2GGC: Genesis Saga Results

In collaboration with Team Genesis, 2GGaming hosted 2GGC Genesis Saga on January 14th, 2017. The pot for Genesis Saga included a $2,000 bonus to start off their newly announced Championship Circuit. After a single action-packed afternoon, only 8 of 466 entrants remained in bracket at 2GGC: Genesis Saga. Additionally, the winner of this saga was the first person to officially qualify for the 2GG Championship.

As the night went on, we found ourselves with an interesting top 8. In winners’ bracket: ZeRo, Dustin "Zenyou" Rice, Leonardo "MK Leo" Perez and James "VoiD" Tyson were in good shape to take the event. In losers’ bracket: komorikiri, Gavin "Tweek" Dempsey, Jacob "JK" Johnson and Wesley "6WX" Alexander hung on to their tournament lives.

After getting out of pools on winners side, Gonzalo "ZeRo" Barrios faced off with SoCal's up-and-coming national threat, Matt "Elegant" Fitzpatrick. After an intense set, he managed a 3-1 victory over Elegant and advanced to face Eric "Mr. E" Weber. Mr.E is one of the several players that has taken ZeRo down previously. After a swift 3-0 victory, ZeRo continued to prove that he has learned the Marth match-up since that loss.

ZeRo moved onward to fight another SoCal native, local Mario main Zenyou, in a nail biting Winners Semifinals set. After securing the win with a clutch 3-2 victory, ZeRo squared off with fan favorite VoiD in winners finals. A solid 3-0 win secured ZeRo a spot in grand finals and a short break from the action.

Meanwhile in losers bracket, komorikiri ran through players such as Samuel "Dabuz" Buzby, Griffin "Fatality" Miller, 6WX, Tweek and VoiD for the opportunity to square off with ZeRo in Grand Finals.

ZeRo and komorikiri have met each other numerous times in bracket throughout several tournaments. Each time, ZeRo has always come out on top. In yet another assertion of his dominance, ZeRo closed out his match with komirikiri with a dominant 3-1 victory. ZeRo managed yet another 2GG Saga victory, this time without even allowing a bracket reset.
