  • In The Big Bang Theory, Leanord is the protagonist and Sheldon is the deuteragonist/comic relief.

I used to think Leonard was underrated but Sheldon is honestly a whole monster of it's own. It'd still be erronous to say Sheldon alone carries the show, with good characters like Raj and Wallowitz.

It's like that in a lot of sitcoms, honestly.

Leonard is the most "normal" character out of the 4, but it's also funny how much he can tolerate Sheldon.
Is Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash shovelware?
    Janx_uwu
    Janx_uwu
They put zero effort into it, it was clearly made just so they could have a Mario Tennis game. It’s like Sonic Forces, there’s no effort to begin with and it just ends up being bad because of it.
I don’t know if it’s shovelware, but it’s certainly on the same quality level as those games.

If you don't want a certain character, then why ask for said character?
    Perkilator
    Perkilator
Uh, what? Why would anyone ask for a character they don’t even want in the first place, then say they don’t want them?
    Inkling Man
    Inkling Man
Take Waluigi for instance, some say he's just a meme pick. If people didn't actually want him, they wouldn't be asking for him.
    Pokelego999
    Pokelego999
You know not everyone here wants Waluigi right? Those who say they don't want him don't want him, and those who do do ask for him.
I hope Xenoblade gets the FE treatment, getting a new rep in each Smash game, this way FE won't be singled out anymore for having "too many reps." Now obviously it's way too early for Xenoblade to get 8 reps since it only has 4 installments but the more installments it gets, the more reps it will have by the time the 10th Smash game releases. Also the reason FE has 8 reps is because it has a rotating cast of characters in each game, just like Xenoblade does.
Remember that Iwata wouldn't have wanted us to pay to play online. If he was still around, he would have hated that his company is ignoring his wishes.
Many stores I go to don't have Xenoblade 2 on their shelves anymore. Now there's two possible reasons why Xenoblade 2 isn't on store shelves anymore. One, having it on the shelf along with Xenoblade 1 DE would be redundant and two, having it on the shelf with Xenoblade 1 DE could interfere with Xenoblade 1 DE's sales.
Did the Smash developers really make Min Min and Steve while they were at home in quarantine? If so it's interesting how Min Min and Steve were homemade.
Steve visually fits in better than the Fire Emblem characters do.

Most of the characters in Smash are cartoony looking while anime humanoid characters only make up about 1/3 of the roster.

Well, technically 99% of the Smash roster is kind of animaish whether they're cartoony or anime humanoid because excluding Banjo & Kazooie, Steve, Diddy Kong, King K. Rool, and Dark Samus the rest of the roster was originally made by Japanese developers thus most of the roster's origin being Japanese. Anime looking characters should be considered normal because Smash, Nintendo, and most parties associated are Japanese afterall.
Do people think ARMS is so devoid of substance that the game isn't worth talking about? A lot people say ARMS is bad but they never explain why it's bad. A lot of people think Xenoblade 2 is bad too but at least they care about it enough to explain why they think it's bad.
    MooMew64
    MooMew64
There's two sides to the whole "ARMS is bad" topic.

One is "Ha ha, ARMS bad, dead game, funny meme! Waifus!!!"

The other side actually takes the time to properly explain why they dislike it, and it's simply that some people just found the game boring. Admittedly, outside of the core gameplay, there isn't anything to do: No story mode, no side modes, and most of the different stages don't change up the core mechanics enough to be a substantially different experience.

ARMS is far from a dead game or a "failure" that some love to push, though. It wasn't a Splatoon, but asking for another Splatoon was asking for lightning in a bottle. It isn't a realistic expectation, especially for a fighting game IP. For what it is, 2+ million (rough guess given this was the last number I could find on it's numbers, exact data is hard to find) is amazing, and it outsold other IPs like Metroid or Pikmin. Not throwing shade on those games, by the way: They're awesome games! But I feel like people throw ARMs under the bus a ton, and I personally feel it's really not super warranted.

ARMs isn't a bad game. Maybe a little boring, but not bad at all. "ARMs flopped" is the same tired argument ARMs fans had to hear for over three months, because the Smash fanbase couldn't stop seething over an ARMS rep (and god forbid, a spirit promotion!) because it apparently "flopped". And god forbid if you wanted an ARMS rep like Spring Man.

Funny, because an ARMS rep still got into Smash regardless. So, they can keep seething.

    MooMew is completely right.

Edit: It's a bit devoid of content, but far from a failure. It did pretty well, all things considered. Wasn't the next Splatoon, but for a new fighting game IP, it didn't do so bad. It was by no means a "flop." Anyone who tells you that probably unironically thought spirits deconfirmed, and WANTED them to be deconfirmed to take a crap on fanbases who did nothing wrong.

Don't listen to those bandwagoners, they're up their own ass.
Why don't other Nintendo IPs have fanbases that are like Smash's fanbase?

Not to mention sites like Marilland, PokeCommunity forums, NuggetBridge and even Smogon forums to this day continues to be a relevant Pokemon forum site.

Pokemon has SO many unofficial dedicated database and forum sites, it's ridiculous.

Yeah, forgot to list Smogon. That's a really prominent community, pretty much everything competitive Pokemon-related stems from there. Sub-sections of fanbases aren't just limited to Smash.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
Well for one thing, the main reason like 90% of Smash fans are into the speculation scene is because of everyones' investment in the roster. There is no game in the world where the fans of said game is as invested into it's roster as much as Smash's. It's the biggest fighting crossover game if you don't count Mugen and everyone and their mommy wants all their favorite characters in the game. The investment and time towards what newcomers get in or not is what makes fans in the Smash community so different from any other fanbase.
The 1918 pandemic came to an end, so why wouldn't the 2020 pandemic come to an end?

1918 is a hilariously different world compared to the modern age.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
Shroob Shroob is right. Plus every nation now is pretty modernized and connected with each other compared to 1918 when technology and the airlines wasn't as globally connected and efficient as it is today. Diseases can spread pretty quickly and around the world now.
    Spongeboob
    Spongeboob
Eventually, it's going to end one way or another. Anyways, I don't think that's an apt comparison because, like Shroob Shroob and R RetrogamerMax pointed out, 1918 was a vastly different time from now. Sure, we're probably more likely to survive something like this than we were in 1918, but it's a different virus with different attributes from what was experienced with the Spanish flu.
Chris Seavor (the voice of Conker) says he would come back to voice Conker if Conker was to join Smash. Conker confirmed?
If Steve becomes a base game character in Smash 6, then Smash 6 could outsell Ultimate given how popular Minecraft is. Putting Minecraft content in a game boosts the game's sales greatly.
Banjo-Tooie is good but it has a few disturbing parts in it. For instance, when Banjo and Kazooie tell Jamjars that Bottles died, he doesn't act upset or remorseful about it. He just says "Typical."
    L
    link2702
I mean...Jamjars is supposed to be the stereotypical "tough soldier", who has squashed all emotions entirely out of him.

Also Banjo and Kazooie kill George and Mildred the innocent talking ice cubes. What's worse is that you HAVE to kill them to make progress in the game.

Rare should become an independent company like SEGA, Capcom and Namco. This way they would be able to make Banjo, Conker, Battletoads, Killer Instinct and Sea of Theives games for every home console.

I'd expect only that last one, seeing as they've clearly moved on from the rest of their early IPs at this point.

I would love that to happen, but that's never going to happen since they're owned by one of the biggest corporations on the whole damn planet. That's literally a pipedream that will never come true.
Xenoblade 2 sold more than 2 million copies but most of its sales were made before Shulk was added to Xenoblade 2. This means Xenoblade doesn't need support from Smash in order to stand on it's own two feet. It can sell on its own merits. Not that we don't need Rex though, he must be in Vol. 2.

How are those two things correlated in any way?

Because putting a character from Smash into another game helps that game sell better but Xenoblade 2 didn't need a Smash character in it to help it become successful.
What was so important about the Big House tournament anyway?
    Wigglerman
    Wigglerman
It's a regular event and probably the biggest event being held this year. But it isn't inherently about Big House itself. It's the fact that Nintendo is arbitrarily stepping in to stop a big event during a trying time for people. To halt this event during Covid just feels like a totally out of touch and **** move. Nintendo flexing when it really has no reason to. Nintendo being Nintendo at their worst.
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
Essentially cowardice and being awful just because they have the right to.

Just like how they tried to cancel the EVO Melee tournament whose money and donations would be going towards breast cancer research and now they're cancelling a tournament where people are trying to hold onto their sanity and trying to have a good time together in a trying time.

Nintendo having 0 empathy, so to speak.

Surely Nintendo has an upcoming game after AoC that's planned for December, right?
    MooMew64
    MooMew64
Probably gonna have to wait until 3D World port, TBH. I imagine Nintendo's sitting out December outside of the slight chance something happens at TGA, and I'm kinda doubtful personally.
    Perkilator
    Perkilator
…Really? After they canned the Big House earlier today, that’s what you’re worried about?

To answer your question, no. Any further games they have planned (as far as we know) are set for 2021, the Super Mario 3D World port being one of them.
    Inkling Man
    Inkling Man
Just because they haven't announced a game for December yet doesn't mean they won't.
When N64 Online gets added to Switch Online, Diddy Kong Racing needs to be included in it. If Microsoft is OK with Banjo in Smash, they could also be OK with and old game being on Switch where Banjo and Conker are both side characters in the game.
Vol. 2 is ranking in the cash because of Steve so maybe, just maybe Nintendo will change their minds and make a Vol. 3. Ultimate could have as much DLC as possible without making Ultimate suffer from DLC overload.

Sakurai always tells us he's fine though and he gets rest when needed.
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
Pretty sure Sakurai has said in interviews he's overworked because it's his own fault from always scheduling himself for way too many work hours, not letting the other staff actually do their jobs and then doing it all himself like a possessive control freak.

Him not getting any proper rest is absolutely no one's fault but his own and certainly not the fault of Smash fans paying him to the high heavens for the work of numerous game designers BESIDES Sakurai whom just as easily "deserve a break".

I, for one, am not going to settle for less content just because of one person's foolishness.

If people want him to rest so badly, then he can retire. The series would probably be just as good if not better off without him like Kirby is.

Pretty sure that Sak is used to working by now, to the point that he makes sure to be careful with his exercise and dieting regiments. He'll stop when he wants to. And I don't want a second plague to happen because of fate being tempted.
3 years ago the first and only trailer for Bayonetta 3 came out and since then, Platinum and SEGA have told us nothing else about the game. Sure the Nintendo employee from the Feburary 2019 Nintendo Direct said the development on it is going well but no gameplay of it was shown. Maybe development isn't going well. Remember in 2015 why Miyamoto said Pikmin 4 was near completion?

I'm going to take a guess to why assist trophies can't become DLC newcomers. Here's my guess: it could be because the character is already in the game. If Alucard was to be in Vol. 2, his reveal wouldn't be very special since he's already in the game and people would complain about buying a character who's already in the game.
    DrCoeloCephalo
    DrCoeloCephalo
Little Mac and Isabelle were Assist Trophies. No rule or law saying they can't do the same thing within one game when people clearly want that character.

Other games like Yo-Kai Watch has done stuff similar to that, tho granted its DLC is usually free and it's no stranger to crossovers either.

They're not just buying a character that was already there. They're buying a character that was there but not PLAYABLE.
    Inkling Man
    Inkling Man
But Isabelle and Little Mac didn't become playable in the same game they were assist trophies in. Alucard will have to wait until Smash 6 for another chance to become playable.

I'm not sure if you read the thing DrCoeloCephalo DrCoeloCephalo posted right above you. He said there's no law it can't happen, even if it hasn't happened yet.
Say Sora did join Vol. 2. If he had the Mickey Mouse chain on his Keyblade, people would think non video game characters are eligible and more people would campaign for them. They could replace the Mickey chain with a Smash symbol chain.
I wish the Ganondorf from Twilight Princess was in Mortal Kombat 11. His design and fighting ability blend great with MK's overall narrative. Plus he could have green blood like in OOT. Nintendo wouldn't want him to have red blood anyway.
The Spring Man Smash Tag icon used to have a dark grey background. It now has a light green background, why is that?
    Janx_uwu
    Janx_uwu
This is why Sakurai never tells us what games he's playing.
The reason Banjo isn't a base game character might be because Ultimate's roster was decided back in 2015 and during that time, Nintendo still wasn't completely open to the idea of having a rival company's character in Smash.
    Spongeboob
    Spongeboob
I'm... skeptical about that since Minecraft was released on Wii U at the end of that year. Also, didn't it enter development in 2016 though?
    Inkling Man
    Inkling Man
Yes but Minecraft Wii U Edition is what helped LEAD to Banjo being in Smash.
If you like Persona 5, you'll probably like FE Three Houses too. Both games are JRPGs that are about anime humanoids and they both have silent protagonists and you can choose what they say. Both games even have in game calanders.
The Wii and Wii U both had N64 games so hopefully N64 Online will get added to Switch Online. Or are N64 games still too valuable to be played for free like NES and SNES games?
    Janx_uwu
    Janx_uwu
You aren't playing the NES and SNES games for free, it's $20 a year. I think it's pretty safe to say we'll get N64 NSO at some point next year.
What if Nintendo bought Microsoft? With their combined strength, they could dominate Sony and bring order to the gaming industry.
    cashregister9
    cashregister9
That would Monopolize the gaming industry removing choice, and increasing costs just to make the rich richer.
    Venus of the Desert Bloom
    Venus of the Desert Bloom
    .... that’s stupid.

Microsoft is far more than just a gaming company and Nintendo doesn’t have any interest (from what we can see) in branching out into other industries. And like, cashregister9 said, it would remove freedom to purchase the console/company of your choice. A mutual partnership and cross platform play between the two consoles would be far better for the industry and the two companies instead of a buy-out.

I highly doubt Nintendo can actually buy out a company like Microsoft. Microsoft constantly ranks in the top 5 in the world, Nintendo, according to a Forbes 2020 report, sits at #87 but, even taking into account that it’s currently Japan’s richest company, it’s still a peddle in a very big pond. It wouldn’t make any sense for Nintendo to spend hundreds of billions of dollars to acquire Microsoft just for the XBox (which Microsoft wouldn’t part with unless the whole package was included) in order to dominate Sony.

Even if Nintendo could do it, the XBox is extremely unpopular in Japan (you know, Nintendo’s main market) and the PlayStation is starting to go by the wayside thanks to the Switch and Mobile. I know your post is in all good fun and not a serious discussion topic but, still, what you said was worthy of a facepalm.
