This is legitimately heading in the direction I always theorized optimal Zelda play, especially Zelda tech, would look like.

In that regard, I would say so. It looks a lot less gimmicky than just a teleport cancel, since I'm not only using both, but the positioning is more consistent to setup, and it's likely one of the best Phantom setups when you combine it with this. The other day I was about to get something like Phantom > Cancel Ledge Trump > Dair > and I barely missed the Kick, which was sad.

I also have some where I ledgetrump them and they try to ledge roll to get away.

I really have to work on cancels on other stages. I'm really just a newbie when you compare that to Katy Parry's. I feel like I might be better on BF, but then he's also good at using them at SV (his best stage) and PS2, which are far more likely. A lot of people just ban BF, so it's really not that likely I'll even get to use them. He even knows a couple on FD and even stuff like Lylat, Kalos and Yoshi's, though they're all essentially the same and not as effective.

Centerstage Phantom + Cancels can cover a ton of options, like roll, neutral getup, jump and even waiting on ledge, since you can effectively ledgetrump them (into Phantom, and maybe other stuff). You can even setup a shieldbreak, which I've still yet to get.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the other cancel points play into Phantom. FW only telegraphing when you teleport and not where sounds like a good mixup in addition to the immediate danger Phantom presents. They wouldn't know whether to shield to avoid FW or try to avoid Phantom.

I'm not 100% consistent with it. The positioning is very subtle. Like I say, it's pretty hit or miss in that regard. If you want to avoid potentially killing yourself, best bet is dropping off the platform by drifting as far as you can, but then you don't get the same benefits.

It makes me want to really to try learn these things, but I just simply don't have the drive anymore.

These Marths never seem to know what's coming.

Literally any character could've fallen for that...

Right, but I noticed that a lot of these clips tend to feature Marth, who is a rare character for me at least. I just always imagine them being completely surprised when something other than the typical WiFi things happen.

Marth wasn't that uncommon, even pre-patch. They feel as common as Lucina on my end.
That setup is an automatic shield break if you're opponent does neutral getup and shield.
