A Slow, non-painful KO?

As seen in the demo, after a match conclues, there is a brief period of time where all foes are seen moving in slow motion. Now, my question is, if you are on a path to be KOed and you are in this limbo, and you actually go off screen, does the KO count?

Odds are we won't know until the game is either A) Released in Super Happy Fun Japan Land, B) Sakurai unveils the secrets of this timeframe or if this considered Slow Brawl (Please No.)

Wow these questions are getting harder and harder by the day. They only played the demo for like 4 days. This is something that was probably NOT on their mind. We'll have to wait for the game to come out for things like this.

A good question! I liked it better when everything just stopped anyways...

Only if you fly far enough to go completely off screen, then it counts as a KO.

Probably not. It seems simple, really. The match ended, so nothing counts. This happened in Melee too. If you fell after KOing Master Hand, you wouldn't lose anything for it.

I've been wondering too. But I've seen that when someone gets KO'd after the match ends, the damage meter doesn't lose it's %, so I think that would mean it won't count.

In the videos, if someone get's KO'd after the time runs out, they dont lose damage and don't get a -1 above their name, so I'd say it won't count.

I love the slow-mo effect by the way.

Yeah, it was a shame that Slo-Mo was only present on Stamina in Melee. Cn you see stock matches using the slo-mo, as after one character dies, the other taunts in slow motion?

I doubt is counts.

Example: A baskeball team is up by 22 points, so the buzzer goes off and the guy sets up, and shoots a long, random shot for the hell of it. It goes's in, but doesn't count because the official "end" has already come.

I don't think it counts. It's like a sport where you shoot the basketball after the horn or snap a football after the play clock expires. I'm guess that this is just a neat little feature to ending the match.

...oh shoot, Chi's Finest already came up with a sports example... bleh...

I can put my 2 cents in this one, At E For All I was OK'd by going off the top of screen just before time. Then time hit before I twinkled away. During the slow mo part I simply kept spinning in the distance but was not KO'd giving the other player a point. So unless my memory fails me, when time is called, it's over. Slow is for effect.

That wouldn't make sense. The point of a timer is to end the match. I already explained how it happened in Melee and no penalty occured.
Well, I thought it would've been cool if you can't control you character for that period of time, but all effects take place, in slo-mo, for about 2 seconds.

Yeah, I guess it's like MH in Melee though.

Except TS asked what would happen if the person was already flying away, then the buzzer sounded, then he got KOd. So if we were using a Basketball analogy, it would be like if someone took the shot, then the buzzer went, then it went in. Or, for American Football, there was the snap, then time expired, then a touchdown was scored. Both of these would count as points.

It's more like Hockey, where no matter what, when the buzzer goes, the game is done. I support the theory that the person goes through the KO animation, but it doesn't affect their score. It makes the most sense.

In [American] football though, as long as the ball is snapped, you can score while the timer is at 0. I am sure there are other sports that are similar.

But as for Brawl, I am 99.9% sure it doesn't count... and that is not even counting the confirmation from someone who was at E for All 2 posts above me.

In Melee, if you fell after Master Hand, it didn't count, so probably not. And a winner would be decided anyways.

You have to remember that during the 2 seconds after the time goes out, it's loading the winner's victory screen and stuff. It's nto going to wait to decide whoa winner is until after some KO that happened 1 second after the match ended.

Also, if I KO someone in stock, and I'm falling off the screen and die, does it suddenly say "Game Set", and then "Sudden Death" in a stock match?

No, it doesn not count [/thread]

The game freezes when it says "Game Set," there's no slow motion. That's not a good example... If anything, the Master Hand one makes more sense.

I guess it's like Mario Kart, if you pass the fnal lap and get hit with an item, then someone passes you, you still remain victor.

This thread should be locked, the question has been answered numerous times. And just to throw it in again, no, it doesn't count.

Okay, so it has been CONFIRMED that the slo-mo at the conclusion of a match is for effect only (possibly as a filler to gap lagging time as someone previously mentioned. This thread may be closed now I guess...

I meant in my example, if it happens during Brawl. I was using that to point out that it wouldn't make sense.
