Pretty much what's going on in this thread is:

-Anyone who thinks these popular artists are awful and talentless is just trying to be cool, keep up their e-cred, making some childish attempt to be non-conformist....or they're being a troll who isn't even worth responding to.

-Anyone who thinks these popular artists are talented is being insightful, sophisticated, knowledgeable, individual, and completely unbiased.

This is why talking about what music is good/bad is dumb 99% of the time.

What about the guy who says a little of both frotaz? :)

I dislike justin bieber for he is making money off his looks, and dance, and a decent voice (when there are countless better vocalists than him) but I also respect that he has more talent than a large majority of pop "artists" out there.

I agree LT, it was a pretty dumb argument.
I'm sorry for starting it. :c

On another note, kesha's voice isn't exactly "bad". Yeah, I admit, it's not good, but it's at least mediocre. Probably on par with like, britney spears and the like. Just because she can use autotune doesn't mean she has to.

Tbh I like Bieber's voice and it doesn't help my bias by the fact that I think he's ****ing sexy and I would smash him backwards all night long for the rest of my life.

And you'd also probably want to get checked for syphilis ... possibly rabies.

Man it's funny how this is a thread about Winehouse and people have ended up calling other female artists dirty skanks.

I've actually came a cross an article calling her a genius. I didn't really hear so much positive things about her when she was alive. There was some but I heard a lot more negative. Such a corrupted world...

This brings up something I always think about when these kinds of stories happen...

To me and you, and everyone on these boards, MJ (and Amy Winehouse, and any celebrity really) is an entertainment figure. Their sole value to us is in the capacity they have to entertain us. So it really doesn't matter what they do with their personal lives.

Okay, I mean, it DOES matter if they are molesting children or driving ****faced or whatever, but people like to get on their high horses and pass judgment on celebrities' personal lives all the time. I don't think it is even slightly wrong to love Michael Jackson or think that he "earned it" (in a sense) because of the decades of amazing art he gave us. If MJ molested kids, he should have been punished of course, but I don't think it is up to us to make a judgment call either way. We don't know these people. What we know is what the tabloids say, and the music/art they release.

@Teran to say you would support a child molester just because of their past accomplishments, especially in a field as meaningless as entertainment is bull****.

Well okay how about this.

Roman Polanski literally drugged and buttraped a 13 year old girl in the 70s, and because of this there was an arrest warrant for him in Switzerland for all these years. Then not so long ago he was arrested in Switzerland for that crime and there was a huge outcry all through western society.

So basically to me, it's really sort of a mixed bag, I mean honestly I think MJ was a target for vilification because he was weird. He had that look, that weirdo paedo vibe. It's like Gary Glitter, he just looks evil so everyone likes to pull out the lynch mob mentality on him. Polanski though, what makes him so different? Directing The Pianist?

But whatever, I'm not gonna defend myself because ultimately I don't care about some little punk like Gavin Arvizo whose family were scam artists and made up the moleststion charges.

Still though, MJ was a king, and while you seem to think entertainment has zero value, music is one of the most powerful forces in human society, and MJ is arguably one of the greatest of all time.

So yeah, if he did make a couple of slip ups (which he didn't), he more than made up for it with his incredible list of achievements. I mean hey, aren't we supposed to judge people by the sum of what they've done rather than one thing?

Of course not because we're an ignorant lynch mob minded group of savages and this is why the general public isn't allowed to dispense justice, because they are judgmental, stupid, and are a herd of feral beasts.

As far as I'm concerned MJ didn't do it. Cause he was acquitted.
But still you said IF he did it You support him.
I, personal opinion, could never throw my weight behind someone like that regardless of all their achievements.
If a catholic priest fed the homeless, ran a shelter for abused women, and cleaned up his neighborhood, but touch one boy he would(should) be stripped of any positions demanding respect. And rightly so.
Any other public figure is no different.

After watching that documentary I always assumed MJ was just naive, neither him or the kids appeared to see what was wrong with sleeping in his bed. As weird as it was it just came across as stupid but innocent.

It's like half the people that talk about him being a pedo never actually saw the documentary that caused all the controversy.

I know what you mean.

Most people tend to "dislike" artist, athletes, etc bcuz of something in their private lives.

They entertain us(idk if I wrote the word right lol)

they are not machine that just make people "have fun" or whatsoever. People make mistakes.

Is like... let's say Kobe bryant, Michael Jackson, Winehouse and some other artist.

Yet Kobe Bryant is probably the best active player in the nba right now.

Michael Jackson: Duh.

---

also I hate the fact that when news talks about a crime, talks like the person is already culprit. :/ That ruins the image of the person even if the person is innocent.

****** a kid greatly outweighs everything michael jackson did musically...

Not that he did actually do it, though.
It just wouldn't be justified just because of that.

Rebecca Black allegedly donated the money she made off her song "Friday" to the survivors of the Japanese tsunami. Does this make up for the atrocity that is "Friday"? I am torn.

There should be a charity for teaching tone deaf kids how to not sound like dying whales.

Tbh that's pretty unselfish. She probably made some major bank off that song and to give it to charity is a very tough decision, I mean honestly if I made that kind of money I would never donate it, and I highly doubt most people would.

Yeah, but he's a preset though. His job REQUIRES him to behave himself and set an example for catholics. Mj on the other hand doesn't need to. He could be like those other celebrities for all we know and be taking drugs and going to parties every night and still get less flak than a priest who molests a boy because MJ isn't required to do all that. People like Britney have done that, gone under scrutiny, and still have thousands of fans and sell a lot

@El Nino, Friday is the single most greatest song ever dawned by mankind since ever

I will admit, Friday makes me laugh much more than most things that are supposed to be funny.

... I listen to it a lot more than I should :embarrass:
