Bair without leaving the platform

So I know the traditional form is to try to get a video of it, but I've been unable to replicate it. I was playing on battlefield in training with a ness in the center of the left platform and I was running off to bair and it hit the ness but I stayed grounded on the platform. Does anyone know what this is, what's causing it, and if there could be use to it? It seemed like I was able to act immediately after hitting him, like it was a no impact land, but I'm not positive.

Right around here in the video the Sheik does a series of them.

I recently asked about this in a reddit thread and someone responded that you need to hit someone for it to be possible.
Which is not stated by the wiki.
Imagine the possibilites with this tech if perfected

you can do it with nair too. i haven't seen this implemented in play much due to its rare utility. i can only recall a good falco doing this on yoshi's once that got a benefit. actually, i think aMSa has done this a bunch with yoshi's up airs. whatever, it's a cool tech that people should learn how to do just for the sake of looking cool.

Based on the wiki's explanation, I think the reason that hitting someone might be necessary could be that hitting them or a shield puts you into lag and gives you more time to do that L-Cancel. Or at least, that makes sense to me. I think that given how many players of different characters master one frame links (prime example- Samus with super wavedashes and even us with invincible ledgedashes) learning how to do this consistently could make it so nobody ever shields on a platform vs us again.

Given what I think is the frame data I could imagine it being impossible to get out of shield if done right.

exactly right! How scary would that be?
If you shield I break it, moonwalk across the stage, taunts, get a full charge of needles and punish you with a fully charged Upsmash... hmmm good times

I have been playing around in Training Mode and have been able to do these Nairs many many times. Surprisingly enough Nair was not too hard for me. Pressing down letting go, A and L at the same time.
I can actually see myself implementing this :O
Now on to trying doing multiple in a row on shield (Shield Grab or Nair OoS CPU)
Thanks for bringing this to my attention <3
I hope you learn it quickly too

Thanks! I'm still really new to the competitive scene (only two tourneys under my belt) but I've been watching for a while and I want to bring sheik (my sheik in particular lol) to the top. I'm just trying to bring up anything I notice and be participatory because I can't do it on my own.

Let me know how the nairs work as an unshieldable pressure

Also, if you can figure it out, please post a video, preferably with inputs, but I don't know your technological limitations of anything, so whatever you can do.

So when I can get the nair, I can do it, but my biggest difficulty is having it come out as a nair instead of a dair. Do you have any insight on how to beat that?

Yes. You need to be real quick with it. I think I had a good streak of 2 in a row many times, but it's coming in waves.
What I am trying to say is that I can't be precise with it yet.
I know that you need to hold down for a few frames for sheik to drop through. Then as soon as she does let go of the stick emediatly and press A then input the Lcancel.
I think I said earlier that you need both A and Lcancel at the same time, but that's not true. But you do need it timed before the inpact so it's extremely tight. About at tight as a JC Grab.

One thing that oddly help me doing them is not thinking too technical but rather visualizing it and trying to hit the opponent with the Nair. It might work for you too
