Recent, means most recent NEW model of Link.
The WW Link model, that which is used in PH, was established back in 2003.
The TP model, was released in 2006, thus being the most recent model of Link.
AC DOES NOT deserve a rep. It was a fantastic series, but it w as NOT a fighting series, and I have yet to see someone prove to me that Animal Crosser would be a great character.
The DS logo does not = DS character. The icon theory is a therory, not a law.

By TP being the most recent, I meant his appearance in Link's Crossbow training, and his GUARANTEED Brawl spot.

Someone thinking Luigi won't be in the game? I'm sure nearly nobody. He should get unique moveset (Luigi's Mansion- or Mario&Luigi-based). Luigi should share a few moves with Mario. He is Mario's brother, he must have a few same moves.
5) Geno or Bowser jr.
I can't decide which of them will be in Brawl (it wouldn't be stupid to take both....)
Geno is highly popular, Sakurai seems to be interested in Geno and he would have a unique moveset. A character like Geno is something like guaranteed, being a playable. Well, never had the chance to play the game as a PAL-player.
Bowser jr. is popular, he would have a unique moveset (no, he wouldn't be a Bowser-clone) and he is getting an important element in the Mario series. It's unclear what Sakurai thinks about a character like Bowser jr. But I'm sure he won't ignore himIt's a tie between both. I hope for both being playable.

Midna is a very important character in TP. She would have a unique moveset with Wolflink, she seems to be popular and go on. I'm getting lazy to saying something to every character.

Yes, I think we will have four or even more Kirby characters being playable in Brawl.
And the reason is Sakurai.
We've got three characters, many Kirby related things until now. Sakurai is showing the Kirby franchise as one of the four greatest series of Nintendo.
He has the (last) chance of representing the Kirby series as a big, important franchise. Sakurai will do this for sure and he is doing this.
I don't think Sakurai will be putting the Kirby at the same level as Fire Emblem, Metroid, StarFox, DK series or the Mother series. Why shoud he? I think that Sakurai will that the Kirby series are at the same level as Mario series, Zelda and Pokémon. Even if they deserve more characters than the Kirby series.
We've got some clues like three confirmed Kirby characters as startes.
Maybe you want to say that Kirby will get three newcomers in Brawl. For SSB64 originally King Dedede was planned. For Melee King Dedede and Meta Knight were planned. They haven't be included for reasons like lack of time or Sakurai wasn't allowed to put in so many.
So we haven't a newcomer from Melee to Brawl and I think it doesn't matter Sakurai.

I can't think of good choices, but Rick, Gooey or Marx (he would be funny....) would be nice choices.

Why should Sakurai kick Jigglypuff? She is the second most popular Pokémon with a unique moveset.
The argument Peach is putting all characters asleep with her FS is horrible and this means Jigglypuff can't get another one is bad. Search a better one.
17) Mewtwo
There are rumors Lucario replacing Mewtwo in Brawl. I don't care such rumors.
He has two specials, no character has in a similar way. And can anybody see how Lucario should replace Mewtwo? I would rather say Lucario is playable instead of Mewtwo. meh...
And if he wouldn't be bottom tier, (I think) nobody would doubt that he will return.

He would be an awesome newcomer. I think nobody thinks otherwise and no, he isn't too big.

Falco was a clone of Fox in Melee. He should return with a new moveset.
As the landmaster was confirmed as Fox's FS, Falco was something like confirmed for me. The airwing is something more characteristic for the StarFox series. Falco is the master airwing flyer. Well... I hope you can think of what I'm thinking about.

Krystal is very popular. She is a staff user, something we haven't in Brawl. Being female and an important StarFox-character, she is a shoe in.

When Ike was confirmed, I was sure Ike would be the perfect Marth replacement. After E4all, I'm sure Marth is being in. He is nothing like Marth. They share some similarities, but Ike is slow and strong, Marth is fast and eh... weaker. The perfect FireEmblem team for Brawl. Don't forget the popularity of Marth and he is the face of Fire Emblem.
With the remake of the first Fire Emblem, I'm sure Marth is playable.
25) Micaiah
Being an important FE-character in a recent game and being a white mage makes Micaiah to one of the more likely choices for Brawl. To be honest, we need female characters like Micaiah with such huge potential.
28) K.Rool
The DK series are one of the most important Nintendo franchises.
Having three characters is nothing special for a series like the one (I don't want to say it, but the DK series is the 4th best selling Nintendo franchise).
A character like K.Rool seems perfect. I like him and I'm getting tired of writing and I don't have any ideas, what I should write about him.

I like the story of Mother 3. Claus is a wonderful character and he would have a wonderful moveset. With Lucas being in, Claus is one of the more likely characters.
And look at Sakurai's poll. Three characters who have more than two votes (20 characters) are from the Mother series. Claus included.

Pikmin is a great game with fantastic ideas. Including the Pikmins, Captain Olimar would have probably the most unique moveset of all Brawlers.
And I think he is most likely in.

You can say Isaac is a (useless) sword fighter, like anyone else. Wrong, he is an earth adept and using (mainly) magic. He is from the GoldenSun series (a fantastic game). I should play it again...
36) Animal Crosser
I know there is a twist between supportes and "AC won't get a character" sayers. I don't know how to argue....
39) Lip
No, she isn't deconfirmed.
She could use her bud stick (preform of Lip's stick) as her main weapon. It would be not so good like Lip's stick, but I think it's good enough for Lip. And even if, the scew ball is a item and Samus's /b\. Using the bud stick, using magic and being female, she would be a nice addition to the roster.
40) Mr. G&W
I don't think he won't be playable. And I will finish this list...
43) Another 3rd-Party

1. Why in the world would a DS-only Assist Trophy not be under the DS logo?
2. Touch Generations pertains to DS. Being in the Touch Gens series doesn't exempt them.
3. Look at the Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree, which has the Touch! Generations logo on it.
4. I like how you pick joke characters over workable characters.
5. Mona is in every WarioWare game ever made, and is one of the earliest characters you see. And the series is extremely popular.
6. The whole "medication" insult sounds perfect to have come from a 16 year old. Myself, I'm on the far end of 20.
7. It's funny how you seem to imply that I'm the instigator of any insults. I reserve the right to make any insults towards anyone who warrants it.

Yes as Bowser Jr. has been in the last 3 big mario games(SMS. NSMB and SMG) and in the sipn-offs.
Vaati has been in the 3 Zelda game and would be a villain to Celda mario but no to Twinrova as they did not have as big role in the zelda series as Vatti. Alsp it was the smae Vaati in them 3 games so Vatti has been in more zelda games then any of the links.
Also get rid of Sora.

Twinrova? She hasn't really been relevant to Zelda since Ages. Heck, they had the perfect chance with Minish Cap to become relevant again, since MC seemed to reuse characters (Anju, Dampé, Postman, etc.).

Thats a good AC moveset, but he would still not be a great character, and I refuse to belive Sakurai would put in a character from that series. We got an item and a stage, thats good enough.
Might I also add that AC villagers have been seen in the background of Smashville. Smashville is a very elaborate stage that covers jst about every aspect of the AC world. if weve seen them in the background, we shouldnt expect to see them ias PCs, and every character from AC people wanted has been seen in the background. Case closed.
It doesnt matter how TP Link did in Japan. sakurai has clearly chosen to go with one style, as he did in Melee. Young Link in melee (from Majora's mask) shared the same model as the one from OoT, which is where the adult link in Melee originated from.
The Zelda, Link, and most likely Ganondorf have the TP model, so clearly SAKURAI, not the Japanese fans, favors TP.
This may make sense to you, it may not make sense to you, but Im simply looking at past patterns.
Also, why would Mona be a good character, and why SHOULD Mona be in Brawl? No character from the WarioWare series, despite it being a fantastic series, deserves to be in except Wario. The others are much to minor. I said it, Im sorry, you fans of Ashley, but this is how I feel.

2nd, One thing I'd like YOU to prove, is that Japanese fans dislike TP Link. (other than that, you win this one. I fold on this matter)
3rd. Ive played several WarioWare games. Every time I play one, the only character that ever stands out to me is Wario, and he is the only one gamers who have not played the WarioWare games would recognize.
In any of the games Ive played, none of the characters interact with one another, and just seem to be a hub for microgames. This doesnt tell me the character is important.
One other thing brought to mind, is why there are so many people supporting Ashley just because of a song. That is most likely the best fighting-oriented song they could grab from the series(correct me if Im wrong) so this in no way means Ashley would be a character.

This one I belive will come down to Sakurai's preference. If they can come up with an original move set for Falco, I'd love to see him in it as well.

1. Not going to comment on his chances, but SMRPG was not so successful that it would actually "explode" in Japan.
2. I strongly disagree with the assessment of "any other WarioWare characters". People really underestimate Wario, WarioWare especially, in its popularity.
3. Why wouldn't you think that? Wind Waker Link is a pretty popular choice, and he's definitely the more popular version of Link in Japan.
4. Four SF reps is possible, but highly unlikely, considering its lack of popularity in Japan, lack of quality in recent installments, etc.
5. I'd rather see Eliwood than Roy, since Eliwood is the original English Lord along with Lyndis and Hector.
6. I wish BF were likely, but he isn't. The fish being in The Summit simply ruins his chances.
7. You may not want AC, but that doesn't make them unlikely. A list of the representation for Animal Crossing:

The only thing AC doesn't have is a character. Why would they put in so much support for a series but not give a character? It'd be an okay argument if the character wasn't workable, but the ACer is.
The series is huge - ACWW has sold more than 4.5 million in Japan alone, a feat accomplished by very few games.
8. Glad you at least gave Slime an honorable mention, but just because Slime isn't so popular around here doesn't mean that he's not popular elsewhere. With all of the DQ games on the DS and Wii - DQ Monsters Joker, which sold more than 1.7 million worldwide - DQ Heroes, which sold more than 400k worldwide, DQ Sword - which sold more than 500k worldwide, DQ IV, which has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, Super Mario + Dragon Quest Itagaki Street DS, which has sold more than 1 million copies worldwide, and three upcoming games - DQV, DQVI, and DQIX, all coming out this year, all of which features Slime as its official mascot.
