I'm not an FNAF fan and they'd be some of the last indie game characters I want as well, but to play devil's advocate Captain Falcon had a completely original moveset and is one of the most popular characters for it to this date.

You aren't wrong.. Sakurai can make a moveset out of anything.. But I don't see how he could make jumpscares work

FNaF isn't impossible to make a moveset off - the pixel minigames, FNaF World and the general concept of an evil, stealthy robot bear who does children's parties are enough to build a moveset out of. I'm not even trying to play Devil's Advocate, I'm just saying Freddy could make a good Smash fighter. Not a FNaF fan, but even I could tell you it's more than just screaming robots (excluding the first game... Yeah, that's just screaming robots)
