A n00bish question that I can't find an answer to

Yes, I have been trying at this for weeks, so don't say google it before creating a new thread. I have also pmed several people on this issue.

I finally downloaded homebrew and gecko and such, however, I can find no way now to access my balanced brawl codes, so I can deactivate the disable custom stages code! The code is in GCT format, so code manager doesn't load it, and for some reason, I can see no code on/off interface on gecko. And I want to play on my custom stages again... Ocarina doesn't work when I download it. Says "codelist too big."

What should I do?

Yes, yes, I know the answer is probably going to turn out to be something incredibly obvious that was n00bish of me to not see in the first place, or that I shouldn't post threads like this in this room (sorry, I had nowhere else to go).

okay, but code manager isn't loading everything, it's just a blank, black screen every time I load it. I think it's because it says it only manages text files, and the disable custom stages code is already a GCT. I don't really know why. Is there a way to turn the code off from my computer? You need to get the .txt
Go find a code manager then switch codes on and off. Save it as a .gct, as a code manager should do.

delete the GCT, get the txt put the codes you want in, make a new gct with the code manager.

look in the original topic for the text, then just paste it all into notepad and put it in a folder called txtcodes int eh root of your sd card. then, you can access each code individually from the code manager.



finally, once you've gone through all of that, you'll come to your senses and stop playing such a terribly hacked game.

SAY WUUUUUT. It is NOT terribly hacked... that's the only flaw... I think... The gct contains all of the other balanced brawl codes... so I can't delete it without deleting balancedbrawl... so I got it in a download bundle.

GCTs are textfiles compiled so the Wii can read them.

Textfiles usually come in this form:

When Code Manager loads textfiles, it includes them as a list:

When it compiles it into a GCT, think of it of making a textfile like this:

As you see, names are deleted, and codes 1 did not show because it was not checked. This is why you can't find the disable custom stages, the names are not included in the GCT and can't show them in Code Manager.

Now, people who make GCT, pretty much all of the time give out the exact textfile they used to make it. This is also the case for BBrawl (I know because I have it). All you have to do is download it, open it in Code Manager and uncheck the Disable Custom Stages code. After than, make a GCT, delete the one you have on your SD card, and put the one you just made. This will not get rid of BBrawl because you are using pretty much the exact same GCT except without the Disable Custom Stages.

You can disable all codes from Gecko OS. I believe the option is in the "Config Options" sub menu, and is called "SD Cheats".

I really can't argue against such an attack because it's just an unsupported point. Nothing worth talking about on that front really; Balanced Brawl is still awesome for its adherence to its spelled out elsewhere design philosophy.

To address the TC, a separate technical support topic was hardly appropriate, but it's just as fast to answer the question as chastise for it. You need to do what everyone is saying basically. Find the gecko code manager 1.2 or 1.0 (be sure it's not 1.1) off the internet. This is something you run on your computer, not the Wii. Use it to open the file "BBrawl _FL09_Final_NTSC-U.txt" from our download link. Uncheck the code you want to turn off; don't check or uncheck anything else (unless you want to change more than just that, of course!). Use the "export to .gct" menu option and replace the .gct we provide with the one you make as such on your SD card. Boot up Brawl through gecko, and the desired effects should occur.

what you could do is look for the "disable custom stages" code somewhere else, then copy the BBrawl code txt onto a word document, and then search for the code using find. its worth a try.

you're gonna have to remove all the stars if you're gonna use it in cheat manager. you can problably do it easily with code manager though.

I really can't argue against such an attack because it's just an unsupported point. Nothing worth talking about on that front really; Balanced Brawl is still awesome for its adherence to its spelled out elsewhere design philosophy.
