How do you play Diddy Kong?

Remember that you can fast fall dash attack off ledges and hit people quite far offstage. I find this quite useful. Diddy can easily recover from this position too.

True but Diddy can do Diddy Kong stuff also like stuff

Use chaingrabs with up throw cause Xanadu uses down throw so much, it is almost guaranteed on new opponents. Up smash out of shield is fastest behind diddy option, and Up b out of shield is like a flying mario down smash, abuse it. If they punish you for it, link throws a bomb at the player to make them pay for their hubris.
