  • A good thing about the modern Paper Mario trilogy is that it utilizes the concept of a paper world more than the old Paper Mario trilogy did. In SS, CS, and OK, there's scissors, tape, paper clips, paste and all kinds of things that are a threat to paper characters. And the stories for the first 3 games didn't HAVE to be told by paper characters. TTYD is a fantastic game but the story is about Mario and his allies collecting the Crystal Stars and stopping the X-Nauts. This isn't a conflict that's unique to characters that are made of paper. This plot could have been used for a Mario & Luigi game. Not that I don't like it being used for a Paper Mario game, just saying.
What have we learned about character movesets so far? We learned that Sakurai never makes an attack play and function EXACTLY the way it does in its original game. In Super Mario Bros., Mario's fireballs bounce faster and further than they do in the Smash series.
So far Vol. 2's release schedule is comparable to Vol. 1's release schedule. The wait the first character in each of these Fighter's Passes was close to the same amount of time. 4 and a half months for the first Vol. 1 character and 5 months for the first Vol. 2 character. Also the wait for the 2nd character in each of the passes was 3 and a half months and the wait for every character after the first two in a pass is never longer than 2 and half months so there's a chance that Vol. 2 will finish in either June or July.

That's only if we get the next fighter in the Spring because if we don't and we still get two at E3 if that happens, than I could see them dragging the release of the last FP2 fighter all the way to the VGAs/December to the deadline. It would suck, but I think that's likely the case if we don't get another reveal in the Spring before Summer time.

I assume Sak will try to take his time with these characters, since we've got until December (or November?) for all three to release.
Nintendo: The Paper Mario: The Origami King bosses will include a giant pair a scissors, a giant hole puncher and a giant stapler.
    Fans: Why?! That's stupid!
Nintendo: Would you rather have the Koopalings as bosses again?
    Fans: No way!

    Yes I would.

I personally liked the bosses in Origami King. They all had something unique to them and it was fun trying to figure out the best way to move and attack.

    Both suck.

Make the villain some evil fanfic writer that writes all his ideas on paper and they come to life or something. Would be something different and less dumb and fall in with the paper thing.
You could make an argument that SMRPG and the Mario & Luigi games can be considered mainline Mario games and not spin off games. I know their genre is RPG and the mainline Mario genre is 2D/3D platformer but in the RPGs, Mario jumps on enemies and uses items to defeat enemies just like he does in mainline Mario games.
The Splatoon games look like they take place in summer, so summer is a very marketable time to release Splatoon games. That must be why Splatoon 1 and 2 both released in summer.

They should release them in winter so that when everyone is tired of the cold they can see the nice summer weather and then buy splatoon.
It would probably be easy to get Banjo-Kazooie and Blast Corps on Wii U Virtual Console now. They would be the old versions of games that are part of IPs Microsoft doesn't use often and the Wii U is a discontinued console so putting a 1st party game on a rival company's discontinued console wouldn't hurt.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
They won't do that since putting anymore VC games on a dead console is throwing away money from a business prospective since literally barely anybody would buy it now being on the Wii U Eshop which will only probably live for a couple of more years before they shut it down.

I think it would just be easier and safer for the fans if Nintendo and Microsoft either port Rare Replay on the Switch or put all the Rareware N64 games on the N64 Mini and call it a day since their partnership may not last forever. I whether have these games on something physical like a Switch cart or a N64 Mini instead of it just being available on Switch Online only for them to be taken down later in the scenario Nintendo and Microsoft's partnership ends.
Will Fire Emblem get more merchandise soon? There's already Fire Emblem phone stickers but what if there was also Fire Emblem T shirts, Fire Emblem plush toys and action figures, Fire Emblem beach towels, Fire Emblem coffee mugs and official Halloween costumes of Chrom and Lucina?
Is 2017 one of the best years in gaming? Every console had at least one major hit. XBOX One had Cuphead, PS4 had Persona 5 and Switch had BOTW and Odyssey.
Ultimate will have 23 newcomers in all.

We don't know that for sure yet. You shouldn't assume just because almost everyone else thinks the same when non of us really knows.

Ultimate's base game had 6 unique newcomers and 5 echo newcomers, that's 11 newcomers. There's also Piranha Plant, the 5 Vol. 1 characters and the 6 Vol. 2 newcomers. That's 23 newcomers total.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
Yes. But that doesn't mean that's it unless Sakurai says so.
In Smash 6, Fire Emblem Heroes Orbs should be collectable items. Collect 3 and you'll summon a random non playable FE character to help. There could also be 40 different FE characters that can be summoned.
Every Smash game should have a minimum of 15 unique newcomers. Wouldn't you agree?

I mean depending on how it goes your mains might be changed so much you don't want to main them anymore, but eh, I don't know if that'll happen

this is one of the reasons I want the dlc to be over already, i'm getting anxious over how Smash 6 will go

will it be a hard reboot? a soft reboot? a port? or just a straight up normal sequel like the last two games before ultimate?
    R
    RetrogamerMax
Like, I would be even more content with some of my lower mains like Palutena, Lucina, Duck Hunt, getting cut if they add other characters I want like Krystal, Dixie Kong, ect into the next game.

I would desire that it be as revolutionary as possible, Otoad64 Otoad64 . For example, I know it is a lot of work, but I would like to see a three-dimensional, open-world framework.
Will there be a double reveal in Vol. 2? Vol. 1 had one. If only one character gets announced next, the last two could get announced at the same time. Sakurai could even make a final video presentation to talk about them. He made a final video presentation for Smash 4.

I only see a double reveal happening if we get two characters from the same franchise or universe. Let's say KOS-MOS from Xenosaga and Elma or Rex & Pyra are both in Fighter's Pass 2, I think KOS-MOS and a Xenoblade rep would have a double reveal trailer together since they're both from the Xenoverse and they would both be in the same Pass. But the chances of something like that happening is incredibly unlikely.
One good thing about Min Min's inclusion is that her inclusion is going to help ARMS's sales. Some Smash fans will become curious about her origins, get interested in her game and then buy it.
ARMS and Xenoblade 2 are both hated but at least the people care about Xenoblade 2 enough to talk about it and explain why it's bad. No one ever talks about ARMS, not even the people who hate it. No YouTubers ever make 30 minute long videos that explain why ARMS is bad.

The only hate I see for Xenoblade 2 is that Rex is an annoying character.

Besides that I see people happy with the gameplay and exploration.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and X behind it, one considered one of the greatest RPGs ever made (at least from what I've been hearing), and the other's an underrated gem called Xenoblade Chronicles. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 had big shoes to fill in, making the fact it was just "ok" to be a big disappointment. It's like if critically acclaimed series Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball had it's third game plot be terrible and it just threw in forced fan service that people when playing a Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball game don't want, they want engaging characters in a fantastic world with cool mechanics.

What did ARMS have to live up to? Pokken Tournament?
There's no way this pandemic is going to go on forever. My guess is that the end 2021 is when we can stop social distancing and wearing masks.

If both of our searches are correct, Goomboi Goomboi , then not even close. Between 2019 and 2020, influenza was responsible for less than 25,000 deaths. On the other hand, corona virus, in a similar period of time, has caused over 300,000 deaths, and I hear that this may near 400,000 by inauguration day. That is a drastic difference.
    Goomboi

Yeah ok my bad then. I do wonder if this was worse than the Spanish flu though.
Edit: A quick Google search says that fatality rate of Spanish Influenza was 1% and you figured the death rate of covid is 1.4% so it is slightly more deadly than the Spanish flu.

Is Corrin the worst FE lord of all time?
    CheeseAnton

From what I remember of playing Conquest, I also HATED how naive he is. "no, we musn't kill enemies, we must lock them away or whatever" like this is WAR, you don't just refuse to kill people. Hey, Soren...

yeah, you, put that book down right now, please go over to Corrin and talk to him. He's being stupid and stubborn, he doesn't want to kill people in war, and puts trust in everything and a block of cheese.
    Inkling Man
    Inkling Man
It's understandable that he wouldn't want to kill the Hoshido royals or the Kitsune though. So what if there's a war going on? Corrin's army could have run away from the Kitsune instead of fighting them or they could have looked for a route to take that doesn't cut through the Kitsune lair.
    Pokelego999
    Pokelego999
I mean, some instances, like Inkling Man Inkling Man mentioned, make sense, but random troops? I'm not saying purposely kill them for the sake of but sometimes it might be necessary.
If Smash is about gaming history in general, then 3rd party characters aren't considered guest characters anymore.
    D

The only reason people still call them that is I guess to equate them with guests in other fighting games.
Kid Icarus: Uprising is a great game, but the Aurum are aliens and aliens don't fit the narrative of Kid Icarus. It's a series that's supposed to be about Greek Mythology. Imagine if there was a Fire Emblem game that had aliens who use UFOs and other technology. That wouldn't be fitting in Fire Emblem's narrative. It was also never established that aliens exist in the Kid Icarus universe.
    Venus of the Desert Bloom
    Venus of the Desert Bloom
It actually does make some sense given that Uprising borrows a lot of various media and genres and the action, content, and story is rather humorous and over-the-top. Fire Emblem is a far more serious game with a story and setting where aliens couldn’t logically be included (unless like one comes in via meteor and takes on the guise of a shining princess and is worshipped by the land lol). Aliens make far more sense to be included in Kid Icarus.
There's no point of taking Netflix off the Wii U and 3DS if it's not coming to Switch. Also why is it still not on Switch? A newer console should do everything that the previous console could do.
In Rise of Skywalker we learn that Rey is Palpatine's granddaughter but when was it established that Palpatine had children?
You know you're an awful franchise owner when someone else treats your franchise better than you do. Sakurai treats Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania and Banjo-Kazooie better than Konami and Microsoft do.
Sonic is about as popular as Zelda so why doesn't Sonic have at least 5 reps? We should have Tails, Knuckles, Shadow and maybe Amy.

As much as I love Sonic, I dunno if it needs to go crazy with characters. I think Eggman and Knuckles/Shadow would be nice, but outside of getting Eggman in I don't really feel too much Sonic content is missing ATM outside of a desperate need for remixes and better stages.

    Just my thoughts, though.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
All Sonic really needs in the roster is Sonic, Tails, Eggman, Knuckles, and Shadow. Those are the big 5 that absolutely must be in. Anyone else is either less notable or less important.

We should have known Sakurai wasn't going to let Ultimate get away with not having Byleth.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
More like we should have known Nintendo wasn't going to let Ultimate get away without having a Three Houses rep. That was mostly Nintendo's decision more than Sakurai's.
You should only quarantine if you either have the virus or have been exposed to the virus. Quarantine is also only supposed to last 10-20 days and afterwards you can go back to school or work.

That was mostly the first month, but things slowly started opening back up. Wasn't until month 7-8 restaurants started opening back up (and this was outside, at first), and now things are basically normal bar face masks.

The reason so many people in America decided not to stay inside is the very reason I'm getting my education from a laptop.
"Chrom should be cut because he doesn't represent anything that's not already represented by other Fire Emblem reps." The same thing can be said about Roy but Chrom is much more popular among FE fans than Roy is. If we have to cut a FE rep, cut Roy instead.
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
I wouldn't use another Fire Emblem example to justify a Fire Emblem example.

With Pokemon's reps, you could argue cutting Greninja and Incineroar is justified since they just represent Starter Pokemon which we already have with Pokemon Trainer and only represent newer gens which PokeBalls can do.
    RealPokeFan11
    RealPokeFan11
With Pokémon, a vast majority of its fighters are unique, while Fire Emblem has multiple echoes and semiclones, so I can understand wanting to cut a character. But there's no way in hell I would cut Roy though. He's at least somewhat unique, and he's more of a fan favorite among Smash fans, so I would pick Chrom to cut. He just felt unnecessary. As for Pokémon, I would definitely cut Incineroar for Nihilego because he was kinda disappointing.

    And as they say...
    ROY'S OUR BOY!
Zeke from Xenoblade 2 seems like a normal character at times in the story but he's also weird in the story sometimes. Some of his lines of dialogue make him sound exactly like Owain from Fire Emblem Awakening, a character who was designed to be a weirdo.
If there's people who think the Smash series is art and should end just because Ultimate left the series on a high note and don't want to risk having a Smash 6 to ruin the series after Ultimate, the Smash is not art. It's a museum. We need the Smash series to go on and on forever to showcase future games which are art. Plus who says Smash 6 wouldn't be good? Nintendo has all the money and resources needed to make Smash 6 have even more content than Ultimate had and if some 3rd parties can't come back, we can just add other characters to fill in for them.
Remember that at least one major 1st party title always releases every 2-3 months. We got Age of Calamity in November and SM3DW + Bowser's Fury is coming next month.
Even if Banjo doesn't a new game, his Smash inclusion is just as good as a new Banjo game.

At this point, I'm fine with just having Rare characters in Smash over new games as Rare is a former shell of itself nowadays and they don't even make games for their classic IPs anymore but instead allow Microsoft to let another studio do the job.
