I have seen a whole lot One on One action dealing with Sonic but what about Regular 4 way brawls? What is the general strategy for that? I know Sonic is light so I think I don't want to be in the fight scene for too long just to avoid being in the cross fire. I usually just stay away from it all and sit....waiting for a K.O chance. Is it wrong?

A quick answer:

depends on who you're playing with. If I just sat in the back in a FFA and stole kills all 3 of my opponents would team up on me. 1 would probably grab me then grab release into another while the third used every taunt he had. This would of course not be a good strategy for my case. Pretty much FFA's are for fun anyways so just run in and have fun. It doesn't matter if you win or lose a FFA, they don't really show skill and are mostly politics anyways. Just try not to be a *******.

Free-for-alls are extremely rare in competitive smash; we only play them occasionally for fun, you don't usually have FFA tournaments. IMO the reason is that they encourage silly tactics (run away from the fights so others rack up damage for you, then find an opening to take the KO), and matches are so chaotic that it's very difficult to ascertain who are the better players are. There may be other better reasons for it, though.

In general, competitive smash tournaments involve a Singles tournament (1v1), and Doubles (2v2, team attack ON).

Edit: Also, Sh4dey your sig is awesome.

The only thing FFA's are for is spiking with ganon/DK and falcon punches

that said, I find sonic to be really good in 4 player. you can easily stay away from all the chaos and avoid things like lucas upsmash. I use lots of spindashes and SH fairs since most people arent paying too much attention to avoid them properly :)

I find Sonic to be the ultimate sly dog for FFA matches.

BTW let's hijack this thread and rename it the "Sonic gameplay in 4-player free-for-alls" so this trhead can live a little bit longer.

Timed FFA's, he sucks.

Stock FFA's, he's awesome at avoiding damage/screwing up gangs, and then you wait until it's a 1v1 lol

Ditto

In timed FFAs, you have to be quick and have a sharp eye out for damage and stuff. If you see an opponent start flying towards off stage, chances are that opponent is only concentrating on two thngs: getting back to the stage and the opponent that knocked him/her off in the first place. That way, you can go out and gimp that opponent right quick, stealing that kill.

In stock FFA, you're goal is simple, run around, don't get hit, cause 1v1v1 while you stand somewhere saying "You're Too Slow!" then watch as the three people try to attack, so you run away, and the 1v1v1 continues. Then you take out whoever survived that.

LuLz: if a FFA goes down to you and one person, and one person has 1 life while you have like 3, sandbag. At least until the last stock, where they'll have like 192% damage because you didn't use any KO moves, and profit.

I have too much fun with FFAs.

Guess I get to be the first to correct the OP in saying that Sonic isn't that light, he's actually up there around Mario in weight.

Or I'm wrong and on drugs again.

In which case I think an intervention is in order. What the heck are we talking about!?

Sonic is too good for FFAs, as long as they aren't freakin timed matches. Stupid freakin time matches online dumb grumble grumble snore. It's 4 AM here. Lurk.

so many replies "I'm Too Slow" to read them all (bad joke I know  )....so the hit and run tactic is good then for FFA's. Personally I love timed FFA's, because the pressure of time makes it exciting and I usually win those lol. What if it's a small stage like Lylat planet or Distant Planet? With that Hit and run tactic I usually can't help but get cornered, I attack the one who cornered me and before I finish a move, I get smacked by some other person and that usually kills me.

Since the thread might be hijacked lol , I also been thinking of a "Basic Rules For FFA's" thread with Sonic, since I see I'm not alone in this area of interest. Like for example,

"If your opponents are all Heavy weights (D3 , Bowser, Ganondorf, etc aka Steak Time? ) use your speed to dodge and force openings in the opponents. Try not to get your damage high as One or two blows will destroy you"

Something along those lines. A good Idea?
