Don't take online so seriously. I just got bodied by an Inkling who actually knew what he was doing (for once, that's a first). Thing is, you can't react to have the crap because it's online. I know this, so it's no surprise you may end up looking stupid combo food for the next montage video.

Just focus on what matters and drop For Glory. Play against people who you'll actually be able to pick maps. Go on Discord. At least you're in the U.S and have much better ping than I do.

Yeah, I guess ultimately I was annoyed at how I played. I didn't expect to win against a top player, but I felt I could have done better, instead of folding like I did. My friend says Hbox was playing amazing that day and he thinks I got too nervous over the name. It didn't help that Jigglypuff is one of the few MUs I don't understand. I've gotten over it though and have been grinding in arenas.

I did drop it, I just use Elite as a warm up before going to the arenas now. I just happened to run into Hbox at the time. When you go on Discord to find players, do you mean the Zelda Discord or is there a general Smash Discord? I do find at least one or two players on my level every few arenas, but I might want to know if I can't find good players anymore.

I mean go on Discord of other characters (Smashcords, look it up) and practice what you need to. You're a lot more likely to find good people, or at least play on reasonable grounds (tournament ruleset,etc.). I'd never ask for matches on a Zelda discord, considering how I dislike dittos (and especially online).

Honestly, half the battle against top players is against their name in reputation. I used to really suffer that and it sucked, because I was honestly doing pretty well in spite of it. You could be beating Tweek and have the thought "im beating tweek" distract you and get reversed 2-0. Not even joking.

Oh right duh, it would make sense to go to other character Discords. I guess that's what happens when you tired post before bed. I'll try to look into it, after I get used to the new pro controller I bought. It's looking to take a little longer to adjust, than I thought it would. Been grinding the arenas though, I can find someone around my skill level, at least every few arenas. Even then, I'm still getting experience playing on the tournament stages.

And yeah, the name can be weirdly intimidating. He just exuded this weird pressure I hadn't felt before. It also didn't help that he wasn't paying attention to the match, and I picked up on that, which really threw me off. I just need more experience, I guess.

The pressure is imaginary. All in your head. More common than you think, too. Like I said, half the battle is against their name rather than their skill. If you focus, you shouldn't be getting outplayed so hard unless is very obvious (i.e constantly reading your panoc options and you lending in).

A friend does pretty mediocre in tournament, and he's pretty much my own level. We only practice together, but he never broke 13th even in weeklies. On my end, I'm starting to get within Top 5 more consistently. Part of the reason I feel is because he overstimates better-ranking people. He assumes "well they always rank better so they MUST be"...on the other hand, I need to see to believe. A result on paper doesn't always tell you the full story.

Watch top level player matches against mid levels or so. They do really well eother first match or for like half the match, but then you can see how they break down on the 2nd stock and end up getting 2 stocked.

If you say so, lol. I guess I'll start focusing on how I can focus. Might be time to get back into the meditation I briefly dabbled in a long time ago. Although, I'm sure with more experience that might happen naturally.

Meditation is really important, or any practice which can get you to clear your mind. It should always be you and your opponent, and nothing else. This includes intrusive ego thoughts, which I'm no stranger to.
