Additional Info:
- Credit to Akuma for hosting this, I'm just posting results I have nothing to do with the organization!
- The other results thread posted was obviously a fake, lulz@people just quickly looking at the characters and posting Europe has a MK problem, you guys are hilarious.
- Kudos to Akuma for making this thread on the German boards so I could copy/paste half of it here :p
- Neither Brinstar nor Rainbow Ride was legal.
- Semifer auto-forfeited very early in winner's bracket because he didn't show up.
- Mid-tier finals weren't played because Leon had to catch his train, Luigi player also forfeited against Ravenlord.
- Random Characters Smashball Only High Teams Tournament was awesome, it was made up on the spot during the last night of the tournament when a lot of people were already gone.
- The people who placed first in Banned Stages & RCSOHTeams won 10€
- The Banned Stages tournament featured pretty much a Budget Player Cadet stage list. All legal stages were banned, it was a huge success! Stagelist: [COLLAPSE="Stagelist"]Starter:
- Jungle Japes
- Brinstar
- Rainbow Cruise
- Pictochat
- Green Greens

Lp forfeited against Semifer in Mid-Tiers.
And Amateur Winner also got 10€.

I think Banned Stages LF was also played out between Quik und Staco, but I dont know at all who won.
I only know that Mr-R splittet with the winner due to time problems.

Mr-R played a lot of MK (If not MK only) at this tournament, Staco played a lot of Falco+Japes afaik.

Pictochat is/was the new Smashville, it really was a lot of Pictochat, Japes too.

I wanted to make/update the thread :<

- I went full mk in the banned stages event.

- I went mk in singles pools, after that I didn't use him anymore.

oh and staco is one lucky ***** I was up 2-0 in gf coming from winners ( banned stages tourney ) but had to leave so i could catch my train :/ so we ended up splitting. AND the worst part is that our train was like 20 minutes late xD

I only really used DK in Singles Pools (and once against Ramin but got 2stocked xD). He shouldn't be next to Diddy.

In Mid Tier I used DK/Kirby.

Thanks Schwaaaa :)

Shoutouts time!

So gut man.
Luigi_player - sucked vs Marf ]:
Sword - ah, Lose gegen Xonar?

Und Gheb, keine SDs next time!

Akuma - nice Tourney.
Ravenlord - good **** im MT! :D Und gz, dass du Ramin besiegt hast!
reaper - du hast deine Ehre nicht wieder zurückgewonnen x) nice Set!
Repus - du bist also Repus!
Good ****, auch in Teams!
Staco - blöd gelaufen diesmal :\ gegen quik musst du dir echt was einfallen lassen!

Marc - was nice to see u again ^^ and fun teamfriendlies xD
Mr-R - too good man, too good. WAY too good xD! I hope I will catch up again. I liked the set from M2N better than this one xD Congrats on winning your next tourney. And your Link is so annoying :D fun friendlies too, and nice seeing you again =)
Orion - nooo, why do you leave without saying goodbye ;_; I'm sorry that I was doing so poorly this time in Teams ): Just when I was kinda feeling happy about being #1 Team in europe... ugh! Congrats on beating Leon and getting 2nd! Maybe someday we will have a tourney set too xD
Xonar - you kinda came out of nowhere, but you're still pretty good from what I saw! Didn't play, but it was nice meeting you ^^

Bjay - nice meeting you again :) sadly we only had friendlies, but they were fun (for me at least :D). Can't let Kunai win next time. Don't worry though everyone has some loses every now and then. Nice Mid Tier set too, your ROB is nice! Congrats for 1st in Teams. :x
Leon - congrats on 3rd, and first in Doubles/Mid Tier! You kinda ***** me this time :x I hope I will do better next time. Nice MT set, I hope you enjoyed it like me and that I was a good opponent for you, too bad the set was kinda SD happy xD

Crysis - echt nice, du beweist dich immer wieder.

King Funk - ugh, we didn't play again, sorry. At least we said hi and stuff xD was nice to meet you^^

It was a really nice tourney and it was fun seeing everyone again! :D

Top 2 belonged in the actual bracket (they were DQed there), as well as lots of forfeits as well as a split.

May sound a bit harsh but, who cares?

Fixing banned stages, Ramin vs Staco was the GF that was split, Quik just got 3rd.

These Marths need to come to the US and teach America how to play marth. Minus a few exceptions we don't seem to know how to.

It's kinda sad that when I finally go to a Brawl tournament, the thing I'm most excited about is the chance to play Melee friendlies lol. Guess Brawl just isn't really my game, hm.

I had fun though, and everyone I met was awesome, so thanks for hosting this, Akuma :)

Team random character with smashball on high was epic, more tournaments should host this kind of event!!! I especially like how it was supposed to be a it's-late-and-we're-kind-of-tired random side event for ****s and giggles and everyone was totally serious about it.

Probably Desti. Melee results are apparently not on the German boards (-_-), but I gave Chair what I remembered just now. Hopefully Akuma can provide the bracket and full results soon.

Not gonna do individual shoutouts, but the tournament was a good experience. It's been a while since I’ve played in a stacked one like this and visiting Berlin was something I really wanted to do too. Sweet venue (having showers is a huge plus!) and the side events at the end were just one big laugh. :) I wish more people had entered Melee though, kudos to those who did. Me, Luma and Faab had fun sets, I hope the other people who entered had fun with it too. As for Brawl, it didn’t really show in my placings (toughing it out in pools and winning a round in bracket sadly equates to little since all of losers bracket gets a bye first round), but I think I’ve improved a lot as opposed to Dogusch and this tournament put into perspective even more what I need to do to win. The question remains how much further I’m going to take this game, which depends on too many things at the moment to make a prediction on. Dutch finale for both Brawl and Melee btw, just saying… :troll:

Criticism: I think the seeding could have been better. Several pools were much easier than others and I think mine for example was overly hard (I passed just fine, so it’s not a john for anything). Not only did it have 7 people (AKA you have to win more) including Leon (AKA one of the hardest possible top seeds), as opposed to other pools I feel at least 2 out of 3 who didn’t pass would have in most other pools. I know pool imbalance is sort of inevitable, but even more than that I really don’t understand how the bracket came about. When you want to put 48 people in a 64-man bracket you would want to have three people per pool advance so in the first round first seeds get a bye and second/third seeds play each other. I absolutely have no clue how you created a bracket like that with FOUR people advancing per pool and I know for a fact several first round matches weren’t properly seeded at all (fourth seed vs fourth seed has happened). I originally had to play someone from my pools first round (which was thankfully changed), but I don’t understand how you get that from TIO in the first place since it checks for that automatically. I hope this criticism can be taken in a constructive way, I thought it too important to not bring it up for the future.

Marc, to tackle your critique I'd like to make you aware of several things:

- Region takes main priority over anything else. If you have to seperate ~7 players from Bavaria [Sic, Ravenlord, Oni, Bilo, Stiv, Cadet, Slay], 12 from Berlin and about 10 people from NRW into 12 pools just from germany alone it's going to be incredibly hard already to make well balanced pools.

- In addition it was also agreed upon to avoid pairings that already happened in the past as well as possible, especially for OoC people. If you have to seed everybody by region first already you're kind of running short of options. After taking only Region into account it was already really difficult to avoid repetition of past pairings.

- Some players are just hard - if not impossible - to seed correctly right on the spot. Players like Repus, Skety or Serudos never have been at bigger tournaments [or not in a long time] so there was a chance for such players to make a bracket much harder than anybody could have possibly anticipated.

I think taking these factors into account the seeding was quite acceptable. If you still have complaints I'd appreciate if you could name concrete examples of where things actually went wrong. I agree that 48 people in 64-man bracket isn't a good idea - with an amateur bracket a 32 man pro-bracket would've been much more stacked and the amateur-bracket would actually have a couple of interesting players in it and it could've been a worthwile parallel competition to the regular bracket. I will definitely bring this point up for future tourneys.

Unless the German regions are actually really tight separate communities, I don't see why regional seeding should have priority if it means certain pools are going to be way out of line.

Ruining tournaments for some people who otherwise would've made it out of pools is on an entirely different level than 'ruining' tournaments for people because they were in a pool with someone from their region.

Unless the German regions are actually really tight separate communities, I don't see why regional seeding should have priority if it means certain pools are going to be way out of line.
But that's the case. Bavaria, Berlin and NRW have little interactions outside of german [inter-] national tourneys - the difference among these regions is close to their difference to austria or netherlands.

Ruining tournaments for some people who otherwise would've made it out of pools is on an entirely different level than 'ruining' tournaments for people because they were in a pool with someone from their region.
And who would that be? If any such case happened I'm pretty sure it's not because of the regional seeding but because we simply underrated a player's skill due to ignorance of his abilities.

Regional seeding is important, but shouldn't come at the cost of skill seeding. You don't do one of the two, you do both. I have to say regional seeding seemed fine since no Dutchies played each other, but I can't comment on the German regions or the extent to which you're justified manually separating them. Besides underrating people, I think the difference between a 7-man and 6-man pool hasn't been fully appreciated. The first is significantly harder to get through and if you compare (for example) my pool to some 6-man pool where you're already in bracket for beating some low tier user and someone's kid brother, that's imbalanced. Pools are hard to seed though, so it's not something I'm too caught up on otherwise. My biggest issue is with the usage of the bracket.

I'm a fan of the 48-man bracket for three reasons:
1. It's a good incentive to aim for first seed, since it will get you a bye.
2. It lets a good amount of people enter the bracket, while 32 is very stacked/hard and 64 is too many.
3. Seeding is extremely easy and straightforward if you respect TIO and don't switch people around with different seeding.

However, in order for it to work perfectly, three people per pool need to advance: first seeds get a bye, second and third seeds play each other first round. I don't understand why there were 12 pools with 4 people advancing, rather than 16 smaller ones with 3. This would also have saved a lot(!) of time for the tournament, since even adding one person to a pool means many more matches. As a result, seeding seemed extremely arbitrary for first round outside of the top seeds and you only got the drawback of the system (the bye in losers messing with low results) and less of the benefits. I even dare say that after top 12 results seem somewhat random and it's probably a result of pools only being used to distill 48 people and the top seeds. I know lower seeds played lower seeds first round, so I can only assume several people got a harder first round than they should have had. At the end of the day the highest money placers are never really affected by this sort of thing, but it's about being fair to everyone.

Finally, I offered to help out with this before the tournament, but was never taken up on it other than being a pool leader. That's fine with me, but that's why I'm putting an emphasis on it now.

marc, thats been a problem with like every brawl tournament (and some melee ones aswell)
they dont ask for help, somehow they expect us to help them out from our own

some people are nice enough to do this (like we didnt even saw each other on saturday because i was behind the computer the whole ****ing day without beeing asked to) but thats not the way its supposed to be

and since i was there aswell when the bracket was done i know the obvious mistakes, they only watched for 1st/2nd seeds but they didnt really cared about the 3rd/4th seeds when making it

Yeah, I remember we already discussed this briefly on Sunday. It's unfortunate and got in the way of us playing more Melee. :p

Sorry about that. I johned about unexistent lag because I was furious with my performance in Melee overall. But I can't expect much after traveling and not playing for two weeks, playing lots of Brawl events right after it.

It was really enjoyable though, I should have played you. =(

Shoutouts later again.
