In order to limit the traffic on the main thread for codes for the USA RSBE version of Brawl, I have created another topic for helping answer questions about the codes.

In this thread, you may post any questions you want answered about the codes and hacking, more specifically, about Brawl USA codes.

You are not allowed anymore to ask questions in the original thread, but you may post new codes that you find. please post new codes there first.

Brawl USA RSBE Codes thread: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=209575

Download latest Gecko OS: http://brkirch.googlepages.com/Gecko191.zip

FAQ (Growing)
1. Lines = 256

2. You can Brawl on stages from the SSE and more with stage model swapping. One stage's data gets replaced onto another stage which you can normally play on. You can easily find people who have replaced the files, and have distributed them, or you can do it yourself via BrawlBox.

3. Similarly, you can play as Bosses only if someone replaces the model/texture (and animations) of the boss onto a character for the game to load up. though this method is glitchy, people can refine a boss character to be playable with refining its attributes using BrawlBox's Animation editor and Project Smash Attacks (PSA)

4. Most every code is meant for use with Ocarina. No USB gecko needed.

5. Buying the USB gecko device is the only way you can find values, make your own codes, and such. Ocarina runs the codes.

5. The codes I have posted are only for the USA (RSBE) version of brawl. So far, PAL and Japan are not posted on smashboards.

6. This is not the place for any code requests. Very few people on smashboards have a USB gecko, even I don't have one.

7. This is not where you get "started". This thread is for support and help.

8. Never ask about brawl matches with more than 4 players. the short answer to your question is NO.

9. Very few codes work correctly on wifi, chances are improved if every opponent has the same codes put on, but still, many codes will still not work

10. Luigi's mansion is not working, Wifi is not working, matches freeze upon start (might also be due to overloaded codes, see below), or cannot change music probability sliders: This is a "My Music Corruption" due to some music modifier codes. To fix, use the "Music Reset" codes for the messed up stages, and it should get fixed.

11. Some texture swaps/Moveswaps/other codes that change stuff in the game, can cause freezing to the game, sometimes it's because the game recieves error when trying to replace certain thing, for example, moveswapping a character who CAN crawl with a moveset of a character who cannot will always cause freezeing when attempting to crawl with that character, if it's the other way around, you just won't be able to crawl. but many game changes can cause the system to freeze. removing the codes should make things work again.

Yeah I was annoyed by reading all of the questions in the other thread. Good idea with this thread.

Is your thread the main place to look for getting started?
I've not payed much attention to previous hacks, but I want wavedashing ^ ^;
Where can I go to get started, or for a tutorial of the basics?

Question #1.

Any way to tell how many lines of code you have?
256 is pretty low :/

And do these work in
Wi-fi?
The updated code manager shows how many lines of code you currently have. And, these codes (except ones that say Wi-Fi next to them) don't work online unless your opponents have the codes as well.

meleemaster500, I recommend adding the Gecko OS 1.07 + Ocarina download link so people don't download the standalone Ocarina (it's no longer supported). Gecko OS 1.07 + Ocarina fixes the SD Card issue and the date issue. Some codes also may not work for standalone Ocarina but, will work for Gecko OS 1.07 + Ocarina. Please copy and paste what I linked to and put it into the first post along with the code manager link in this post so people don't have to search for this stuff and ask about it. It makes this thread less trafficky with questions about getting started.

Completely Edited my post.

And although the OCARINA (non-gecko) really isn't "supported" in a sense, some recent Brawl Codes are having trouble with the Gecko OS. Yes, adding a link to 1.07 is a definite must, but I'd thought I should let others know that the stand-alone Ocarina can be used for "back-up" purposes, as some codes tend to glitch with Gecko OS 1.07 in an uncommon fashion.

And I don't know about anyone else, but I find OCARINA to load faster than Gecko OS.

I think Brawl hacks should get it's own forum, this could get big....with requests, setups and what not.

Anyways

I will give 5 dollars to anyone who can make a "patch" hack in where
Links recovery gives him more height and horizontal reach Link-s arrows have hitstun and links n-air has hitstun ,ganondorfs dtilt and n-airhas hitstun, falcons dtilt, ftilt and n-air have hitstun.

I dont know exactly how I'll do that (5 dollars for wii games?)...but I would.....as soon as I edit my wii =P...........

the only thing i dont really understand is how do hax ruin wifi...

if brawl only let you play in vs friends mode would you release wifi hax ?

it just seems like the main reason no one gives out wifi hax is because a select few hackers are but-hurt over people usin wifi hax on metroid -_-

brawl is not metroid and only people who don't understand the replay value hacks give people complain about them ruining stuff

What the? You posted the exact same thing on my Youtube Channel! Which I deleted, btw, as I don't condone wi-fi hacking.

Also, if you REALLY want to hack wi-fi, you can always learn to hack yourself. Its not that hard, really. Then you can have all the wi-fi hax fun you want (although hopefully not).

yea, i find that hacking offline is more fun (unless u want to screw around with random people once or twice). i know its off topic, but hacking has ruined MKWii online, with everyone using unlimited bullet bills and stuff. im fine with hacking online to have fun with friends, but hacking to win gives a message to people that u have to hack to win and cant win on your own

i might make a faq some time on like this first post, to send all those with relitivly simple/common questions, so we can just say "READ THE FIRST POST" instead of needlessly answering a question 5 times.

I don't see the point in allowing a damage ratio modifier online, but not other codes.
Damage ratio modifier can make you win in about 5 seconds. Perhaps codes could be limited to with friends mode?

Could someone please explain this formula for the "My Music" Modifier code? It says to replace XXXX with what you get after Stage Offset + (Track number - 1) * 8.

So you use algebra in this case, right? Which in my case turns out to

738 + (26F9 - 1) * 8

738 + 26F8 * 8

738 + 137C0 = 13B38

Which isn't correct, since I'm filling in four digits and the answer came out to five . Could someone tell me what I'm messing up on?

Just thought I'd let you guys know, some of those codes work online other than the ones specified for it. Not just on your screen, but on everyone elses without desynchronizing them.

Hey, I know the moveswap code is quite old, but I thought I'd tell you guys the Alloys can moveswap with no freezes at all. You can get interesting results. However, 2 swaps I've done with the Red Alloy froze the game when I even tried to move (Samus and Fox, I started in a T-stance). What I find interesting about them is that they actually have an entrance if you use on the fly swap with them while the stage is loading.

hey, the codes for wifi have been made, and most likely are online. for me, i am indifferent on the codes i post in the "mega list" i've created. however i'm not one to search everywhere just to find a code that some people are hesitant on putting up. which is also why those codes generally are not posted onto forums. I think that codes do in most ways make wifi pretty unfair considering that people have not agreed to a hacked match, and therefore are only expecting a completely fair regular match, for things like training or whatever. since i am indifferent to the codes posted, i have even the damage ratio modifier for wifi posted, since i must have found it on a common site i go finding these codes from. and codes cannot (easily) be limited to "with friends" mode.

So, do you have to have USB Gecko for all of this, or can you get away with some of the codes with just Ocarina? I saw someone say most of the codes don't work with just Ocarina, so on that topic... What codes work with just Ocarina?

And lastly, I can't find that blasted 'no tripping' code in that massive list.

I4. For most all of these codes, you can use only Ocarina. (maybe rebooter codes you need usb gecko, but those codes aren't on my list yet anyway)
Bolded: No, you don't need a USB Gecko for the rebooter, it's called Gecko OS which is a free application that contains an UPDATED Ocarina (allows use of SD Card while playing and the date is fixed) I've told you this before Meleemaster, they're different! >_<

In fact, Link did a great blog post about this, I want you to read it.

but what how do you use rebooter!?!
Open Gecko OS 1.07 in the Homebrew Channel, click B to use the Rebooter. Under Rebooter options (before you press B) are a few settings you can apply, including the "load codes" option or whatever when you reboot. It's all fairly simple...

On a personal experience, I noticed a very limited amount of no-wifi codes tend to work online, but no more than 1-3 minuted before you

1)Desync
2)Disconnect

Hence, no wi-fi tag

So, do you have to have USB Gecko for all of this, or can you get away with some of the codes with just Ocarina? I saw someone say most of the codes don't work with just Ocarina, so on that topic... What codes work with just Ocarina?
Most codes DO work with Ocarina, but there are still plenty of codes that can't be released because of its incompatibility with Gecko OS/Ocarina.

I don't know if I should be saying this, but a hack that allows you use more than 1-player on WITH ANYONE mode has already been found/created, but it CANNOT BE USED OUTSIDE OF WiiRD.

And it probably won't be released to the public anyway, for the sake of TEAM UPs on wi-fi.

Always check for three things.

1) Do you have ANY other codes on? If so, what codes?
2) Is it at the TOP of the list? Some times, codes don't work if they're below a certain code (although, this shouldn't be the case).
3) Is your code right? Check for errors.

You can also post the code (in CODE TAGS of course) here and someone, including myself, can check for errors. If the code ends up being clean, then its obviously something else that is causing the problem. In my experience with the Code Manager, I sometimes forget to select a check-box, so the code won't transfer to the SD Card.

Okay, try putting Super Samus ABOVE the Infinite up B code and see if it works then. If it does not, remove infinite up b completely.
