Boomerang catch?

Hello, I'm new here and didn't find a tech thread, but having recently picked Toon Link up I noticed that catching the boomerang will allow you to input any neutral position attacks while dashing. For example, it lets you do an instant standing grab, jab or tilt out of dash. Or switch the direction you are running if you want.

Does anyone feel like this kind of thing is useful? I do find the running up-tilt to be somewhat good, if only to confuse the opponent.
