An E3 Retrospective: Part 4 - Super Smash Bros. for Switch (2018)

part4smashswitch.jpg

This will be a four part series briefly looking over Smash's presence at E3 before E3 this year

With Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch expected to have a big showing at E3, now is a good time to reflect on the series' previous E3 showings. While the series has found more activity in recent years at other events, particularly Nintendo Directs, we're about to come to a close by discussing Super Smash Bros for Switch.

Radio silence was had for a while after Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U, but Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo Switch brings things full circle a bit - this was the first Smash game since the original Super Smash Bros. to not be announced at an E3 presentation. With the Nintendo Direct announcement and the release approaching soon this year, it'll be exciting to see what will happen at this year's E3. Based on previous years, we can expect a blast of information. Nintendo's tactics have changed though, and they likely won't show us everything in one go - It's very possible that more will be revealed during the Treehouse stream to keep our attention the whole week of E3.

The Smash Invitational should also be exciting. We know have more information about it, so it looks like we'll be learning a ton about Super Smash Bros for Switch. at E3.
