AI learning?

I've been practicing with level 9 cpus to get better at my punish game. I use roy as my secondary and i tend to use him a lot to tryout some advanced techniques (B-reversals, Edge guarding with Flare Blade, etc.). I'm playing against a level 9 roy and I see it foxtrotting and b-reversing. I don't know if there is ai learning or not and I don't own any amiibo at all. Has someone else also experienced something similar?

It's not accurate, but if I remember right... Level 9 CPU's can read your button imputs a bit and don't necessarily learn like amiibo. I get that feeling too sometimes.
