It's hard to tell from the Internet as to whether or not they're friendly and such. If you were to ask, try to make them consider your situation, and why you're rather not have to go through creating a FB account just for that. Tell them, you're a minor and all that.
As a last resort, just make a "burner" account. I did one of those, one time. I don't use FB, either. I don't know if your cel number is mandatory, but otherwise, you don't even need your full real name and details.
