Big question about memory!

I really need help. On Melee, me and my brothers (there's 4 of us that play) have our own files on our own memory cards. But can the same thing be done with SD cards using Brawl, or just any Wii game in general? I need to know so I won't waste $30 on something that's useless. Also, can you have 2 seperate files from two SD cards. And can you have a file on an SD card and the Wii? I really don't want to share a file and hear my little bros unlock Ridley before me on my file. Please help.

Lol that's so childish of you!

Although I freak out if my bro were to unlock anything on ANY of my games lol so i can relate.

You will probably be able to have seperate files don't worry.

I wish you could choose your Name (controller config profile) when you start the game so you could have different profiles. That way if you shared it, you wouldn't have to worry. But this doesn't bother me because I'm the only person in my house who plays videogames.

Generally speaking, saves can be transferred freely to the SD card and you can do whatever you want with them on a PC. It would be a pain to switch back and forth though so you're better off just hoping Brawl allows profiles with separate unlockables. Also, technically some games don't allow you to copy saves to an SD so there's no guarantee that Brawl will, but it's pretty likely.

Does anyone know if there are seperate save files, maybe with your name?

Just play with your little bro. There's no point in having multiple files if it's a multiplayer game. Besides most characters are unlocked through SSE, which is two player :\.

No one said Ridley was in brawl -_-

SSE is NOT 4-player though. that means I would need at least 2 files, with 2 people on each.

not wanting to share memory cards sound a bit greedy. im sure you should be able to switch sd cards. id rather share the data and have all the characters faster. we have melee on more then 1 memory card but that is to have a backup in case the data gets corrupted. to fix your memory issue you can just buy 3 more wiis and 4 brawl games. there problem solved. i wouldn't mind having 2 wiis and 2 smash games because we have 2 different internet connections at my house.

I don't want to be greedy, but I don't want my little brothers to ruin Ridley for me. And if all of us shared SSE, then it wouldn't be fun and would be skipping chapters. Also, we can barely afford christmas, so I don't want to waste $.
Besides, that doesn't answer my big Q.

Sorry I didn't see you post that you had 3 brothers :\.

Just take turns. No need to be greedy about it. if they have multiple files then they have multiple files. If not then deal with it.

Why are you guys jumping all over his a** over this? So him and his brother both want to unlock things seperately, what's the big deal? A good portion of the games' fun is unlocking things.

But yes, I am dang near positive you can keep two files when using an SD card.

Is that two seperate files on one SD card? If that's true, someone tell me. I can share with one of my bros, at the most.

If the sd cards work, then no only one account will go one it. Either way, I don;t see how it's possible. You have memory that saves onto the wii, not the sd card.

Umm. Well in brawl, We haven't heard of having multiple accounts, therefore.. how can we have save data on the s.d cards if wii games automatically save on the wii? Even if you somehow copy the wii data onto the s.d. card, whenever you play brawl, it will take the data from the wii, and not the sd card.

The only way you could have multiple accounts is if you swap the two brawl datas between the s.d card and the wii

for example:

Let's say brother 1&2 start playing ssbb first. They will have their save datat automatically sent to the wii.
Let's say brother 3&4 start to play. They have to transfer brothers 1&2's data onto the s.d card, so that they can play their file.
Now let's say brother 1&2 want to play again. They have to switch brother's 3&4's data to the sd card and send their date back onto the wii.

I hope you undertsood that because I can't make it any clearer (not implying that what I said is really clear).

That's fine. I could do that. But can I make two different files on one SD card?

I don't think so.. Could you on a memory card? (That didn't have the option to have multiple accounts)

Just seems like a big hassle to me. You guys should all be in the same room playing together when you unlock stuff. Its a party game, you're supposed to do it together.

Either that, or don't be so uptight about characters and stuff. So what if one of your brothers unlocks something instead of you? Make it a group effort, instead of turning it into a single player game. If you all work together, you can get all the unlockable stuff faster, which equals more fun!

Stop doing that. No one knows.. Everything everyone answers you with is, and will be speculation until the game is out.

EDIT: Sorry, I'm full of typos today. :\.. I edited the post lol.

IIRC, in Melee you could only have 1 save file on a memory card. You'd probably need 3 SD cards and the Wii flash drive to do all 4 files seperately.

Do your brothers care about not having stuff unlocked on their files? You could just save one file on the Wii drive for them 3 and one on your SD card for yourself.

UR a genius, but what's a Wii flash drive? Not a big computer/console person, just a Brawl one in the same sense.

So what are you going to do once you guys all individually unlock everything? Just pick someone's file and decide to use it from then on?

Do you see how stupid this sounds?

A Wii flash drive is the internal 512 megs of memory it has. It's like a hard drive, but it's technically flash memory, so I call it the flash drive. It comes with the Wii

We all want to try unlocking everything so the game will last 4 times longer for all of us. Plus, my brothers are 8, and yet they are up 24/7, laugh at ANYTHING, don't play with me, and ALWAYS run around.

Thanks. I guess I will have my own file on an SD card, with the little bros having Wii memory.
If anyone knows anything else, tell me. Otherwise, close this.

Whats the point of having different memory cards for brawl -_-

just use 1
Because they all want to unlock all the characters on their own.

He said: "I really dont want to find out my little bros unlocked Ridley before me" I'd guess he means that if they have to use the WIi System memory, his bros could unlock the characters, and he'd never have had the chance.
