“While it is always best to believe in oneself, a little help from others can be a great blessing.”

Iroh (also known by General Iroh, Uncle Iroh, and the Dragon of the West) is a main supporting character in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Iroh is the son of the late Fire Lord Azulon and was first in line to become Fire Lord and rule over the Fire Nation. Iroh has been described by many to as wise, easy-going, and spiritual man. Iroh had a more different view compared to the other members of his family. Iroh was more compassionate member of the Fire Nation Royal Family, admiring the four elements and didn’t seek to go down a ruthless path like his father. Iroh also had a son named Lu Ten, Iroh and Lu Ten both loved and cared for one another.

Iroh became a renowned general for the Fire Nation. Iroh enjoyed his job as a military commander and fully embraced his role as the future Fire Lord. At the time, he wanted to honor his father Azulon and grandfather Sozin. Eventually, Iroh decided to fulfill a vision he witnessed in his youth of him conquering the capital of the Earth Kingdom, Ba Sing Se. The campaign lasted for six hundred days and managed he army managed to break into the Inner Walls of the city. However, Iroh learned that his son Lu Ten was killed in combat. Iroh was completely struck down in grief, losing his desire for conquest. Iroh decided to abandon the siege and return home in shame, he was seen by many as a failure. Iroh soon learned that his father Sozin died, however he did not take the throne and just let his brother Ozai have it. Before returning home, Iroh took a long spiritual journey. It’s been rumored that Iroh went to the Spirit World to try and find his son. Lu Ten’s death and his journey changed Iroh forever, he wanted to relax and appreciate life.

After returning back home, Iroh started to view Zuko as a son to him. Iroh wanted Zuko to choose his own destiny, instead of being forced to be what his father desired. When Zuko got banished from the Fire Nation, Iroh joined him on his journey to capture the Avatar. Throughout most of Zuko’s journey, Iroh has been there to guide and train Prince Zuko. Zuko even started to view his uncle as a true father figure. Iroh’s lessons stayed with Prince Zuko and helped him all the way up to the end. I don’t want to spoil too much, I highly recommend watching Avatar: The Last Airbender to learn more

Iroh definitely has the potential for a moveset. Iroh is a fire bender and could represent the Fire Nation in Nickelodeon: All Star Brawl. Iroh had some fire abilities completely unique from most fire benders. Before his journey after Lu Ten’s death, Iroh left the Fire Nation to seek enlightenment. Iroh studied other benders, incorporating the different techniques to fire bending. He also came across the Sun Warriors, along with the dragons, Ran and Shaw. The dragons taught him the secrets of fire bending and the importance of balance in all things, he learned to use Fire bending without the need for anger and hatred. The Sun Warriors also taught him to breath fire with exceptional mastery.

Iroh doesn’t just process unique fire bending, he has also been known to be super strong. Spoilers down below, when Zuko betrayed his uncle and got him locked up in a Fire Nation prison, Iroh constantly trained himself to be super strong. Everyday he would do his best to keep his strength up. In his cage, Iroh would do push ups and crunches, he would even do push up on the ceiling bars of the cage. Eventually he got strong enough to break free out of his cage and took down anyone blocking his path out. Just because your old, that doesn’t mean you can’t be strong and put up a fight.

Iroh is a very beloved fan favorite character in the world of Avatar. Iroh’s heart and wise words has resinated with almost anyone that watches Avatar: The Last Airbender. Iroh was even one of the few characters to appear in both TLAB and TLOK. Iroh’s inclusion could be a really fun out of left field pick for NASB. Iroh’s inclusion could also finally add a Fire Nation rep into the game. Iroh may not be the most highly requested Avatar character for Nickelodeon: All Star Brawl, he could still be an interesting character to play as.

I'm down. Iroh is my favorite Avatar character, and while Zuko seems more likely (and possibly more deserving), Iroh is just so damn cool that I want to support him anyway.
