If you're like me, when you try and power shield your character's light shield takes the hit before the regular shield can come out to reflect whatever's about to hit you. However, if you use this trick, you can disable the analog input on your trigger so that the only input that works on it is the actual button mechanism that activates your regular shield.

Before plugging your controller in, make sure you press down on the analog input of your trigger. Be careful to not click it all the way in. This tricks the game into thinking that the analog pushed down is the controller's neutral position. It will temporarily disable the light shield on that trigger until you unplug your controller, the other trigger's analog should work fine.

This is an awesome alternative to controller mods and is only temporary, which is great if you play other games that use the analog input.

Pushing the trigger all the way down so that even the digital button part of the trigger is held down when calibrating doesn't hurt. In fact it ensures that you cannot lightshield at all with the trigger after.
