  • it's interesting what folks say about you when they don't realize you're listening in.

Earlier today I happened to go into twitch streams as a random unassuming name (timmy) to give the appearance that i'm just some random new player in smash, even playing my first stock like a total beginner, spamming smashes and running around randomly throwing out dash attacks, only turning up the heat and playing for real when my opponent took my first stock(in which case I destroyed every one of them.)

So fast forward to one twitch channel that I forgot I followed(I wouldn't have done this pseudo-trolling on an stream I remembered I follow) , I join his arena, and after I turn the heat up and start bodying folks left and right, they start going on about how my ganon is trash and they could beat it if they went their mains. It was only after I revealed who i was several matches later that they were quick to praise my ganon again....and were all visibly embarrassed when I brought up that I had been watching the whole time and heard exactly what they were saying.
I just learned aobut a terrifying website known as "This person does not exist"

it's a website with fake photo's generated by AI that are so close to looking like real people that they can convince you they are.

RealPokeFan11 RealPokeFan11 the problem is, the tech is still out there, and someone else can just use it to perform something dangerous.

Imagine if they used this, along with either a very good imitator, or audio editing software....to say....spread a video claiming a world leader is about to nuke another world leader.

    This **** is terrifying.

Of course, there is just as much danger in the conspiracy theories about it. I am a very skeptical person myself, and sometimes, the argument concerning a problem can be just as convincing as the problem itself. For example, (in the inteest of peace, I shall not name any specifics) there are historical instances of people bound by religion (call them hunters) who persecuted a group of people bound by another religion (but the latter was a secret society). The hunters would spread rumors about the secret society, which may or may not have been true in order to garner popular support for the persecutions. People knew that nasty things happened, but they would not have known to question the rumors. After all, the source did decry the foul habits held by the secret society. One must be wary of conspiracy theories, as well as their subjects. If someone cries, "Deep fake!" Think twice and thrice.
I have to wonder if we'll get an Xenoblade 3 that tries to somehow tie all the previous games together
officially since the dlc bonus in xc2 doesn't actually count, although 1 and 2 are loosely tied together at the end of 2 officially as events happening in its ending are also having the events of the first games ending happening simultaneously with shulk and party defeating klaus

Idk how they'd do it, but whatever the route, I hope they somehow let all the main characters from each game in, and perhaps have mechanics in place during battle based on who the leader is; IE, if shulk is the leader, the gameplay would more closely resemble the first game, hud and all, while if rex was leader, it would be his, same for Elma. and if you form a party of all characters from the same game, they get the full benefits of their games mechanics, so Rex and team can pull off the break/topple/launch/smash combo, shulk and team get....better chain attacks? or more elaborate and effective status effect moves and abilities for crowd control like sleep poisons etc? Or somehow shulk regains his visions? and Elma and team get access to the overdrive.

....of course perhaps i'm just being too optimistic. chances are fi a XC3 does arrive, it'll be in name only, or will only loosely hint at events of the other games and have strictly new characters.

I feel fairly convinced Xenoblade is destined to be one of those JRPG franchises that rarely REALLY ties in with itself. Just like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Persona, etc.
people pissed about mythra/pyra and it was like the best reveal for me on this pass considering we're not getting Geno.

They more than make up for the **** that was steve, minmin and seph.

Maybe it's just cuz I loved xenoblade 2 and 1 so much, and they certainly seem less complex than shulk so I'll possibly enjoy playing them. Likely found my next characters. Ganondorf, Ryu, and Now Pyra/mythra.

Hopefully the next two DLC characters are characters we both want. So far, only Banjo & Kazooie and Sephiroth were the only DLC I wanted and are satisfied with.
    L
    link2702
Well at least we both got 2 characters we wanted. Banjo for me, and now Pyra/Mythra. For both passes these have literally been the only characters I've been hyped over. Banjo more so, but Mythra/Pyra at least makes up some of the sting of Noodlegirl, Blockhead, and Mamma's boy getting in while Geno got screwed over.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
I honestly think it was someone high up within Nintendo or Square-Enix's fault as to why Geno didn't make it in. If it was up to Sakurai, I think he would have added him instead of Sephiroth.
another direct, another disappointment for ganondorf mains.

Yeah I know this is just the reveal of the new character, but honestly a patch won't be too far away, and we all know what happens to ganondorf during patches so might as well post my complaint now.
SO I might have ****ed up some how and lost my wife's character on ANimal crossing NH as I tried to transfer data to the new switch......
    R
    RetrogamerMax
    That really, REALLY sucks.
    L
    link2702
actually I was wrong. Seeing as my wife doesn't have an actual NNID to link up, I found out that I simply on the new switch just had to say "hey, this new profile on this system is for the villager here" more or less. So I just created a new profile for her on the new switch, and linked it to her old villager in ACNH.

So yeah it's safe. She didn't play any other game than ACNH, so nothing was really "lost" for her.

Now it's just time wipe all data on my old switch, then format the SD card for my new one, and hope like hell that Nothing goes wrong with that....
    R
    RetrogamerMax
That's good to hear that your wife's save file was accidentally deleted.

I can't tell if this is real or a very well done edit. And it terrifies me cuz i'm leaning more towards real based on the TASVideos link description. What kind of gods can do this with gameboy hardware...?
I just saw something on facebook marketplace made in 1999 listed as "vintage" and felt attacked.

As if I needed anything else to slap me in the face telling me I'm old.....
One thing I kinda wish games would do that let you change the voices from japanese to english(or more), would be if you could set what language individual main characters spoke, and also choose one blanket one for all villages/towns.

Yeah I know it'd break the immersion quite a bit, but it'd be kinda neat and funny. On top of that, sometimes the Japanese voice actors for some characters sound waaaay better than the English IMO(especially during battles), and vice versa. And if a game has other languages than japanese and english? that'd be even crazier.

Sure you'd never understand what most are saying, but that's what subtitles are for.
I really never figured out how JoJo's bizarre adventure got so popular over these past few years. Like...just randomly one day it started to skyrocket in popularity and stay there.
    S
    StoicPhantom
Its flamboyant and over-the-top nature naturally inspires meme culture and most people who got into JoJo did it for the memes. Popularity in general comes from some external factor, usually as a result of some social phenomenon, and not the inherent traits of the thing itself.
As a 90s kid, seeing clips of modern cartoons is so odd...in part because it often feels like the producers are trying to tiptoe that line of having gross and in your face adult humor similar to the early 90s shows like Ren and stimpy I grew up with, while never quite crossing that line that R&S created. After R&S created so much controversy(especially one episode that basically got them pulled from nickelodeon), toons got more tame up through the early 2000s which was where I ultimately stopped watching any cartoons.

Like....seeing stuff from the Amazing World of Gumball, or the regular show, i'm just like "damn they're getting away with quite a lot now again."
For literally the first time ever. I just got banned for no appparent reason online. I didn't d/c, I didn't do anything 'unsportsmanlike" in the matches, nothing, and yet right after the last one I immediately got booted from online and got a 41 minute ban.

    Wario Wario Wario
Likely case is someone reported you for DCing and Nintendo had to analyse gameplay to see if they should ban you.

You’re the one who always says “I don’t care if I get banned!”, so take your own advice.
    L

I already got punished for those DCs' and got banned for them. Why the **** do they need to ban me a second time a few days later for no reason?

To discourage further attempts I'm guessing. That's usually what "punishments" are for.
Repaired another radio. This time a transistor set from 1968(?) A normende globetraveler Tn6000. I don't have pictures yet of it, but if y'all are curious just look up that model. It had two dried out and blown electtrolytic capacitors. They were easy to replace. about a 15 minute job at best. The hard part was actually figuring out how to take the thing apart. I spent nearly the entire first day when I got it trying to figure that out. After that though i learned it was incredibly simple so the second time around it went quick.
You know, it kinda amazes me at just how much Nintendo gave fans with the snes mini release of starfox 2. Early concept art, an online manual that even encourages you to download the art, behind the scenes notes.

Considering how Nintendo normally is, it's incredible at just how freely they gave out all that information on top of releasing the completed snes game officially for the first time.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
I wish Nintendo would put the unreleased N64 build of Mother 3 on the N64 Mini if that ever comes out. I want to see this game come back from the grave like Star Fox 2 did:

    L
    link2702
    Unfortunately I don't see them ever releasing mother/earthbound 64.

The key difference with SF2 is it was quite literally near complete. Like...maybe one or two months, if not a few weeks ready for release. There were only a few small tweaks from the official version, vs the beta rom leak that had been roaming the net for years.

Mother/earthbound 64 on the other hand, was maybe at least a full year away from being ready. Nintendo would never release it in the way it currently is. Much like they'd never release the beta/alpha playable versions of OoT, despite how much fans would be drooling over them and willing to actually buy essentially a tech demo.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have the beta/n64 version of mother 3(and I'd especially love the beta/alpha's of OoT), but when they won't even release the official mother 3 overseas...well... the chance of them releasing an only partially complete version of the original n64 concept is never gonna happen.

Sadly, I agree. So I remember reading a article awhile back that had a translated inteview with Miyamoto, Iwata, and Itoi from back in the day and according to Miyamoto it was like 60% completed. According to Iwata it was like 40% completed. According to Itoi it was like 30% completed which I would go with his word on that.

Here is the link to that article:

I'm starting to hate sephiroth players more and more every day. At this point IDC how long it gets me banned, I DC on every seph player I find.

Not only do they counter Ganondorf, they essentially have all the tools ganondorf SHOULD have gotten.
    ZephyrZ
    ZephyrZ
C'mon man, don't DC on players if they aren't lagswitching or something. Its poor sportsmanship and just plain petty.

If you play a low tier as Ganondorf, you have to accpet goimg into a match that some match ups just really suck. That's just how it is.
    L
    link2702
I get that, and I feel like **** most of the time because of it. But I'm just really starting to despise the character to the point where IDC. I'm at the point where I'd rather face a skilled ice climbers or minmin player, and they arguably wreck ganondorf more than seph does.

Part of it is also cuz he killed my most wanted characters chances, and I've had to deal with smug asshole Seph players who see my player icon and gloat/teabag the whole match as well.

But it's also just cuz seph's kit is kinda what I would have envisioned ganondorfs to be in some ways, had they not kept pushing falcondorf on us, and it frustrates the hell out of me. His neutral special could with some slight tweaking to more resemble dead mans volley(level 1 and 2 can be knocked back and forth, level 3 the supercharged move from OoT)would fit ganondorf perfectly. His sword attacks, while using a katana and would need definite animation changes, could still work with his current sword, or far more ideally, if they gave him his trident(Yes I know pig ganon is more known for the Trident, but it's still a hell of a lot more canon than a sword only used in a tech demo for the Gamecube.), and up special instead of being multiple slashes like sephi's, cuz be a multihit charge in a direction with the trident(think how phantom ganon used it in the forest temple boss fight.)

The moves are still often slow and strong, requiring hard reads, but there's also several with huge range that are great pokes that opponents have to get around.

Basically if they still wanted ganondorf slow and hard hitting, but having a moveset that more accurately represented him....they could have given him something similar to sephiroth, and that's one of the reasons it pisses me off so much when I see a seph player.
I read a YouTube comment referring to the gerudo Valley smash ultimate remix as "angry flamenco", and for some reason I pictured Dark Pit and Ganondorf having a flamenco guitar duel/remix with their respective theme music...

This is what lack of sleep and alcohol does to me.....
RDR2 is quite possibly the buggiest game I've seen from rockstar.

I literally can't even get the game to get past the loading screen. 7 ****ing hours I had to wait for this to install...and it freezes with the yellow bar at the bottom only reaching about 1/4th loaded.

I'm seriously thinking of filing some sort of complaint with steam to get a refund, i've NEVER been so pissed at a game being busted before to do that, and i've played Bethesda's games before.

My new year starts off pretty great now actually. I FINALLY have a tube radio pre-ww2(least...pre-america joining ww2 anyway) and it's in such beautiful condition body wise, and inside only seems to need one new tube, and no other red flags. Eventually I'll take it apart, recap it, replace that one tube, and not only will I have a beautiful set in our living room that even my wife admits is pretty nice looking, I'll have a functioning pre-ww2 era radio that has a history none of my others really have.

SOMEONE was sitting and listening to this thing at one point eagerly wondering if their son/husband/father/grandson was coming home, SOMEONE was listening to this as one of the most important events in our history was happening. And now I own it. Now instead of collecting dust in some attic, farm building or garage, this piece of history will be repaired and listened to once again. And while there's not too much to really listen to on shortwave and AM anymore, this will still be used at least once a week.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
That's really cool. I remember my grandma telling me that my late great grandmother remembers my late uncle taking his first steps as a baby when she heard the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor on the radio in 1941.
    L
    link2702
    I've now got more information

I DID take a look under the chassis. i'm in absolute shock right now. someone DID already fix this. It has been fully recapped. I'm in shock because I Quite literally got a 1940 radio, fully restored by someone, for $40 dollars.

My new years just got so amazing IDEK how to really react.

There is a slight disappointment in knowing I wasn't the one to revive this, someone else had already been under it and got to experience it firsthand knowing they were handling something that hadn't been touched since the war. But on the otehr hand, ALL work was done for me, and working on a set this complicated is a pretty big challenge, a challenge I don't have to partake in now.
and once again I got paired against some asshole with items now, and once again Nintendo punishes me because i refuse to play with a ruleset that isn't remotely close to my preferred settings. Because of how many jackasses i've ran into lately with items on, I've now got a 1 hour and 10 minute ban. To say this is bull**** from nintendo would be an understatement.
    R
    RetrogamerMax
The other day, I was playing one on one with a no items rule set playing as Ridley on Elite Smash and the game put me in a match with a rule set with the normal stage settings on and items. The game put me and this another guy in Brinstar Depths and the match lagged like hell. There was a point where we both had one stock left and the other dude was at the bottom of the stage and I was at the top. We both stayed where we were and than the game cut me off giving me a message not to harass or bully others only because I didn't wanted to go down there and give this guy a cheap victory on the small platform at the bottom of the stage? That's bull****!
    ZephyrZ
    ZephyrZ
I don't think they're wrong for turning on items if that's how they prefer to play, its just the matching system that sucks.

Preferred rules was a terrible idea from the start.
It really is crazy how much your taste buds change from when you were a kid, to as an adult.

Mayonnaise when I was a kid? Disgusting. Avocados? Couldn't stand them. Onions? Hated them. Broccoli and cauliflower....I actually liked those two.

As an adult? Things reversed. I can't even stand the smell of broccoli or cauliflower now. And yet Mayo, avocados, onions, all of them I either love em now, or like em just enough that if the meal comes with them I'm perfectly fine with it.
i have absolutely no issue dcing on someone who uses a bull**** ruleset in quickplay. If you put items on, or two stock only with a short timer, expect a DC. My settings say preferred rules for a reason, when nintendo ****s me over like this and puts me in a match that isn't even remotely close to my settings, IDC if i get a temporary ban, ensuring my opponent does not win any GSP whatsoever from that match is more important.

We all thought for glory in 4 was pretty poorly designed, but at least it didn't try to **** you over and put you in types of matches you didn't sign up for. What you saw was what you got. Not only that but since wii u's online was free it was also a little more forgivable.
it's a good thing I got a new switch recently cuz I got very very VERY close to smashing my old one across the wall cuz the joycons keep disconnecting and drifting all the time midgame.

I've lost about 10 different matches I shouldn't have today because it decided to randomly disconnect in handheld mode and I had to quickly disconnect it then reconnect it...multiple times sometimes in one match.

Only reason I hadn't transferred my data yet was I figured I'd wait just a few more days. But at this point it's causing me enough frustration that it might be better to do it now and save myself from having to patch a hole in the wall.

Lol didn't everyone complain about Ganondorf some time during Ultimate's release? Especially his Smash attacks? Then it's no wonder that Sakurai is afraid of buffing him, even though Ganondorf could use some buffs.
You know...there's still one thing about the sephiroth reveal that I can't figure out....

What is the reason to make him "playable early" through a challenge? and the day that this special "challenge" mode disappears, is literally right before he releases "officially" anyway? And the challenge itself is so forgiving that you still get to use him fully even if you win on easy against him? Why not just actually consider that day his release day?

The ONLY possible reason(s) I can think of are:

    1. The incoming patch that includes the mii's and character changes is gonna directly nerf him in some significant way(which....doesn't make sense because he generally feels underwhelming right now anyway from what I've seen by most people. *I have not purchased him so can't say for sure myself how he feels, but from what i've read online so far the general consensus is he's not great).

    2. The incoming patch is gonna directly buff him in some sort of significant way(...kinda makes a bit more sense, but at the same time...if his cpu becomes significantly more difficult to beat...it wouldn't matter since by then the challenge is over and he's just slapped right there on your select screen, no effort needed, so it also doesn't make sense.)

    3. They weren't finished with all the content yet for the full patch, but sephiroth was ready.(seems most plausible, but damn nintendo that's cutting it super close, I don't recall them ever cutting it that close before, why not just wait the few more days so everything is ready?)

It's late...maybe I'm overthinking it, maybe it was covered and I didn't realize it, but still this is the weirdest release out of all of them. It almost to me feels like a WoW Pre-patch even-...wait a minute.....

ZOMG NEXT REVEAL IS A WORLD OF WARCRAFT CHARACTER CUZ SEPHIROTH HAD A PREPATCH EVENT JUST LIKE WOW DOES EVERY EXPANSION!!!!111

if you took that last part seriously shame on you....though I certainly wouldn't oppose Thrall, The Lich King, or Illidan Stormrage in smash....
    Shroob
    Shroob
I think it's just a for fun thing.

Like, people who pre-bought the game got Piranha Plant a few days early, and if you bought Sephiroth, I assume they just... I dunno wanted to push him out early? Like, the event fight 'is' cool, like, really cool, and does line up with him being a superboss in a lot of games.

There's probably a more business-oriented reason for it no doubt, but maybe it's really as simple as "It's just cool".
    Champion of Hyrule
    Champion of Hyrule
Or how about the reason Sakurai literaly says
You know one thing after reviewing the Sakurai presentation that I don't think people thought much about was...when he mentioned the issues getting rights to music. Call me crazy or say i'm reaching, but I feel that might have also been a subtle message by him about copyrights in general. Perhaps hinting that you know....a certain blue caped star warrior was just impossible to negotiate for anything else other than the old costume on, since square wanted to push FF7 and promote the remake.

We don't need to blame sakurai here. It falls more on Nintendo, and especially Square.
So one drawback about working with antique radios, is sometimes you don't realize some of the harsh chemicals/stuff they used when building some.

Yesterday I was fixing a zenith clock radio I got awhile back. After having cleaned it inside and out, and changing the few capacitors it needed changed, I noticed a large pad on the top. Thought maybe it was some sort of shield to keep outside interference from messing with the tubes or something Didn't think anything off, scrubbed it and put it back on.

Today I finally found more info on this model.

That pad was to prevent the plastic from warping by the heat of the tubes since this wasn't bakelite plastic(they started using modern plastics by this point). That pad was made from asbestos.

Surely i won't have issues handling the stuff just once right? NOw that i know what it is, I'll probably use gloves and a mask before handling this thing again. Then peeling that thing off and finding a safer replacement.
Why does the new ghosts and goblins game look so damn cheap? It looks like a ****ty flash/mobile game.

I mean seriously capcom, I get that the pandemic has been bad but come on, we KNOW you can do better animation work than that. Hell, reuse sprites from the snes and genesis if you have to.
    Champion of Hyrule
    Champion of Hyrule
What’s wrong with the animation? It has a nice hand drawn style and everything looks right out of a medieval-era storybook, which is pretty unique as far as game artstyles go. I think it looks great for a smaller game, and they clearly put effort into the style
    L
    link2702
that definitely didn't look hand drawn.

Shantae is hand drawn. Wario land Shake it is hand drawn.

That looked like they pasted his arms and legs over his torso in some cheap flash game tool. Like something you would have found on newgrounds in the early 2000s. same with all the enemies.

Everything looked cheap as hell, as if this was a budget cash grab mobile game from the start.
I really wish it's Geno, but my gut feeling is it will be someone I don't care about.

But if it IS geno, then the rest of the pass I'll support whoever gets in next. Though after Geno I certainly wouldn't mind Shantae....
How pathetic do you have to be to steal roughly less than 45 feet of cheap electrical wire?

I used that wire as a cheap antenna for a portable SW radio I have. I just throw it in a tree at work and listen in on my lunch break in my car. It allows me to faintly pick up some international SW stations, notably the BBC in the Ascension islands, amateur radio, and more easily pick up aircraft radio.

Today at lunch I didn't pull the wire down as i was in a hurry, and planned to just get it down after my last 15 minute break, and since the area I work in allows me a good view of it, on top of it being...literally just cheap wire, I didn't think someone would be ballzy enough to steal it. I was wrong. As I'm helping customers at my register I see a new blue mustang pull up, music as loud as possible, go right over and yank the wire out and put it in his car.

I couldn't do anything since I can't leave my register.

I suppose I should be thankful they didn't look in my car and try to break into it(though had that happened, i would have rushed out there and a fight would have ensued, regardless of whether I was left standing or not), as that had far more in it that was worth more. But still....the fact that these assholes knew it wasn't just a random wire(it had a connector I soldered on it's end), and decided "we're gonna steal it" pisses me off. Like really, you idiots really gonna steal roughly 17$ of wire+a connector....? seriously? don't y'all dumbasses have anything better to do?
Name a TV show pre 2000s you enjoyed but could never work in today's world, and give a reason why. Also let's just avoid this being a constant repeat of "Friends" as the reply, think of something else, and not the easiest one imaginable. Show can be animated or live.

I'll start. Three's Company. TV show from the 70s about a man who is an excellent cook, pretending to be gay so as not to get kicked out of an apartment by the landlord that doesn't want people having sex in his building. The building he stumbled into has two women tenants already who CAN'T cook and quickly take him in for his cooking skills alone.

The show constantly uses homosexuality as a gag, as well as constantly brings in very sexualized other women that he tries to make out with, (since the two living there he has no interest in, and they have no interest in him other than for cooking) without the landlord finding out. One of the female tenants is the stereotypical "dumb blonde."

Obviously a show like this couldn't work today with how it portrays homosexuality as a joke, as well as constantly using the blonde jokes.

Sorry, animation nerd side coming out here. That's technically true, but Ren & Stimpy wasn't made with the intention of being a show for adults, it was made with kids in mind, but just had a LOT of adult humour, arguably more than kid-friendly jokes - there was an adults-only Ren & Stimpy spin-off a few years later however and there's another one in the works. That being said, there was a cartoon made with adults only in mind that aired on Nick for some reason: Glenn Martin DDS - which is arguably even more raunchy than R&S.
This is kinda frustrating for me....I've dedicated so much of my time to perfecting my ganondorf's gameplay...that I literally can not use anyone else remotely effectively, nor do i find most of the cast fun to play as. The only one remotely close to enjoyable to use other than ganondorf is Ryu, and i'm still total garbage with him.

Seeing as Ganondorf is still one of the worst characters in the game, I do need to have some sort of strong secondary, but I can't for the life of me find anyone that doesn't feel clunky to me since I've gotten so used to every aspect of ganondorf's gameplay.
The shoto's are one of the few characters in ultimate who received buffs that made perfect sense.

I don't think i'll ever understand what the development teams mentality is when buffing characters.

Like..Why the HELL did falco need buffs to his already strong Utilt, and aerials? Why was his up special recovery not addressed instead?

Why did they think buffing ike's Uspecial to kill so early in place of his Uair was a good idea?

Why did they think ness needed ANY sort of buffs?
hold up, which update allowed Ken/ryu to tank a full hit from Ganondorf's smashes and up tilt with focus attack?

For the longest time I remember that even an uncharged usmash or Fsmash from Ganon would destroy the super armor of the Shoto's Focus attack, but just now I faced one who not only survived a ganon Fsmash with one focus, but a Utilt with another.

Even though I still won, It caught me off guard since for the longest time those two couldn't really use Focus attack against most of Ganondorf's moveset since they hit so hard....
    still no buffs for ganondorf.

you clearly don' t know anything about where Ganondorf is ranked.

Just cuz you get unga bungad and walk into something stupidly telegraphed and predictable doesn't mean everyone does.

Most folks at the competitive level still rank him dead last, or near dead last on most ultimate tier lists. He's been the worst, or one of the worst characters in each smash game since brawl. The vast majority general consensus is still that he has no good matchups, only a handful of even ones(against other low tiers.)

Then how does someone with no good matchups manage to even win without his opponent getting easily baited?

you basically answered your own question.

The only way ganondorf really can win is opponents have to fall into stupid stuff. That rarely ever happens at higher levels of play, people don't recklessly run right into his Usmash or Fsmash. Folks actually know how to tech his grounded side special, they can wall tech his recovery and then punish him.

Don't do anything stupid or reckless against ganondorf, and he can't do much at all. Rushdowns can overwhelm him being so much faster and having way better frame data. Campy/projectile based character just camp him out. He literally can't do anything against a wall of projectiles.
I just tried to play RE6....I lost interest before even completing the the introductory/tutorial section....

I've never been the biggest RE fan, but I liked what I played of the older games. Obviously like many folks 4 was my favorite, and the remake of 2 on pc is amazing, I got it when I built this pc, and I loved every minute of it(...while also dreading every step I took never knowing what was lurking near by.)

I got them all on sale from steam a few days ago. Not playing em in order honestly. Started a bit with 0, then 1's gcn remake, then 4 again, all to just test em out and see how they played.

And then I got to 6 tonight... And it feels nothing like a RE game at all. At no point did I feel any sort of dread or nervousness, definitely no fear. It was just one quick time event after the other, and was more action based than survival horror.

Anyone who's played farther...does it get better? Does it actually start to feel "scary" at some point? Cuz that opening sequence sure didn't give me the impression it would.

No, not really. It's pretty much kinda agreed that it's not a very good game IIRC. At the very least, 5 wasn't scary, but it was pretty fun if you had a co-op partner.... I haven't heard much praise for 6 outside of the Leon levels.

6 is kind of a low point in the series, it and 0 are generally regarded as not good™ . At the bright side things can only get better from here since the rest of the series is better than those two games.
