I don't mind it. I'm actually glad that they changed it up and went for a brighter background instead of a dark one like in Melee.

Even if it does look bland, does it even matter? You'll be playing the game most of the time anyway.

There are big colorful icons with symbols and laid out in interesting formats, If anything, melees options felt more clinical.
I can agree with this. Now that I think about it, Melee's menu was almost depressing. I'd probably take Brawl's cheery and "interesting" menu layout over Melee's any day. And I don't remember Smash 64's menu being that great either.

Mmm, we'll probably just get used to it. We've been playing Melee for so long that the menus aren't so exciting anymore. But in your case, I guess I can see why you think it looks a little bland.

well, you did say you didn't play melee much, but for the rest of us, when we have a smash fest, after you press start that first time, you're at the vs mode screen so fast, you have to wonder what the heck just happened. We got so accustomed to choosing vs mode that our fingers move at lightning speed so that you get off of the menu as fast as possible so it doesnt matter what it looks like in Brawl

I don't really care that much, though it is nice to have a bright background, as we've had dark ones since 1999.

It'll probably look cooler when you see it in motion, assuming the background moves like it did in Melee.

Heck, I think the Brawl menu style is exciting and unique. I love it. Beats the depressing look of Melee anyday, in my opinion.

i seriously disliked the melee menus and am so glad that brawl want with brighter, more wii like menus.

brawl's menus seems a lot more like the wii's atmosphere than melee's..which is good IMO

I like Brawl's menu better than Melee's, but like other people said, its probably because we've played Melee so long. I actually really liked Melee's menu a lot when I first played, but now it is kind of boring.

I think I prefer this menu more than Melee's I've always wondered why it had a dark , and kinda unorganized User Interface design. In both of the first games ,gladly in this one they brightened things up and added various colors . This design also seems more organized and manageable, even the SSBB website looks more colorful than Melee's that I just happen to stumble upon). In conclusion SSBB UI seems to be way more better with icons, and colors, and a description of each mode. You can clearly see a difference between the two games.

While I don't seem to dislike Melee's menu as much as some people, I certainly do enjoy the new menu. I especially like the menu icons that remind me of the icons from Portal.

I wonder if I can have a Cake icon in Brawl somewhere.

It's not so much the colors that get to me, but the layout. It seems oddly placed, and I still don't understand why they labeled single player and multi-player as the "Solo" and "Group" modes for some reason.

hm

I much prefer the Melee menus to these lousy bright menus. They could be improved with a waffle :

I like Melee's menus better than Brawls so far. Brawl's just seem a bit TOO bright and cheery. Just imagine going form that screen to a vs match with Bowser, Ganondorf, Mewtwo, and Ridley. I guess Sakurai's trying to encourage us to get off the menus and into the actual game as soon as possible. :chuckle:

Also, I don't know why people are calling Melee's menus "unorganized". There was a window that showed you what your current choice would lead to, so it seemed easy enough to follow for me.

In any case, I just hope no one here is going to hate on the game because of a menu. At most, I might deduct one-hundreth of a point for it.

Brawl is more colorful and inviting, but Melee's was honestly more organized. the options aren't vertically a lined like in the past. The Brawl menu on the other hand seems designed for the Wii pointer, yet Sakurai has been putting emphasis on using the GCN controller. I foresee awkward moments where people can't get to options as quickly as they'd like.

It really won't matter though. I'm not going to complain.

It was definitly inspired by Kirby Air Ride...

Infact, it looks just like it.... (With the exception of game modes, background, and different pictures)

Yes, I thought that too... and then about the part in KAR were you could check your accomplishmens, and how to obtain certain things(the little boxes). Do you think that will be in Brawl?
