  • So I definitely want to beat every route in Fire Emblem Three Houses but the idea of me playing the church of seiros route makes... uncomfortable

Like I think the Church in the game is very corrupt, and it would probably make me feel off to be fighting on their side. It’s probably because I’m an atheist, but whatever

Haven't tried the Church route yet myself, but I've put off my Black Eagles play through for months because I think I'd find it hard to support Edelgard after becoming so attached to Dimitri's character (despite some questionable decisions with his arc).

Don't worry about it. Without going into spoilers, let's just say that there's...new management running it by the end.
If Nintendo ever decides to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Zelda the same way they didn’t with Mario, I think they would make two separate collections: one containing Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, and the other containing Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, for about 50 bucks each

That’s because Nintendo probably made 3D All-Stars the way they did so they could get at least one main Mario game per home Nintendo console on Switch. So they would probably do something similar with Zelda, with Skyward Sword remake acting as the representative for the Wii era
So the eShop says Nintendo Switch Lite systems need detached Joycons to play Super Mario 3D All-Stars... Does that mean you can’t play with a pro controller or gamecube controller? I l could be wrong about this but... It it would be annoying if it was true

After checking, it does say in the 'Controllers' section of the table at the bottom of the page that it supports the Switch Pro Controller. It will presumably support the GameCube controller in the same way, though Galaxy's motion controls won't work without any non-motion control functionality (though the page does call the motion controls 'optional'), and I'm guessing they won't replicate Sunshine's analog trigger functionality in the same way as the original.

Oh, I didn’t even even know there wasn’t a controllers section, thanks
By complete coincidence, my disc for Super Mario Galaxy stopped working, yet my Super Mario Galaxy 2 is perfectly fine... I’m lucky 2 isn’t the one that still works so I can actually play it...
Today I saw a video where someone said Dr. Wily should be the next Mega Man rep. That's a fine idea and all
(but personally I would have preferred Proto Man) However, what's weird here is how the person justified it. They said it's because Dr. Wily would represent the robot masters. by using their weapons... Um you realize Mega Man already uses the robot master weapons? I think they're already represented enough...

Dr. Wily would be cool, but personally and honestly I think the next Mega Man rep undoubtedly should be Zero.

I do too, Proto Man was my pick for just Mega Man, not X. Preferably as an echo or semi-echo. Roll could work as an echo too but she’s not really playable in any of the original NES Mega Man games.

My picks for another Mega Man rep would be Zero, X, or Roll myself. Although my idea for a fighter that could represent the Robot Masters would obviously be a Robot Master themselves, although Dr. Wily would be a hoot to play as.
World of Light: Has huge worlds with tons of references to gaming and exciting things from travelling the world and facing against the competitors of Street Fighter II to piloting the Great Fox in space to rescuing Peach from Bowser, each with interesting battles that challenge you while also reminding you about games you love, or even introducing you to a new series or two

Smash Fans: No not enough cutscenes! It's terrible!
    Shroob
    Shroob
It's not terrible as much as it is kinda.... tedious? Like, I enjoyed it my first time playthrough to the point I 100%'d it, but going back through it to complete my Spirit collection of base form Dracula and Marx... it was a chore.

As much as I'm not a fan of Subspace, it felt like I was playing a platformer/beat-em up hybrid through the whole thing with some minor puzzle elements. WoL was just >Pick strongest fighter >Pick strongest spirits >FSmash to win unless they're a Legendary-class.

that’s because you’re playing it wrong. the game explicitly encourages you to use weaker spirits to challenge yourself, and if you do that, finding the right spirits and finding the right set-up to defeat a given opponent is interesting. what you’re doing is ignoring the games advice, choosing broken options, and then going “it’s not fun, it’s too simple and uninteresting” when you’ve gone out of your way to make it that way for yourself.

I'm pretty sure there's no right or wrong way to play a game to be perfectly blunt, and this has been argued to death countless times in the past.

I played my original run of World of Light with just autofill, but I ask you, what exactly makes it any different from the Spirit Board? It's a static spirit board with a few boss fights and a cool bonus near the end, but at the end of the day, it's just a Spirit Board. I liked it the first time, but it's just not fun to replay, nor do you really ever 'need' to replay it unless you're a completionist like me who wanted the base form Dracula and Marx spirit.

I don't even like Brawl and feel like too much effort was put into Subspace, but I'd easily put Subspace over WoL, if only because Subspace felt like something tangible, while WoL is just Fight > Fight > Fight > Fight > Fight ad nauseum until there's a boss.
My top 5 90s videogame commercials:

    5. Why can’t he be more like that nice Mario boy? (Sonic)

    4. Sonic 2 covers embarrassing bald spots (Sonic 2)

    3. Hey plumber boy! (Crash Bandicoot)

    2. Sir aren’t these tests kinda easy? (Metal Gear Solid)

    1. Something’s gone wrong in the happy go lucky world of Nintendo (Super Smash Bros)
Street Fighter 30th anniversary Collection isn’t great and all, but come on you cowards, you should have released Street Fighter 2010 and Street Fighter the Movie

I liked it. (aside from the ultra difficult Super Turbo AI where playing Arcade Mode on the easiest difficulty feels the same as playing it on the highest difficulty - not sure if that was the case in the original release) Then again, I had only ever played Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers out of the games in that collection, so everything else was new to me.
Where was Smash at the Democratic National Convention?
If Doomguy gets into Smash, what Smash decides to call him will probably be accepted as standard for most gamers.

Kind of similarly to how most gamers now think of Ridley as human sized

I agree with R RetrogamerMax . Smash Olimar is Kirby's height while Canon Olimar is the size of a small coin.

And where did the name Doomguy even come from?
    R
    RetrogamerMax
Plus Ganondorf is 3 times bigger than Link and Zelda in the Zelda games. Smash is completely inaccurate about canon sizes as if all the characters in Smash were their canon sizes the games would be broken.

What I mean is that wether they call him Doomguy or Doomslayer will probably determine what fans call him and think of him. It won’t canonically change his name, I never said that
You know what? I really like Super Paper Mario. It has a surprisingly effective story, addicting gameplay, and it does things other Nintendo games, much less Mario games, would even dream of doing

Nintendo: no. super paper mario bad because it has a too complicated story

Technically, it's Miyamoto's fault. It's definitely noticeable with Super Mario Galaxy 2 shunting Rosalina to the side in favor of a comic relief purple Luma.
    Mushroomguy12
    Mushroomguy12
Lubba was actually supposed to have a backstory in Galaxy 2 as well, presumably in the same style as Rosalina's storybook, that would involve him and the cosmic spirit (that blue Rosalina clone that would help you in the final game if you died too much on one level). Of course Mr. Gimmicky "I hate story" Miyamoto killed it.

"Oh yeah we'll just wait till E3" "Oh yeah we'll just wait till when E3 would be" "Oh yeah we'll just wait till August". I'm getting ready for day 366 (not 365 because leap year). Then people will be going M A D.
Instead of Ice Climbers being the "Black Box" rep, we should have gotten a generic 'Sportsplayer" who represents the old NES Sports titles. They sold very well, and are a big part of Nintendo history. It's a shame they seldom get referenced.

I would have preferred Mach Rider as the Black Box rep back in Melee over the Ice Climbers or even Ayumi Tachibana even though she isn't a Black Box rep, she was considered for the Retro slot in Melee.
The “Guess the Character” we got for ARMS would be cool if they did it again with a Rhythm Heaven rep
    Wario Wario Wario
    Wario Wario Wario
My choice would be Rhythm Girl, but I'd be happy with pretty much any Rhythm Heaven rep

It'd also be a little fun to do with an entire genre or company, but that could end up being a lot more divisive.

    RetrogamerMax
I wouldn't have a problem with them doing this for a Rhythm Heaven rep as I would be down for anyone from that franchise.
In my opinion, Roy in Smash 4 was the worst idea for a returning veteran ever
If someone is playing your Switch and starts taking a bunch of screenshots, you should legally be able to punch them
Whenever Nintendo makes an indie presentation, the comments are always filled with people wanting games that are clearly not indie.

    It’s very, very annoying
I really hate the “Quiet Kid” meme. I think people who struggle with making friends would rather be accepted, as opposed to being told everyone in their school is afraid of them and thinks they’re gonna murder people

Sure it is just a meme, but it sure doesn’t feel like it’s just a joke
So yesterday I made a status update about a weird dream I had involving Shin Megami Tensei... I’m thinking about it now and it’s probably because I watched Did you know gaming’s video on SMT at like 3am last night before went to bed.

I also found out there’s a SMT spinoff for VIRTUAL BOY, now that’s weird
I had a weird dream: Shin Megami Tensei was just as popular as the Wii in America. Basically anyone you ask has played a SMT game in the past. They even had it in retirement homes like Wii Play sometimes is.
I’m now 98% sure the Mario remasters will be announced out of the blue

    KirbyWorshipper2465
Given the rumors surrounding Jeff Grubb and August 17, I'm pretty sure that'll be the case as well, Monday announcements are usually on really short notice.

Of course, it's likely that Mario's 35th is such a big deal that he could easily carry an entire presentation by himself, since 3D World port's been rumored for a while.

I'm starting to think that they don't even exist at this point TBH. This situation reminds of Starfox GP.

People thought the same about Pikmin 3 port and said Paper Mario game, yet here we are.

Nintendo only having Paper Mario and a Lego set to show for by the time September 13 blows over would be uncharacteristically modest. Remember that Super Mario All-Stars had been rereleased for Mario's 25th as a special limited edition.
Today I found out there are actually people who say Castlevania shouldn’t have been in Smash because it’s a “dead franchise.”

I previously thought those people only existed in nightmares
Now people will stop complaining about Nintendo having one game for the second half of 2020... And start complaining about TWO games for the second half of 2020!
Melee, SM64 and Ocarina of Time... the Big Three Nintendo games I wish people would stop looking at with rose tinted glasses
    R
    RetrogamerMax
As much as I love those games, I wholeheartedly agree with you. People talk about those 3 games too much especially SM64 and OOT. Swanky Box seems to just talk about those two games when bringing up videos of N64 titles. Sometimes people act like SM64 and OOT are the only games on the N64 when they're so many other great games on the console that either don't get as much love or is just overlooked entirely. Majora's Mask I think is a better game than Ocarina of Time but critics and bunch of people would disagree. The Goemon games I would say are some of the best games on the console along with Nintendo and Rare's games and people would say "What are the Goemon games?". It's annoying how much attention SM64 and OOT get's as much as I love those games.

No critic worth their salt would pick MM over OoT. OoT was great for its time and had high production values, but didn't do a whole lot at the end of the day. MM's time system is a work of art that made the world more alive than most modern "open world" games and that's before getting into how it weaved its story. Time literally never stops in MM. It did pretty much everything OoT did and far more and there hasn't been another Zelda game quite like it as far as pure design ambition goes, except maybe BOTW, and to a lesser extent, Skyward Sword.

Star Fox 64 was pretty good too. I don't know if I'd call it underrated, but sheer replayability and tight design alone puts it above all of the "greats" and even though everyone seems to like it, I never see it emphasized that much when talking about the N64 era, other than memes. I can't think of many games that are so simple, yet so effective, even among arcade games.
One time when I was a kid, me and my friends were at school and playing some game where we pretended to be Super Smash Bros characters. I distinctly remember one kid was playing as his original character and when we told him "Hey! Your character isn't in Super Smash Bros!" he replied with "Yeah well my dad works at Nintendo and one day I'm going to work there and make a game with him, and then he'll be added in the future!"

So there ya have it, folks... insider information on the next Smash character! He'll be added... eventually
