Sick! One problem though- it says the tournament will be using monitors. Wii and gc cant be played on those because of the kag. Will you provide crts or should we expect the community to do that?

You are correct, we are working with the local Smash community to help out with equipment, and running the Smash events.

For those who happen to be interested in old fighting games

We have added MvC2, CvS2, 3rd Strike, ST and Alpha 3 in an event we call, the Stargate Classic Pentathlon

Much like the actual pentathlon, this contest will feature five events. For this we are hosting tournaments for five of the classic fighting games of last generation, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Capcom vs SNK 2, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

The Pentathlon will be a contest to see who is the best in all the games. Entry fee for each individual tournament is $10. Players can decide whether or not to enter each tournament. The $10 tournament fee will be split up between $5 for the individual tournament prize pot, and $5 for the total pentathlon prize pot. Tournaments will be best 2/3, double elimination, 3/5 grand finals. Points will be given to all players towards the final ranking.

MvC2, CvS2, and 3S will be played on the PS3 digital download versions. ST and A3 will be played on CPS2 systems, boards supplied by Stargate Arcade owner Chris "Cmutt" Wong. Additional prizes for the pentathlon winners will be given by fashion blog http://www.wewearthings.com/ and others. MvC2, CvS2, and 3rd Strike will take place Friday night, while ST and A3 will be on Saturday.

Our early bird online registration price of $30 ends this Friday. If you are attending the Insomnia Smash tournaments this Saturday, you can also register there for the early bird price. Registration increases to $40 until the day of Texas Showdown on April 4. At which point registration will increase to $50 at the door.

So if we want to just play smash and want to register for $30 we should just register but not select any games?

Correct, you would just pay for a badge online, and then register for Smash/Project M at the door.

"Project M(Wii)"

Bad idea, this is basically Brawl 2.0, can yal have it removed? sorry its just hard to play with so many greasy losers in one room. Its bad enough I have to play next to all these other trashy fighting games. Melee masterrace reporting in.

Are there teams for either Melee and PM? Also there is a high possibility that me and King Mosquito are going to this.

We haven't scheduled any official team events. Players are free to hold one though, as long as it doesn't interfere with the singles events.

Kind of predictable because I don't think Texas is one of the bigger Smash states and also because this event didn't seem to get promoted/hyped up enough. What was the incentive to go vs going to a regular Texas Smash tourney? Especially given the general track record of events that include any Smash game but don't really work with the community to make it appealing to go to the event.

Not to insult Texas Showdown itself, I know it's a great event, but the general populace of Smashers do not. =\

Were there any project M matches that are recorded? I know it was streamed but is there a way you can watch it?
