2 months since a character was announced

I'm sure u all have noticed this but as of christmas it has ooficially been 2 months since we've had a character confirmation for brawl. do u think we will get anymore Newcomers or even a veteran before it is released in japan or is there some reason Sakurai is keeping them from us

To be honest, it all depends on Sakurai. But I was talking to a friend last night (always talk about Brawl stuff heh). We were thinking, presuming 3rd party characters are still unlockables, theres 21 characters shown, meaning 20 on the character selection screen so far that would, or could be default characters. Personally, I think the whole starting roster has been shown, and I think we wont get anything 'New Character!' new, until atleast the release in Japan :\

I agree with this man. We STILL don't even have Zelda's special moves, much less her final smash. But then we don't have special moves for most of the veterans, which is just as well since we know them all....

I'm guessing (like I've heard happened with Melee) we'll get C. Falcon (Zelda for Melee) a day or two before its released, or as a "does he look farmiliar?" 1st seceret character update after the Japan release, maybe not anyone until then though... cept for Sheik. Maybe they made the Captain a seceret classic mode/target/event character because they couldn't think of a place for him in SSE... well either that or I showed how little I know of F-zero.

Yea that gap's been bugging me for a while. Maybe that is the ace in the hole Sakurai is hiding to shock the community before the release.

Dont get your hopes up though, all the bombshell news was released well before the delay. It's doubtful that they can program and release a new character in a 3-4 week time frame.

Dude. They don't JUST start programming and working on a character when the announce them. In fact, When they announce a character, they've been WELL into development. Probably a month or so. I say right now they are just getting license agreements, bug fixing, and testing. The game is probably already done. All Sakurai needs to do is announce them at the right time, or if/when he feels like it.

I personally think the reason behind the lack of new characters is because they don't want to spoil the surprise of the rest of the characters. I mean, what's the fun in just getting most of the full roster before the game is released anywhere?

Bad move bro, Retail usually never gets games upon release date. If you want the game immediately you shoulda reserved somewhere like EB Games and such.

See if you can get a refund then take your business elsewhere.

Hence why I used the qualifier usually. Not all instances are guarenteed, but from what I've seen most major games (including brawl) have yet to make release date in Retail stores.

Sakurai did say he is going to leave the character-revealing to the internet after release... don't expect any other than updates on special moves or final smashes.

Sakurai will probably give us the 3rd(and probably last), 3rd-party character somewhere in early-mid January. The third-parties are, among other things, meant to hype the game up...and they cant do that if nobody knows about them. Other than that, we will, as many said, probably have the 21 (non-3rds) we already have as our starting roster and have the other xx amount as hiddens.

No, it's not nice of them to release dissapointing filler material when the game is on the cusp of being released in Japan.

Well the veteran fighter section is filled up but theres still one more slot in the newcomer section so i can see another new character before the game is out just like a few people have stated already. Makes no sense for the veteran side to have no room and have a space remaining for one more character.

It is getting pathetic, even the greatest defenders of the Dojo are starting to agree... updates are great, Brawl is great, the lack of character updates has been a negative... however, the game is coming soon so don't worry too much about it.
