  • Tomstone Crusher is really cool but I never use it. ]: Spinning Dragon to Left Hook is also really cool and pretty good and super underrated but I forget to use it.

Dtilt is also a move I like but it just feels like a 2nd DSmash that's also potentially worse and very slow and awkward/clunky to land.
I feel a lot more consistent with the inputs everytime I go into Training Mode, and even though it's not a real match, I feel I should be getting them by now. Practice really does pay off, it's just that wifi is discouraging.

Landing that Nair after EWGF is surprisingly almost harder than EWGF itself.

That's really easy, you just have to do a double jump Nair and wait slightly until they drop below you (so it spikes). Thing is, it might not combo afterwards. or I'm doing it wrong (or against the wrong characters). My friend kept just falling down and shielding, which is why I did Side B afterwards (just a read). The optimal thing to do is to aparently wait until they drop about halfway and then do a fastfall Nair, and then you can other stuff like Crouch Jab (arguably the best), Down Ftilt, Utilt1, etc.

Practicing some crazy ass **** with Sephiroth's Nair. Been at it for like 2-3 hours, I keep coming back to it because I'm pretty much obssesed with this combo, and I'm also really getting the hang of it.
    Did you quit yet.

Technically, I quit Ultimate a long time ago. I got my friend SCVI for his birthday when it went on sale on Steam and he's enjoying it so far after briefly going back to Ultimate and quitting again. We played yesterday and it was pretty fun even if I haven't decided on a main and thus didn't have my combos down.

I think we'll be playing this going forward for a while because we're both burnt out on Smash at the moment (though we might still play Melee).

Since I completely dropped wifi now I almost went three entire weeks without offline, and I was very rusty at the start (even though I practice frequently nowadays). But I kicked off really well, and I played really well with Zelda. I'm learning how to ledgetrap better with Phantom, and it's mostly a matter of timing the slash when you read a ledge option, as well as using Dtilt for either a 2 frame or hitting popping them up if they wait. I got two Ignis earlier, and that's pretty rare.

I can certainly see it in that video you dropped in the video thread. Phantom ledgetrap is pretty amazing and my friend with many hours of experience against it still struggles.

Completely dropped wifi, and I'm only making an exception of playing one of my friends. I haven't really been playing the game save Training Mode, and it's still miles better than playing most days and feeling underwhelmed or overwhelmed by toxic emotions.

To be honest, I think Sephiroth is more conducive to how you play than Zelda. You tend to look pretty clean with him.

I wouldn't go as far to say he looks "cleaner" than my Zelda, but it's a start. I have way more stuff with Zelda, and it's pretty clear.

    But, thank you.

I've actually been trying really hard to get more stuff with him, but I didn't really get a ton. You can't force these things as much people assume, and I don't feel like going on Quickplay for it. Been kind of neglecting my Zelda and Byleth for the last three weeks, and I won't let that happen.

FH is really good and not technically demanding. While IDJ does have it's benefit, it's not necessarily leagues better. I'm actually experimenting using Neutral B out of certain combos, such as DThrow > Neutral B and Dair > Neutral B to create more follow ups.

I can't blame you, especially when online is your only option. Every time I try giving online another chance, I just end up taking like 10 days+ off from it, and now all I do is just do Training Mode by myself or against a lvl.9 cpu. It's so counterintuitive even that feels more fun than playing online. They've also reinforced COVID measures over here, so I'm not playing one of my other friends during the week as I used to, so it's only once a week.

Honestly, you should try finding someone you're fairly comfterble playing and you feel you can improve. I'm not saying to stick to your "comfort zone" in the usual sense, but just enough so you play and don't feel like wifi or "jank" robs you. I'm considering it, but only as long as I play certain people. That's how bad online is, and you can't blame us.
Analyzing your own matches can be really hard if you don't have all these "obvious" patterns, like rolling, spotdoding or jumping in the same situational. I get too caught up in the details that I can't point to something more general to try and undertstand what I'm really doing wrong.

Even if you try analyzing in detail, matches are really just a sum of your general habits and not minor details.

I've been thinking about the idea, but I might hold off for a while. I don't want to feel like I'm a slave to others' opinion, and sometimes doing that basically leads to that, it's just most people find it normal and live with that idea. It's fun for a while, but eventually, it just gets to you on a personal level. Even if it's generally positive opinion, you end up relying too much on it.
I really do enjoy Ultimate, it's just hard to really weigh the good and the bad properly. The good is really good for, like among the best I've experienced in Smash, but the bad is also really bad... and pretty damn common, especially in online. People make it seem like the game really is that bad, but online really exaggerates the bad parts.
Going to do my best not to pull a victim card for now on. Ultimate online really pushed me there.

If it were that simple. Not many people understand when you really like something with a ton of ****ty flaws. I really can't find that many people that relate to that, and they just think "well just quit", when it really isn't that simple.

I played Pokemon for thousands of hours. Then I realized Pokemon ticked me off with everything wrong with it. So what did I do? I played Pokemon less and Yo-Kai Watch more because YKW is an infinitely better game where none of the flaws Pokemon has exist.

I played Smash Ultimate for thousands of hours. Then I realized Ultimate ticked me off with everything wrong with it. So what did I do? I played Ultimate less and Project M more because PM is an infinitely better game where none of the flaws Ultimate has exist.

Speaking fully from experience and relating perfectly to your situation to a tee, I can fairly say that it IS that simple.

Play other games, seriously. That shouldn't be a hard thing to do.

Well, I didn't say I wouldn't play other games, I just meant it isn't that easy for me to quit because there are things I like about it. It's not just "i hate everything about it" and that's it.

I have tried PM around 2013-2014, I do think it's a very well made mod.
