Dude it was 0C Pearl. After we picked Diamond, Ken added Pearl to 0C3.

We always thought Diamond was superior, but that's why we chose it.

Indeed it was. We were still a bit bitter because he'd accused us of stealing money from the pot at FC3 and started his own tournament so that was our in-joke when we named it Diamond (because most people want Diamond not Pearl). Then Ken actually named it Pearl in the thread title at least. We got a good laugh that night.

Oh well. Forgiveness is good. Still have no idea if he and mana were serious about us stealing money or not. Pot for FC3 was low because we only charged like $40 for 3 days of food and housing. Shrug.

edit- have you considered sponsoring regional tournaments as part of a circuit leading up to this? APEX did it and IMPULSE i guess is doing it too. I like the idea, especially if you pick one of my tournaments

Ok so FC1 (04?), then (to the world) FC3 (05), then FC6 (06), then FCD (07). Most people expected FCD to be FC9 or something, so FC12 would be next, plus like FC6, it would match the year.

And by challenger, I mean venue. They tossed their hats in the ring at the last minute with what appears to be a competitive offer. I have to go visit there now.

Did you all know there are Convention and Visitors Bureaus that offer free assistance to establishing such events in like a million cities because the cities profit when people come into town? Yeah, they apparently spread the word to the different venues. I never knew this before.

Dang, just got a great offer on a venue. Haven't seen it yet, but as long as it's not total crap it's twice the size of the old venue and comes with $65/night rooms for participants and like 3 meals for the same prices as the other place was charging for venue alone, which is a heck of a deal.

Getting so excited to wrap this up and start planning the fun parts. Venue searching is the worst.

tim, 2 ideas:

1. it might be a respectable idea to have a travel registry for the event. to register, you put your smash tag, where you're coming from, the hotel you're staying at, and your phone number. the idea is that if you have hundreds of people traveling to your event all over the country, if something happens, any smart phone user or anyone with a laptop at mcdonalds, whatever can look at said registry and call other people for help. getting stranded while traveling is the worst, why not take advantage of the huge social network?

2. we should do another MBR photo. the one from APEX 1 was good but we can do better. basically let's try to get all of the members of anyone that was ever in the MBR. we should also a MBR leader picture, which would be like M3D, jv3x3, you, me, AOB, cactuar, hyuga, unknown, slhoka. did i miss anyone?

this also means that you have to track down andy one way or another. and make him grow out the beard. i'll force JV and cactuar to go, and i'll try to get Mr. Jason Rice as well.
