    I go against a friend who mains bowser and is very defensive and shield grabs and I play ness and was wondering how I could beat him

    The nice thing about being a Ness main and you are going against Bowser is that it renders one of Bowser's specials useless. If Bowser uses his Normal special, you can use your down special to absorb the fire to heal up. Fortunately, most of Ness' specials are not close range. PK Thunder can go the farthest. So if he likes to be as far from you as possible, you can use PK Thunder.
