A simple way to replace CSPs?

Every method I've seen for replacing CSPs is quite complicated in comparison to replacing textures. Is it at all possible to do the same sort of thing you have to do to replace textures to replace CSPs? Such as simply renaming a .tga and putting it in a folder? Or perhaps a program that converts .tga's into the right file type? It seems really unnecessary to have to go through so much trouble to replace them, when replacing textures is so easy.

Forgive me if I sound stupid here, I'm pretty new to brawl hacking.

Dude, I can totally relate. But sadly, the only way I know of is using CUPASH. But don't worry, once you learn how it gets really easy.

Ah, well I'm looking into a cupash guide right now, hopefully I'll be able to get it down.

Edit: The whole process is much to complicated. At the moment I think I'll just remember which costumes are where. Once a simple hassle free method of replacing csps is possible then I'll do it.

Brawl Texturizer says "Hi" You just need something you can set transparency as the background with (like GIMP or Photoshop)
I've been trying this, but while exporting to the SD card the program always gets stuck on mario - black for whatever reason and refuses to continue.

Edit: alright it got past that, but it didn't put the csp on my sd card, this thing really needs a readme. :s

CUPASH blows, go texturizer or smash/brawlbox.

Use Smash/BrawlBox.

open common5.pac>sc_selcharacter_en>char_bust_tex_lz77.

you wont need to do a magenta bg thing, just index it without going over the color limit, i save mine as png's but im sure tga's should work as well.

replacin is as easy as finding the specific csp, right click replace, find your new csp. You should know how to do the rest.

Character select screen now refuses to load after using brawl textureizer, I hereby deem this, not worth my, or anyone else's time.

Use Texturizer. It works every time for me. BrawlBox takes way too long, as every character has a different directory and their all just numbers, it's way too time consuming. Plus you don't need to index or use .tga's in Texturizer.

My guess is... UR DOING IT RONG!

It doesn't matter, I just ended up writing down which textures were where. I'm sure eventually someone will release the ultimate program for textures, csps, etc. but for the time being its not worth the trouble. Putting the textures in myself is easier considering it doesn't remove the textures I already have on my SD card.

BrawlScape allows for very easy editing of CSP's.

You just need every Brawl file except Subspace movies and a few other things. You only need about... 4 or so gigs of the 7 on the ISO.

With BrawlBox you need to know paths. It will accept any image format you throw at it.

BrawlScape will work with partial files. Just ignore the errors. All you would need in this case is common5.

I tried it with BrawlScape, but it doesn't remove the magenta. Am I doing something wrong?

You have to remove it yourself. Putting magenta in the background ruins portraits and creates a pink border where semi-transparent pixels should be.

I am using Texturizer and I exported and all that just fine, but I don't have a wii to test things on.
My question: I downloaded Youko's texture pack and all that stuff, and I have made some modifications changing some textures and stuff. How do I replace the CSPs without messing with everything else? For example, I have a pre-made Captain Falcon CSP that I associated with a texture using Texturizer, and then I exported everything to a folder on my computer. How would I go about changing that ONE CSP without messing with everything else?

Where are the .tga's that I set as the CSP associated? When I exported, I couldn't find a .tga file anywhere... is it part of the pcs? is it in common5.pac? Where is it?

Sorry for reviving a dead topic, but I used search and this was the closest thing I could find to my problem...

Smash/Brawlbox...open the common5.pac, open the sc_selcharacter_en, open the arc_char_tex, something like that, open the 09 folder.

Suggest you search common5 for every "texture" folder so that questions like this wont need to be asked. you only need to look for anything that has the something that looks like it says "texture". no need to look at anything else.
