HERE IS THE UPDATE!
Making a couple of points:
1) Setups are highly HIGHLY needed!! Please brings Wiis and T.Vs (mostly Wiis). We want to make this tournament run smoothly and fast, the less Wiis the longer it will be (and no partying going on afterwards) so keep this in mind!
- Brawl Minus Setups are also needed (do we want to have 2 T.Vs for Brawl Minus? We're expecting a pretty decent turn out).

Registration for all the events starts @ 10:30 AM

Heyo, everyone! My name is Day! This will be the sixth School is in Session tourney series. This tournament is focusing on Alex Strife's Apex:
For our competitors, we strive to create the best experience possible. With that in mind we have branched out into our newest addition to Apex the “Road to Apex” series. Beginning in August, we will begin to hold qualifiers across the World. These qualifiers will help players become ranked but also help the top placing regional player attend Apex. Here is a breakdown on what each event will be offering to our players.
Each event listed as a “Road to Apex” qualifier will be feature a ranking point system for the Singles and Doubles events. The point system, listed below, will help us to make sure that the best experience possible is given to each player. On top of that, we will be able to provide a better event quality. The points are broken down from 1st place to 7th place below.
1st place – 64pts
2nd place – 32pts
3rd place – 16pts
4th place – 8pts
5th place – 4pts
5th place – 4pts
7th place – 2pts
7th place – 2pts
Note : The Doubles event would be giving that point total to each individual player. It would not be split.
All matches would be played out to get the full placing.
As an additional feature, we will be providing the top placing regional player of each Singles event with a $100 stipend to travel to Apex 2012. What this means is that for a West Coast event, for example, the top placing West Coast player will receive the stipend regardless of where they stand in the bracket. This is to help our players travel to the biggest event in the competitive smash history Apex 2012.
Note: Only those who have lived in the region for the past 6 months are eligible to receive the stipend.

The rules for Mortal Kombat are as follows:
Freddy is banned until further notice. He must be patched in order to be playable.
Kratos is banned. This is a permanent action unless he ever becomes available for Xbox.
All other DLC characters ARE allowed.
Unlockable and DLC costumes are NOT allowed until further notice. There has been dispute over changes in character properties per costume so in order to prevent any issues, only default costumes shall be chosen.
Super Street Fighter 4
Winners stay as their originally selected character, however can change their ultra move.
Losers can change character and ultra move in the following game.
God Kais Event

The God Kai Challenge is a 3 vs 1 Team Match. Items off/Team Attack Off, timer is Set to 3 minutes and 3 stocks. It will take place before tournament starts, during tournament down times and after the tournament.
The stages will be the Unity stage list.
- Entry is $1 per challenger. The Challenger selects 2 God Kais to challenge and the host (Y.b.M.) selects one God Kai.
- The Goal is to see how many stocks you can take before you lose or before the timer runs out. If a challenger happens to take all stocks and whens the challenge, then the challenger is awarded the ENTIRE pot size up to that point in time
1st place: 70% of the pot and a picture with The God Kais.
- Each win, time, and stock count will be written down throughout the entire event. The more participants the higher the pay ouytThe top 3 players with the most stocks will be awarded accordingly:
2nd place: 20% of the pot
3rd place: 10% of the pot
In the event of a tie or 3 way tie, the participants will face off against one another with one stock Ness dittos. The winner gets the higher placement.
This all for fun and a good way for people to enjoy the tournament on the road to Apex. Maybe make a lil cash as well

If the timer runs out, the victor is determined first by stock and then by percentage. If both are tied, then a 1 stock replay will occur on the same stage, same characters.
In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors
- In team matches, the ports will be determined in a 1221 fashion; whoever wins the RPS will choose first, then the opposing team will get their ports, and then the teammate of the RPS winner will get the last port.
If the game ends in Bowser/Ganon/Kirby/Dedede suicide, do not go into sudden death. A one stock, 4 minutes rematch will occur, same characters, same stage.
In case of a glitchª, alert a TO and they'll decide from there.
ª If you are caught stalling with Wario on Brinstar, you will be DQ'd and you are a jerk.
You are responsible for your own controllers, so be sure to bring an extra controller in case something happens to the one you are using. If your controller malfunctions mid-match, you may request a restart, but both parties must agree on it.
LoZ's Stupid Boner Rule - In the event that you should find yourself excessively enjoying a match or it's surroundings, you are required a 5 minute break to walk it off. This is not optional.

-Scoring will be as follows: Perfect = 0, Great = 1, N.C./N.G. = 2.
-For example: Let's say your set is 5.1.1, Maxx Unlimited, and Kind Lady. You get, on the entire set, 10 greats and 2 boos. Your score for the round will be 14.
-The idea of this tournament is to keep your score as low as possible during each round.
-The bottom half (scorewise) of each round receives a strike, meaning they are at risk for elimination. If you receive two strikes, you are eliminated from the tournament.
