Every Smash game keeps upping itself with the newcomer count as 64 had 12, Melee had 14, Brawl had 17, Smash 4 had 18, and Ultimate will have 23 after Fighter's Pass 2 and maybe even more if the DLC continues after that.

Well, I wouldn't be so sure Fighter's Pass 2 is the end until we get very near the last fighter in the Pass without hearing any news about more DLC. I think it will be safe to assume this is it if we don't hear anything by FP10's announcement.

I'll be a little upset about not seeing all the veterans together in the future Smash installments, but I'll get over it as long as at least half of my mains are still around. The Original 12 must never be cut no matter what along with the main co-protagonists and antagonists to the Original 12's franchises.

You are 100% correct about that, R RetrogamerMax . I would actually not mind if the majority of newcomers in Ultimate disappear. Just keep K.Rool, Ridley, and whatever characters were cut from Brawl, and remove Toon Link!
