Hopefully, this thread will give us something new to talk about. Also, if this topic has already been discussed, then forgive me. Here it goes!

One thing I've noticed while playing Melee, I noticed how the character I'm pummeling to a pulp with electricity, pyrotechnics, and dark magic. However, the character's clothing/fur/skin (even at crucial battle damage) is as if I did no damage to them at all. So I ask the question: Will we see battle ravaged characters on Brawl, and if not, should we?

Perfect Example: On the Dragonball Z Budokai Tenkaichi series, if your character gets hurt to a certain extent, the clothing becomes torn and burnt, or if it's a creature, ash starts to radiate from them.

Any thoughts? Discuss.

Honestly I think it'd be a great addition to the game, and would feel much more satisfying to see your opponent battered and bruised. ^_^

seeing as how smash bros is such a cartoony fighting game it seems unlikely also since every character has a diffrent style (like how mario is supposed to be a full grown man and is the same height as lucas who is a little boy) it wouldn't work.
Ya huh it would. Just for the children of Smash, Sakurai could make it as if they came outta Ground Zero and there you go.

Yeah, that would be a little nice touch, and bring the graphics rating up. =P

It's probably not going to happen, since at E for All it didn't have that feature. Unless, after E for All and tehy did some changes.

I had this same idea, but I wanted the characters faces to be damaged...the faces that are by the percentages and icon. I like how Masahiro added those and I wanted them to get beat up faces.

I think it would be nice if they had 'tired' animations past 100% or so, but otherwise nah.

Not meant to be Smash...

Go play with your dragonballz if you want that
Settle down theire cowboy. Ya don't gotta be all rude with ya posts and what not. Pfft....

@Envy, that'd satisfy me. Still though, like these other fellas said, it'd really showoff the graphics, be more realistic, and the Wii could really show you it's true power with graphics in all of it's entirety.

*Imagine Master Hand having the rubber burnt off his glove and it shows some skin...or dark matter seeing how it's not a human hand.*

I wouldn't mind seeing something like bruises or seeing their skin be little darker after being hit by a fire-based attack. Heck, there actually is something like this in Mario Strikers: Charged, and if a Mario game can have it, I don't see why Smash Bros can't.

Remember the fighting wire frames? With that as the "skeleton" of our characters, I often visualized it may be neat if, instead of brutality in the ravaging from the damage they take, they bend out of shape and dent, as though they actually were built around a wire frame.

I've always explained the knockback as the characters being Toy's, not flesh and Blood. Something with the structural integrity of an action figure would have one hell of a time damaging something it's own toughness, so the knock back happens instead.

The idea could be cool, but frankly I don't need some kid pausing mid match because peaches dress is torn into bits and he wants a screenshot of her belly button to use later on. Just doesn't fit with smash.

Maybe not the bruising.
Maybe small fires sticking to them after getting hit with a fire attack.
Maybe a cartoonish "blackened body" after getting hit with a bomb.
High damage making tripping more likely.
Making techs harder.
Some skeleton-based "ragdoll" flinches.

Ohhhh....I...forgot about that one.:lick: But perves and grownups are probably gonna do it too. Still, Sakurai doesn't have to make the girls of Smash "reveal" anything if ya know what I'm sayin;).

Well, this game is rated Teen if the box art we've seen is correct, and I doubt the Wario Waft alone is the reason.

It would be interesting but I'm pretty sure nobody wants to see Pikachu with a black eye.
