A problem with weight and speed differences

I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I think that one reason why a game with this many fighters is so hard to deal with design wise and balance wise is that there is too much variation in how the characters move around. If you asked me, I think making certain categories tighter between the best and worst overall in things like fall speed, air acceleration, weight, walk and run speeds, etc. could make it so much easier to work with the high amount of characters in this game.

I even made this theoretical weight chart up really quick for fun. Right now the difference between the heaviest and lightest characters in Smash 4 is 62 units of weight, between 130 and 68. I think lowering that to 50 would be a good start, so from 130 to 80, and 80 is about light weight level. However, I would also like to even out the weight distribution so the super heavy weights aren't so much heavier than the heavy weights below and the feather weights aren't so below the light weights above. This would mostly mean making the middleweights heavier overall, as well as lightweights.

Not that it matters, but this is something I just came up with for the weight:

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT (130-120)

FEATHERWEIGHT (89-80)

:ultfox: 89

:ultpikachu: 88

:ultolimar: 88

:ultmetaknight: 87

:ultmewtwo: 84

:ultpokemontrainer: (Squirtle): 83

:ultgnw: 82

:ultpichu: 81

:ultjigglypuff: 80
I'm sure if I had the time, I would do the walk and run speeds too. Basically, I don't want so big a difference between Robin and Sonic or Jigglypuff and Bowser. I think compacting these values would help bring a more cohesive and more balanced outlook of the game overall, at least when it comes to actually making and playing with it.
