melee doesn't mean that we can't incorporate that. Everything else about brawl+ is so 64 like. The di is the same for every move in brawl+. In melee there was more variation in like everything.

I'm way too tired, lazy, and other influence affecting me, that I can't really explain it...

If we get the magus cancel, Bowser would get an astonishing benefit from it. He's not the only one either, I honestly hope we get m-cancel to test in a nightly soon.

I really don't see how it's "slow". Can you please explain your feelings to me?
You know when you play a sonic game and everything is super fast and then you go and play mario and things seem much slower. Yea..... that. Aside from the fact that Super Mario is a much better game.
Puts up flame shield

I dont see how you cant tell brawl is slower then melee. Do people really have to explain it? Go put melee in and see the difference.

I'm going to reiterate to you people what shanus said HOURS ago.

Plans are: release a new build that will last for a few months. Get some VERY good long term data on balance (meaning meta game must develop) while we work on revamping the gameplay over those several months. Yes, this means that the gameplay may change drastically in a lot of areas, gravity, hitstun, all that shebang you guys are currently "whining" about. We honestly cannot hold this set back because it would take a very long time to do a lot of the things we want to do to the gameplay. So, understand these few things first.

1. All of us have a life, school has started, people are working. Realize that most of us only have some odd hours in a day to do anything, and weekends can be spent on other things like hanging out with friends. Working on a gameplay revamp for the CURRENT set would be redundant, pointless, and more importantly wasted time because you guys would be sitting here waiting months on end.

2. We're still figuring out PSA, we're still looking at things with what we can do. This means: we are limited. If you cannot understand this, I am sorry, but, the people who CAN make new codes are way too busy right now to be doing any of that. This is yet another reason why a gameplay revamp cannot happen in this next release, not just because of time but also because of our resources.

3. We still have not exactly set what we're going to be doing. We haven't been able to talk amongst ourselves what our main idea or goal, so to speak, would be with a gameplay revamp. I'm not dismissing ANY of the ideas presented currently by saying this. I am only speaking of the truth.

So, with those three things in mind, you will all just have to put up with how the current gameplay is set up, lest you want to wait a couple of months for the next official set with an unpolished nightly build. In other words, yes, we are releasing a new official build soon. Like, VERY soon. Wouldn't you rather play with something polished for months on end rather than play with something that's obviously not complete yet and not ready for tourney play? I would hope you would rather play something polished than something incomplete.

So, please understand that when any of us say that we're working on something, it literally means we are working on something. It means that we can't go into details yet because we haven't discussed it yet therefore, haven't done much of ANYTHING yet as currently we are pushing this next build to be finished so we can actually get to work on that stuff you guys keep on bringing up every 20+ pages. To be honest, I'd like for it to stop on this page because it won't obviously be coming soon and talking about it seems pointless when I and shanus have already made you all VERY well aware that things will change while the official set is out.

Of course, during that period, there will be no more nightly builds, as yet again, shanus stated earlier. At least, not for a few months (meaning anywhere from 3-5 months from now).

Good day to you all.

Go play melee competitively and you'll see the difference.

Like some characters feel fine now... but others just feel so limited...

Some people think that since Brawl+ /=/ melee we shouldn't improve jumps. I don't know why since it slows done the game incredibly since smash is an aerial based fighter.

Edit: I'm not whining. I'd just think I'd like to see it implemented. Jceaser asked if people would like it and it received mostly positive responses. Just want to make sure that the wbr is considering it since I never saw a post specifically about it.

No need to write a essay. I too think that nightly's shouldn't be released as often. I think it's a bit early in the process to start doing that since there are still some characters that are receiving overhauls (Link, Falco, Ness, MK, and Snake?) and they are in the process of being completed, but w/e.

I know, I'm not complaining though.

And let's actually talk about other changes and stuff, this is starting to become a social thread. Sorry if this sounded mean; I didn't imply it to be.

EDIT: and youtube makes the game look faster than it really is too.

And Camelot, true, but I don't want to have to plead innocent by mental insanity in a Supreme Court case. Do you see what I'm saying?

No amount of "youtube speed up" can make brawl look like a fast game.

@ Smk- I'm liking what the WBR is doing. The game should be made to the best of our ability and if it takes mass amounts of time (which it will) then so be it. Lets develop a metagame and get a lot of play time in with this new nightly while all the physics changes can be dealt with. I only regret the future whining of half of the people who frequent this board on when it will be done.

Regardless, the new nightly is going to be amazing and well qualified to stick around a while. Watching you, cape and shell change some simple things really makes me appreciate the hard work that must be put into a game like this.

Um I see the speed difference. what are you talking about?

I see how brawl is a lot slower. I just dont get the whole reasoning behind brawl being "too slow".

Once again, I am sorry for my outbursts.

Although I still need more proof to the fact that Falcon needs nerfs. I mean one **** matchup isn't that bad....
His knee (in the 8/13 build) needs to be shrunk back to original size. It's seriously too easy to land, and I'm having a harder time landing the flub hitbox of it.

Otherwise he's fine.

Oh, I forgot about that. Yes, the knee needs to be tweaked. I like the reversible KB, but the sweetspot is too big.

I have a question.

Once the next official set is released, will this thread be locked for a while, to further allow the development of the metagame?

I'm pretty sure shanus or falco said this already...

Implying that it would be locked.

Hmm, why don't you revert the knee's sweetspot back to normal size, completely remove the flub hit (so there's only a hitbox on his knee), and make the sweetspot reversible?

um....the problems we are having trouble with is hitting with the flub cuz the sweetspot is too big. Removing the flub hit wouldn't exactly help XD

You know, I'm actually quite content with the speed of some of the characters already. I mean I wouldn't mind faster jumps, it's just that I'm not feeling this "slowness" as a problem for the characters I play. Yes it is slower than melee, but I don't really mind (Sonic is not exactly a "slow" character anyway, and Pit's got a nice playstyle for me. Heck, even Ike's speed seems appropriate for him.)

Some characters may not WANT to be faster (remember how giving Sonic a high momentum transfer backfired?) and I just hope you guys will recognize that and not get carried away with your speedup suggestions.
