Hotels:
Red Roof Inn University of Michigan South: 5 miles away from the venue, ~$65/night.
Days Inn Ann Arbor: 4 miles away from the venue, ~$80/night.
Red Roof Inn University of Michigan North: 2 miles away from the venue, ~$85/night.

Michigan Flyer: cheap bus, $22 round-trip, for those flying in who need to get from DTW to Ann Arbor.
Make sure you set your starting location as Detroit Metro Airport (MI) and your destination to Ann Arbor (Central Campus Transit Center).

This is fun and I' am looking forward to play this in the future. I love online games so I wanted to try this tournament. Thank for sharing this information. You did a wonderful job in your stand.

I'll be flying in the night before the tourney (estimated time of arrival is 11:59 PM Oct. 5) and it looks like the Michigan flyer doesn't run that late, so I'll need another way of getting to Ann Arbor. My return flight leaves at 9:50pm Oct. 7 and there is a bus that leaves the central campus transit center at 7:25pm and gets to DTW at 8:30pm, so that shouldn't be an issue, though.

I also need to figure out my housing situation. I'd like to stay at a smasher's place, but if that's not an option, I'm open to staying in a hotel.

I'm flying in on Thursday, at about 1:30 PM, to DTW. Transportation to a smasher's place would be the best (and I can sleep pretty well in tight corners :D ) but I'm willing to get a flyer ticket to some pre-arranged pick-up spot.

Any takers? I will pay you with friendlies (and gas money).

I'd be willing to pick you up from the airport and split a hotel among you and a couple others.
The hotels listed in the op should be housing a plethora of smashers, so having somebody to hang with or play shouldn't be a problem.
