It’s simple. Write ten new assist trophies you want to be put in Smash. Try to be creative and not just write what everyone’s wanting for newcomers.
1. Balloon Fight
2. Glass Joe
3. M. Bison
4. Count Bleck
5. Space Invaders Ship
6. Sturm
7. Takumi
8. Phoenix Wright
9. Twinrova
10. Urban Champion

I'll do ya one better and give a little description of what they could do, haha.

1) Orbulon (WarioWare): Flies his ship around the stage, typically in close proximity to areas where there are multiple fighters. If his ship is hit, he crashes, causing a large explosion.
2) Eggplant Wizard (Kid Icarus): Shoots projectiles that turn opponents into eggplants with legs. Easy to dodge, but being turned into an eggplant leaves you helpless to do anything other than jump and get pummeled.
3) Nightmare (Metroid): screws with the gravity, either making characters lighter or heavier. This effect stays until his Assist Trophy is over, or he is defeated.
4) Mallo (Pushmo): A Pushmo puzzle appears, and Mallo tries to solve it in the background. The Pushmo creates new platforms, and if a fighter stands in the way of a platform being pulled out, it hurts them and sends them flying.
5) Phoenix Wright (Ace Attorney): Yells "OBJECTION!" and rants about court stuff. His text boxes act likes Mr. Resetti's used to, and the initial "OBJECTION!" does a lot of damage, if the text bubble hits someone.
6) Goombella (Paper Mario): Uses Tattle on an opponent, telling her summoner all about the stats, background, and weaknesses of the opponent she honed in on. Basically a Codec.
7) Chibi-Robo (Chibi-Robo): Marches around the stage, cleaning the ground with his trusty Drake Redcrest toothbrush. Players who walk over the area he's cleaned trip.
8) Poochy (Yoshi's Island): Is basically Gogoat from Smash 4.
9) Urbosa (The Legend of Zelda): Shows up, snaps her fingers, zaps all opponents with Urbosa's Fury, strikes a pose.
10) Zip (Flingsmash): Bounces uncontrollably around the boundaries of the stage, pummeling any opponents in his way.

  • King Hippo (Punch-Out!!): A heavier, slower, but more powerful version of Little Mac from Brawl that when struck hard enough, drops his pants, allowing him to become knocked out when attacked in his belly. Part of the Captain N enemy trio alongside Mother Brain & Eggplant Wizard.
  • Eggplant Wizard (Kid Icarus): Using vegetable magic, traps opponents heads in eggplants, reversing their controls for the duration of his summoning. Part of the Captain N enemy trio alongside Mother Brain & King Hippo.
  • Wart (Super Mario Bros. 2): Wart slowly hops around the stage, spitting streams of bubbles and jets of water at any nearby opponents, causing damage and considerable pushback akin to other water attacks such as Mario's FLUDD, Squirtle's Water Gun, and Pac-Man's Fire Hydrant.
  • Helmaroc King (The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker): A large and powerful Assist Trophy similar in size to Rathalos, the Helmaroc King will fly off the screen when summoned and randomly attack from the left or right of the screen, snatching any opponent too slow to avoid his grasp, taking them off screen and KO'ing them.
  • Dyna Blade (Kirby): Dyna Blade flies to different parts of the stage, attacking whoever is near with hot air pockets and her talons, which cause considerable damage and knockback.
  • Rambi (Donkey Kong Country): The trusty rhinoceros buddy of Donkey & Diddy Kong, Rambi allows whoever summoned him to ride around on him, bashing through opponents and attacks with his powerful horn.
  • Peppy Hare & Slippy Toad (Star Fox): Peppy & Slippy are both summoned together as they strap into their Arwings, attacking the stage from the foreground and background with their blasters and ramming at opponents. Peppy even does a barrel roll on occasion!
  • Doshin/Jashin the Giant: Rising up from the background, Doshin will peacefully watch the battle taking place. However, should anyone be KO'd while he's watching, he will transform into the evil Jashin and let out a piercing scream that does immense knockback, sending everyone who wasn't KO'd flying off-screen!
  • The Snowboard Kids: Slash, Jam, Linda, Nancy, Wendy, Tommy, & Damian all enter the fray, trying to attack each other with Bombs (which cause explosive damage), Freeze Shots (which freeze enemies), Pans (which knock down and trip opponents), and Whirlwinds (which twirl opponents around and launch them skyward), inadvertently attacking everyone on the field other than who summoned them before doing tricks off the sides of the stage.
  • Mumbo Jumbo (Banjo-Kazooie): Assuming Banjo & Kazooie ever do (hopefully) make an appearance, Mumbo would be the perfect Assist Trophy to come along with them, performing similarly to Skull Kid, Ashley, and Riki to Levitate, Heal, project energy attacks, and reverse controls.

A lot of these are just plain goofy. I wanted to pick things that could never pass as an actual fighter, at least not in the ways I've presented.

Circling Boo Buddies (Super Mario) - Rotate in a large circle in the center of the stage, with a small gap to jump into or out of the circle. Touching any of the Boo Buddies causes damage. Lasts for 24 seconds.
Dolphins (Super Mario) - Dozens of Dolphins pop up from the bottom of the screen, jumping at various heights and angles. Some may save fighters from falling off the stage. Others may carry fighters toward the edges of the screen. Basically just chaos. Lasts for 16 seconds.
Pegasus Knights (Fire Emblem) - A whole bunch fly across the screen with polearms, reminiscent of the old Beedrill Pokeball.
Guardian Stalker (Breath of the Wild) - It pinpoints the closest player and fires a laser. Does this three times.
Maw (Splatoon 2) - A glowing ring shows up underneath a fighter. This fighter has about a 1.5 seconds to move before the Maw emerges and completely traps them in its mouth. Will then retreat back underground, leaving the fighter in a dazed state, like with a shield break. Does this 1-5 times, depending on number of fighters.
Queen Spydor (Chibi-Robo) - Pulls in fighters with its web and fires smaller spydors that will swarm the stage.
Rambi (Donkey Kong) - Just runs around barreling through people. Can't be hurt by items, only fighters.
Cranky Kong (Donkey Kong) - Bounces around on his cane and hits people with it.
Three Mage Sisters (Kirby) - One at a time they use a powerful elemental spell. When all three are done they disappear. I know they're pretty new, but since there's three of them, it's unlikely they'll ever be fighters individually, and even less likely they could be one together.
Slippy Toad (Star Fox) - Appears in an Arwing Walker, shooting players as it runs around.

Pipe (Mario) - People that steps in enters in the pipe and are throw away in a new pipe under or sideways of the stage
Groose (Zelda) - Appears on the stage, smile and rapidly builds the Groosenator to throw bombs at the opponents.
Cranky Kong (Dk) - Hit people with his cane and, if not killed until the end, uses the phonograph of DKC1 opening doing area damage
Maxwell (Scriblenauts) - Conjures a dinossaur, or an tornado, or a lot of food, or two assist trophies... and leaves.
Fan Club (Rhytmin Heaven) - Pop singer starts to sing the name of the character who picked the AT while monkeys attack the opponents after each line.

Elite Beat Agents (Elite Beat Agents, NDS)
Glass Joe (Punch Out!, NES/Wii)
Space Invaders (Space Invaders, NES)
Sunset Riders (Sunset Riders, SNES)
Mach Rider (Mach Rider, NES)

Mystery
1. Kamek
- Shoots magic attacks at enemies and warps around the screen. They move quick compared to how they move in Mario and Yoshi games. They can be reflected, and absorbing them heals more damage than normal.

2. Bullet Bill Storm
- Can't be KOed. One Bullet Bill spawns from the assist trophy, and it immediately flies into the background with no potential to damage anything. A few seconds later, it flies back in from the background with a ton of friends. Each Bullet Bill is aimed somewhere at the stage. They're not all going to reach their destination at the same time. They are set to explode as soon as they cross the fighting area however whether they hit or not. It's hard to dodge every bullet bill in the storm. The damage from getting hit by a bullet bill is mediocre, and so is the launch power.

3. Meteo Wizzrobe
- Hops around in the air like they do in Breath of the Wild. After a little bit, it calls upon a meteor shower from the sky. It vanishes from existence like all assist trophies do shortly after. It can be killed before vanishing. The meteor shower however doesn't go away for twenty seconds after the Meteo Wizzrobe has vanished from existence. Slow moving fire balls fall from the sky. They deal damage about equal to being hit by a Hammer twice. The launch power is no joke either, and the angle is straight down if the collision happened in the air.

4. Blizzrobe
- Same as number three, but calls upon a blizzard instead. The ice balls have powerful knock back that always launched upwards, not much damage, and a freeze effect that is extra hard to break out of.

5. Thunder Wizzrobe
- Same as number three, but calls upon a lightning storm instead. The lightning bolts come down in a single frame without warning dealing moderate damage. The stun the bolts inflict is extensive allowing opponents to land a smash attack even with less than optimal reaction time.

6. Blade Knight
- Walks around and uses his sword to fight. When he sees an enemy on the ground, he will dash forward a bit and swing his sword.

7. Team Rocket
- Can't be KOed. Can't be summoned if there are any Pokéballs, Masterballs, or Pokémon from Pokéballs/Masterballs on the stage at that given time. Jessie, James, and Meowth are all present. Each member holds a Pokéball, and they throw them shortly after at the same time. Jessie throws hers to the left, James throws his to the right, and Meowth throws his straight down. The trio disappears shortly after. The physics of the thrown Pokéballs are identical to if the summoner directly threw it meaning each one will summon a Pokémon to fight for the summoner of Team Rocket. They are however still treated as any other Pokéball meaning they can be caught by another person and thrown for a change in ownership over the Pokémon.

8. Glass Joe
- Fights like how the Little Mac assist trophy in Smash Brawl did.

9. Excitebikers
- Summons a whole bunch of excitebikers which zoom around on stage turning at any ledge. Each has a varying speed so they're not always overlapping each other. They also spawn next to each other slightly above the ground and fall down so if they were spawned on a platform, not all of them are stuck.

10. Karate Joe
- Uses a lot of karate moves to attack the opponent. Moves pretty fast around the stage.
