aMSa Confirms Attendance at Evo 2017

Earlier this week, the team behind the EVO Championship Series announced that Super Smash Bros. Melee at EVO 2017 will conclude on Saturday, July 15. As such, Melee's finals will not take place at the Mandalay Bay Arena, which is reserved for games concluding on the next day.

While many fans were disappointed by this decision, given that Melee was a 'Championship Sunday' game at last year's EVO, there seems to be a silver lining to it: the ability for some seldom seen international players to attend.

Masaya "VGBC | aMSa" Chikamoto, widely regarded as the world’s best Melee Yoshi, has confirmed he will be present at EVO 2017. The Japanese star, ranked 32nd on 2016's SSBMRank, was only able to attend two majors in 2016 due to work obligations. Since Melee at the event will be a two-day affair, he will be able to travel stateside without expending his paid vacation days.

Author's Note: What do you think? Are you excited for aMSa's return to the US? Personally, I think his inclusion will mean a lot to those craving high level Yoshi play but and will add to the legitimacy of this year’s EVO talent pool.

Sweet! The legend himself is coming in to see how well Yoshi can compete in a grand scale, cant wait! Hopefully it doesn't end up being a train wreck and he ends up cancelling it due to things going on in life.
