  • ARMS? really? Waluigi's getting closer! hoping for Byte and Barq, or anyone but Twintelle really.

Not sure who I want to pick for ARMS. I wanted Springman since the beginning, but now he's an AT, so I'm thinking maybe Min Min Kid Cobra or Helix. Dr Coyle would also be cool.

I'm assuming with Spring Man, Ribbon Girl, Min Min, Twintelle, and Ninjara as an assist trophy and spirits, respectively, they'll be disqualified from being the newcomer, unless Sakurai breaks the rules and upgrades one of them to playable. I'd love personally to see Max Brass, but any ARMS rep is great to me, love seeing a new IP playable in Smash with a new stage and music to go with it.

I just don’t wanna see Helix. Min Min, Ninjara and Ribbon Girl are my top 3 choices
Fun fact: if you've ever seen that picture of a middle eastern fish and chips shop called "Frying Nemo", the picture on its' sign is taken from a Peta poster.

    That backfired, didn't it?
I never got why people worship the Falcon Punch, even in casual play it's an extremely laggy, situational move that any counter user can take advantage of.
Why is Hans Zimmer composing the new SpongeBob movie? you can't get Hans Zimmer for SpongeBob, it's GOTTA be public domain pirate songs.
Pikmin fans: Ugh, when will we get Pikmin 4?
Mother fans: At least you got a spin-off!
F-Zero fans: At least they still make merchandise for you!
Golden Sun fans: At least you got in Smash!
Mole Mania fans: At least you got a sequel!
Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls fans: At least you got a localisation!
CatRoots fans: At least your game was released!
Game idea: You play as a writer for a children's cartoon - your job is to come up with title card puns from a given theme, the more obscure the reference and the better the pun flows the more points you get.
I wonder if Sumo Digital ever regret adding the "Sonic Says" tips to the loading screens of Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing...
The MUGEN community is really bad at encouraging young creators, I was put off creating anything publicly for quite some time because of the toxicity towards my MUGEN creations - looking back on them, I'm rather proud. They had some fun concepts, like fighting ON the character select screen.

No one successfully convinced Ahruon and Orkimides to compromise anything for Card Sagas War. Result: we only got a demo out of the deal due to total memory issue.
I personally believe the worst Sonic game to be the 3DS port of All-Stars Transformed. It's extremely laggy and frequently crashes at the exact same point. I'd only recommend it to people who are interested in game prototypes.
I've said this many times, but nothing will ever be more hilarious to me than edgy teens saying they're "P.I." and "unoffendable" then throwing a huge hissy fit over kink art. Like, does someone you don't know getting off to a drawing of a fictional animal child from a video game farting really attack your fundamental values that much?
Normally Nintendo takedowns are followed by the announcement of a similar product, but in the case of the Dreams takedowns I have no clue what they could possibly be announcing - My best guess is that they just don't want Mario appearing on PS4.

Not once in the article does it specify hiring opportunities. The term "business opportunities" can mean making money just as easily. And considering they're using terms like "monetize", it's pretty easy to tell they mean making money.

BTW I'm done with this thread. At this point I don't think anything we could say would amount to anything but the equivalent of throwing pebbles at skyscrapers. Making it pointless to continue.

For real, no more replies from me.

Checked the article in full, they stated quite clearly that only certain projects are applicable for monetisation - while they never specified anything about copyrighted content, they wouldn't NEED to either because that'd be like saying the sky is blue. Also, I'd imagine creators could opt out of monetisation if they so desired, yet again, a case of "sky is blue".

    (yeah, ninja'd, I know)
The problem with Robot Chicken is that they often have really good comedic setups, but never figure out how to make a punchline other than just gore or sex.

The "Luke I am your father" sketch is pretty good mainly because it has neither of those two things.

Their Zybots sketch was also good and surprisingly wholesome from them.
My first Sonic game was Sonic Rush, which is a game I don't really think highly of (same with its soundtrack) - the first Sonic game I really got my teeth into through, was the Sonic Classic Collection on DS.

same here, but i think the ost still holds up very well, even though the same can't exactly be said for the gameplay.
I can't believe We Bare Bears got away with showing MissingNo. It's not even a look-a-like, it's literally a PNG of MissingNo off Google Images.

Now I think about it, wouldn't MissingNo technically be public domain given it wasn't an intended feature?
Marvel's newest superheroes are ridiculous - I'm extremely progressive and believe in a lot of "woke" values, but these characters are just exaggerations, as if they were made to mock the very thing they stand for.

I just want to forget that whole comic exists, both because the concept doesn't interest me and because I can't go anywhere on the internet without hearing about them these past days. It is getting tiresome.

Besides, I have other Marvel comics which I actually care about coming soon: X-Men/Fantastic Four by Chip Zdarsky and Empire by Al Edwign.

Both of them are probably two of the best writers Marvel currently has, and seeing how Chip Zdarsky already nailed the F4 with Marvel 2 in 1 I'm hyped to see him handling them again.

Edwing handling them will also be exciting.

Agreed. I felt more insulted than anything.

The names sound like they come right out of a parody book, never mind a serious superhero work. Makes Slapstick sound subtle.
If Sora gets in Smash, it'd be a huge missed opportunity to not have the DuckTales Moon theme as part of his tracklist

Well, even considering it was originally composed at Capcom, that would be easier said than done, considering it’s related to a cartoon-first character.
Can someone help me with a list I'm working on of "dependant" Smash universes, ones that have representation but based on cameos in OTHER games? so far I have:

    Policenauts
    Flicky
    Pulseman
    Marvel vs. Capcom
    After Burner
    Getsu Fuma Den
    Marvel vs. Capcom
    Shin Megami Tensei
    Final Fight
    Champion of Hyrule
    Champion of Hyrule
All I can think of is:
    Soul Calibur
    Mortal Kombat
    BlazBlue
God of War (and basically everything else that crossed over with shovel knight...)
So not really anything besides crossovers

That isn't what I meant, I meant series that have elements in Smash, but based on their cameos in other series - for example, the Flickies on Windy Hill or Mega Man's up-tilt representing Mahvel.

Oh that makes more sense. Now that I think about it, shouldn’t Rad Mobile be on there, because Smash 4’s tips (And I think it’s true for Smash Ultimate, I’m not sure though) mentions Rad Mobile as the first appearance of Sonic
I think if corona effects FP2 heavily, it will result in some 3rd parties being replaced with 1st parties.
I've been picking up PC gaming lately, and honestly the whole "PC Master Race" thing makes me utterly ashamed to be a PC gamer.

I don't understand the mentality, since it essentially deprives you of like 3/4s of games out there.

Many people are tribalistic self serving beings that are willing to put others down for their own good feeling. However it's also important to distinguish aspects of PC gaming culture that try to lift all gamers up. PC has emulators, easy modding, options, mouse aiming, usually better graphics and FPS, free online functions and probably some other things. A good chunk of PC players will encourage others to try PC out so they too can experience those boons. It's also good to understand that the PC-console rivalry has many sides that antagonise each other and create a big messy cycle of hate.
So I guess TL;DR people are complicated and each platform has it's upsides and you should try or use whichever you feel like regardless of stigma because frick what dummies think.

KirbyWorshipper2465 KirbyWorshipper2465 Almost all games are being released or ported to PC nowadays and it's become harder to justify buying consoles if you're a PC gamer, so there's plenty of room to be elitist about things. It's more that the term was originally coined by Yahtzee to poke fun at that mentality, so all these elitists unironically using this term as an elitist badge is really something else. It used to be a term PC gamers used to poke fun at themselves but some people (usually console refugees) didn't get the memo and started using it to denigrate console gamers.

I'm not personally invested in the console wars and just laugh at the memes.
A lot of die-hard anime fans say western cartoons are bad because they're "ugly", but honestly that's the whole reason I love western animation. Cutesy anime characters look almost robotic to me, like they were built in a factory, not born in a womb - while ugly cartoon characters seem more real to me, I emphasise more with a genetic disaster like Rango than a cutesy magical girl with big sparkly eyes and a skull physically unable to frown - but that's just me.
    KirbyWorshipper2465
    KirbyWorshipper2465
Not exactly a fair comparison either, since it's an atypical modern West movie production vs. typical modern Japanese productions, let alone movies (keeping in mind that they're becoming more comfortable with 3D films nowadays).

Although older fans of both of those sides of the industry aren't generally fond of their respective modern TV animations' aesthetical choices for the most part (aside from the more stylistic stuff), that much is certain.

Yeah, I get what you're saying - I just brought up Rango more as an example of ugly cartoon characters from a character design standpoint as opposed to thematically. I'm trying to make a response to a meme/Tweet about anime and cartoons' art styles really, with the original meme specifically bringing up Big Mouth

I personally prefer animation in general. There’s more room for creativity, heart, and expression in characters
The Chuck E. Cheese controversy confuses me - have you seriously never had a pizza that's been put on the plate slice-by-slice before?
I've only just now realised how disturbing that whole saga between Leafy and Misha was. "Cyberbully Channels are Cancer" is certainly cringeworthy, but not in the way we saw it at the time.
