I grew up in the "dark age" of Sonic and I often get accused of having nostalgia bias for the Classic trilogy.

Both are true.

Each generation and console has it's good games and it's bad games unless it's the CDI or Virtual Boy has literally all the games on those two consoles are bad except for Wario Land.

Recency bias gets a pass because the library of older titles is vast and the volume of newer titles coming out is large, but nostalgia fiends are always annoying. There will always be a certain amount of good, bad, and mediocre from any generation, but newer will always be technically better and more efficient due to refinement of technology and technique in a general sense (meaning not always true with individual examples).
