I just can't resist. Kudos to that "what is tap jumping and short hopping" topic. I'm not sure if you people will find this funny; obviously I hope you do.

Tap Jumping and Short Hopping

If you've ever played Smash before, chances are you know all about one of the most fundamental moves in the game.

Jumping.

This essential technique is the key to mastery of the air.

You must not be afraid when you ascend into the heavens with grace!

But there are other types of jumps in this game. Not all players may know this.

Like this, right?

No, I'm not talking about these.

What, then?

There are two so-called sub-skills of the jump. 'Round here they're commonly known as...

Tap Jumping and Short Hopping.

Press up with your control choice to jump!

It's just that easy!

(You can turn off the Tap Jump with your control preferences, you know. I'm pretty sure I already told you that.)

Jump very lightly to do a Short Hop!

Well, the Short Hop isn't nearly as easy as the Tap Jump.

I can't stress this enough. Press it lightly.

In fact, I suggest you barely press it. At all.

You might think you're pressing lightly. The game thinks otherwise.

Hold back your strength and you will succeed!

I'm not quite sure just how useful either of these techniques would actually be. I mean, I suppose Short Hopping would let you do air attacks at the level of ground moves, which would be pretty out of this world...well, I guess it's all up to experimentation. And isn't that what Smash is all about?
