  • the old Thomas the Tank Engine songs are so good - while I'm not a fan myself I really do understand why so many adults like Thomas so much.
I'd say the most notable series absences in Ultimate are StarTropics and Tingle - I understand why StarTropics wasn't referenced in any form as it was a western exclusive, but I have not a clue why they'd neglect the Tingle series, especially since it was referenced in Brawl.

I think it was just forgotten about, they ran out of time before release, or they couldn't find "usable artwork", as typical of the inefficient spirits team.
if I ever created a popular, mainstream character, I would probably analyse all the "character holding sign" memes featuring them to critique how on-character they are.

"sorry, Sammy the Super-Squirrel would never use the term 'sick' as an insult" "Zooglegorp the Alien is NOT a trans ally, he is the villain after all!" "Karl Koala Jr. isn't an artist or fan of any artists and therefore has no opinion on the harassment of fan artists, a better character to put across that message would be Basking Shark Bertha, who is an artist and animator herself."

(note that none of these characters exist, they're just names I came up with on the fly.)

(I'd hate to be Matt Furie)
I'm so glad that when you play Miis online your foe sees the same Mii. it's fun to fight as The Fat Controller or Poochie or whatever.
I can only imagine what it must've been like to be a serious fan of Space Ghost when Coast to Coast premiered.

yes, there was a Space Ghost TV show before Coast to Coast - and it was an actual action show. not a good one, but still.

Not to mention Birdman not only getting a show about him becoming a lawyer, but a game based on it. Made by Capcom, no less. That era of CN/AS sure was something.
one thing that really annoys me in character design and art is certain body parts being significantly bigger than others - especially feet and ears
Smash needs more "literally whos" - not Geno or Mike Jones or Prince of Sable - no, I'm talking on the level of the cat from Catroots.

Morri-gosh darn it that was the second time I said that! But still, I love how Sakurai is culturing people with these characters just to tell them that the West doesn't own the entire Smash world.
can we please just mention that Galeem was willing to straight up kill and enslave dogs? not even just anthro/sapient dogs, literally real life dogs.
I really like the idea of the whole Spirit possession/fusion/whatever thing, but the only thing anybody ever draws with it is sexual - I'm not trying to shame, there kinda is something slightly inherently sexual about possession and fusion when you think about it, but I really want some variety.
the Banana Splits horror movie should've have the Splits as the protagonists instead of the antagonists. no joke, Bingo really looks like the sort I could see mowing down hordes of zombies.
Hideo Kojima is a fan of Minions and Nintendo's working with Illumination for the (second) Mario movie - I can only wonder how good the Japanese dubs of Illumination's movies are.
I imagine OK KO could've lasted at least one more season if CN didn't put all their advertising budget into trying to get people interested in Adventure Time again despite it already being cancelled.
I hate how the Kirby series seems to have magical criticism armour.

That more or less got chinks after Star Allies came and went. Well, that and Battle Royale. Granted, games aimed towards beginners are seen with different standards anyways, but I'm willing to recognize that it's not absolutely perfect.

Although it can be agreed that Kirby's Avalanche doesn't remotely fit the series at all, even Epic Yarn fits more than that. Also, Squeak Squad's only praised for its villains (except the last boss), even within the fanbase.
Woah, Captain Falcon is so cool! I bet his game is really dark with tons of lore!

oh, he just drives a little hovery car. OK then...

daww, look at little Ness - such a cutie! I bet his game is a really cute romp!

    SWEET JESUS WHAT THE-
idea: one of those "superhero school" type shows, but it takes place in a special needs school.

I'd watch it. 100% serious, not trying to be edgy, I really like this idea.
Nintendo and Sega both have those retro games they keep rereleasing that nobody wants: Nintendo's are Urban Champion and Kirby's Dream Course, while Sega's are Altered Beast and Kid Chameleon.
Mario Kart Tour is easily the worst game in the extended Mario franchise for the greedy mechanics alone. it's a mobile game so I guess that's a given, but Tour takes it way too far. the fact Sword and Shield got a major backlash for mostly small reasons but this was swept under the rug says a lot about Nintendo fans, doesn't it?

I think a lot of it boils down to two things.

    1) People already expect greedy monetization put of mobile games, but the NatDex getting cut took (almost) everyone by surprise.

    2) A lot of people don't recognize all the psychological manipulation that goes behind a lot of games, usually because they themselves don't fully fall victim to it. Only a small percentage of players usually do.

Honestly, I knew NatDex would be cut at some point. there's no way they'd fit 1000 creatures, each with individual stats and animations, on a single cartridge, or even disc for that matter.

I don't think it's a storage issue. Storage space is getting a more efficient as time goes on, and the Switch is also a huge jump in power from the 3DS, so that means there's a lot more information it can load and store.

However, there's still a lot of other issues with maintaining a roster of that size so I do think it's something more of us should have seen coming. I also feel like the NatDex may have ironically been one of the main things holding Pokemon back - we weren't going to see a huge gameplay overall if that means rebuilding every pokemon stat wise from the ground up. Not that Sw/Sh is bringing a huge gameplay overall, but it is an actual possibility for future titles now.
if Ryu Hayabusa got in Smash, we'd have to come up with some sort of nickname for him that's short enough to refer to in passing but different enough from Ryu. my choice is "Ry2" (pronounced re-two)

I mean, he gets called just "Hayabusa" enough in his own series to where we could probably just go with that. Then again we already have two Roy's on the roster (Fire Emblem and Koopaling) so it doesn't really matter.

Oh and it would technically be the 3rd Ryu if Hayabusa got in. At some point in the F-Zero anime, the Captain Falcon title gets granted to a guy named Ryu =P

It's a shame the Ryu from Breath of Fire doesn't get much support, otherwise we could get three of them.

    Haya. That's it.
Whenever I get a commentary video in my recommended that I'm interested in the subject of I look it up myself instead of watching the video.
YouTube algorithm is weird - one minute it's recommending you Barney taking a crap, next minute it's recommending you a compilation of RoboCop's TV edits.

I love it. A few months ago I got a 6-year old tutorial on how to properly make Kool-Aid, still works for me and use it all the time.
if Microsoft made a Smash clone, it'd be cool to have Windows represented in some form. Title.WMA or Canyon.MID as songs would be just enough.
how old were you when you realised "cult fandom" means "cultivating a fandom" and not "a cult-like fandom"?

Older than I wanted to be. I first noticed it with the Star Wars fandom... I don't like Star Wars anymore.
is it just a UK thing to have really mundane images for Netflix posters? like, the poster for Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus is literally just Gir eating ice cream off the floor. doesn't tell you anything about the film, just that there's a guy in a dog costume eating ice cream off the floor.

That does seem to sum up GIR - impulsive, stupid, dresses up like a dog, and will eat anything. ANYTHING. (Also, GIR seems to be the most popular character, but he doesn't do a lot in the movie, so that might have something to do with it)
