They did.


They contacted the organizers of the Big House tournament, asking them to not use Slippi because it involves pirated versions of the game and mods. The organizers refused, which led to a cease and desist, since companies generally aren't going to let people make money off of pirated versions of their products.

I don't think Slippi is a mod of Melee but of Dolphin, right? And is there proof on Nintendo's part that these are illegal copies being played? I understand that they may have the legal right to shutdown anything related to their IP, but I don't buy their reasoning in the slightest.
