Hi guys, how's it going?
i think i was confused with downloadable DS demos
http://wii.ign.com/articles/826/826152p1.html
i could swear i read downloadable wii game demos somewhere on the web.
currently it's just not possible to do that. the wii's internal memory is laughably constrained, but if nintendo updates the wii with support for external harddrives (something that will have to happen, particularly with WiiWare coming up), then they could in theory release game demos for free.

however, if i know nintendo, they wont do that because it's too convenient.

I do not care who gets the demo. As long someone gets it so it can be leaked and posted all over the internet so everyone will have it =D.

I have two wii's one with my modchip and a legit one for when I take to tournaments and etc.

So if it does come out before release I will have fun playing it :D.

That probably wont happen, the Download Channel has yet to be released in the US, and the game comes out in a month for those who live in Japan.

Guys, I need a demo. I don't know if I want to buy the game or not and I'd like to try it out first.
let me make this clear to you, if you own a wii, and yet neglect to purchase Smash Bros Brawl asap. you're not thinking clearly. JUST BUY IT. YOU'D BE MAD NOT TO!

probably just a trailer type thing like metroid. if you are going to download a playable demo, it will be to much on the wii memory. and the wii memory is like nothing compared to one a demo data size is.

The Wii lacks the internal memory needed for a demo

Well, If the Demo is larger then 512 MB...Then yea Wii can't hold it.

Unless..They made a downloadable demo, and stated the Demo was around 2 Gigs, meaning you would have to buy extra space for it. Then the demo downloads to the memory card/sd/etc.

Well Devil May Cry 4 is getting a demo on January and it comes out on the beginning of Feb. so...:O Who knows XD

But I think Europe REALLY deserves a demo o_o
Exactly. We have a winner. Europeans and Australians deserve the demo, indefinitely.

Europe would get a demo that the US doesn't? Wouldn't bother me one bit. You guys have to wait longer for the game anyway, so a demo would be nice.
Same here.

There will never be a playable demo for brawl because there isn't enough room on the Wii's internal memory and because Nintendo is run by a bunch of apes.

However, I think another Preview channel like Metroid Prime 3 is in order. There isn't tons of footage of this game, and what there is is very low quality and with little/no sound.
You must be joking. When Nintendo is making a demo channel (that COMES OUT IN MARCH!), you know the Wii has enough memory. If Nintendo can release game demos, they can release Brawl demos. Therefore, you logic fails, and a demo could happen. But I wouldn't bet on it. Although, if a Brawl demo does come, it is probably for PAL-only, though. And it could possibly be only available for play for a short while, or something (like the Halo 3 BETA).

No chance.

The Metroid 3: Prime demo came AFTER the game was released.
LOL! The Metroid Prime 3: Corruption demo movie thingy came out two or three weeks BEFORE Metroid Prime 3: Corruption's release.

Except the survery says 'shop channel', which is probably the most interesting thing of all.

Anyways, lack of internal memory is bull****. They aren't going to release the full game and place a timer on it or something. They'll just release a demo with a title screen, a character selection screen with a couple of characters (think like 4-8 characters), a few stages (1-5), some of the items (crates, bob-ombs etc), and maybe even allow us to switch between time and stock.
SSBB - FMVs - characters - stages - items - just about everything else = not big.

LoL listin guys you are all saying that it's a little late for a demo but maybe you should think about the people who don't know yet to buy the game. Example: I can still download a demo of "Grim Fandango" on internet. So that says that demos are likely to come (im not saying it would be Brawl it could be any other game). And look at the DS demo pod. I have one right around the corner in a shop called Next Level in holland and i can play several demo's there. And when im done it gets deleted from my DS.

That could be the same thing they are going to use in the Wii Demo's.

Again changing the title is a little weird though. I mean, maybe they are still gonna release a demo a month later when the game is actually released? And maybe the Americans dont get a demo at all? Is that possible? Can you think about that? Actually from what i read: no you guys cant. Think about the people in Europe. We got melee 6 months later so a demo in Europe would be nice? Yes?

Again the capability is not a problem for demo's. They just get deleted as soon as you are done.

And according to the survey NoE released they are actually going to release demo's soon. Why would they even add that possibility in the survey when they are still planning to make demos?

No, not if you need to re-download it every time you want to play the demo. It would be awkward and stupid, as well as a complete waste of time. And the fact that melee's six month release delay to Europe and Australia being completely irrelevant to Brawl doesnt help the case.

Brawl will be polished, and complete, unlike Melee, which was rushed towards the end (Gannondorf is a perfect example of this.)

I know many want a demo, but honestly, coming from an Aussie -
Tough sh*t, suck it up, we're in it together.

dude there won't be a brawl demo
THAT IS A DEFAULT OPTION IN THE SELECTION BAR
jesus you guys know nothing about web design
What (unless you were being sarcastic)? The web designers for Nintendo have to ADD that option before it becomes available for people to choose. There would be no reason for them to add that option if they weren't planning on releasing demos for games in the future.

dude they have a template like the one shown for all games
they just re-use the template dude

of course they had to add the option
but they did it a long time ago when they first created the template
it is just an error that that option was shown under brawl
not exactly an error, more like carelessness

Do I think it is required-no, and with the release date coming so close I would think a playable demo would be unorthodox, but I think we may get a video demo (ie Prime 3)
What about europe? For europe there is no release date in sight, I've even heard we might not be getting it until June or July 2008 :(, So I think a demo is required for europe anyway.

I hope they make a brawl demo for europe.....it would be a real slap in the face to read on smashboards about people from america who are having a great time playing brawl while people in europe have to wait months longer. :urg:

Don't expect a demo because Nintendo doesn't need one.

The game is going to be huge anyway.

And what would a demo really have? 1 or 2 characters and 1 level?

Its not really worth Nintendo's time.

1. The Metroid Prime Preview Channel is being removed and will be completely gone/unsupported within a few days.

2. The Wii harddrive is 512mb. That's barely enough to fit a small demo (based on sizes on other systems) if you have all the space available.

It's unclear if removing the Preview Channel is to make room for something else or if it's just being removed as it's not needed. I personally don't think we'll see a demo.

I will say my oppoion again

You are clinging to strings here. We will NOT get a Brawl Demo, SUCK IT UP.

Honestly guys, 40 days, thats it, more for those in other locations, but come on. You will not get a Demo for Brawl, do not get your hopes up. Not like there would be a point anyway. I doubt they would realese a demo 20 days before the Japanese release. Don't pull the "Metroid Prime 3" thing on me. If Nintendo really wanted to give a demo of some kind, they would have made one for Galaxy. They may do it for titles that are not as well known as others, to increase sales. But I think most people who are going to buy Brawl already know about it.

That's not what I was referring to. I'm referring to the fact that they would not even have the option available for ANY game if they weren't eventually going to put demos on the Wii. As far as there being a Brawl demo, I doubt there will be one. What I was saying was that if they had no intention of ever putting any demos on the Wii then they would not have their web designers add the option to ANY game, not just Brawl.
I'm a webmaster so believe me when I say I DO know about web designing.

A random person who doesn't know how awesome SSBB is walks into the store:
"Hey...'Super Smash Bros. Brawl'....hmm, meh. Hey! Super Mario Galaxy! I heard Mario games are really good! I think I should try this game."

I do think Brawl is more in need for a demo than Galaxy is. Mario is so famous that everybody knows it's a good platformer. On the other hand, Super Smash Bros. is only famous with Nintendo fans - I know plenty of gamers who know almost nothing about Super Smash Bros.

Ooops! Looks like you forgot that there are only playable DS demos up for download which don't save to the wii's memory, and you stream all the videos that come out on that channel so that also won't save to the wii's memory.

Learn what the channel is before you try and call me an idiot.
