Lol I like that zenkai comparison. Yeah, I kind of remember that from back then, it took you a while to get your Switch. I guess four months have passed since then, it doesn't really seem like that long. I think I need a zenkai boost as well, I'm starting to really struggle against small characters and characters that have little risk and endlag. I think I'll try to finally learn to how to spot-dodge instead of just shield, I think there are a lot of things that can't be punished OoS, so I need access to moves that will hit those characters and moves that duck under our OoS options.

I also need to experiment with placing Phantom on platforms and in the air. Aerial and spacing monsters, like Yoshi and Greninja just completely total me and characters like Peach/Daisy are difficult to deal with when they float. I need to figure out how to deal with those types of characters that normal Phantom can't deal with. If I can shutdown their aerial movement, I'm hoping those MUs will improve significantly. Although, I think we might just be screwed on Greninja, that character is bonkers. It's just really difficult to do the drop down Phantom displacement on Platforms, I can't really comprehend the timing and I think putting them there normally will be too slow. We'll see I guess.

Only took me a month to get my Switch, thankfully. Far better than having to wait year and a half for my Wii U back in Smash 4 (though at least I could practice with friends and Bowser/Yoshi are far more basic).

I can help you with a lot of those. I tend to play fast characters and high/top tiers a lot, so I know how to fend for myself. You'd have to show specific videos and instances where you feel you struggle the most. A lot of what I do is somewhat mixup-dependent and sometimes less conventional, but it might help a lot more. I always see the parallels of when I mained characters like Bowser and Corrin, and how people always played more defensive but still struggled with a lot of these rushdown characters. Sometimes you just have to get hit. As I always say, you're going to get hit either way, so you may as well make them count.

Thanks. Mario has been a bane of mine since 4, for some reason I have difficulty fighting characters with no real major weaknesses or risk/endlag like that. I'll try to upload some tomorrow, I'm going to have to turn in soon. Although, I didn't play very well today at all, so the Mario one I recorded is going to look even worse than it should.

I'd say something that you feel is more of your general playstyle and weaknesses should work. If you're getting boddied and 3-stocked, then chances are it's always a frair representation of your weaknesses and you legitimately played super bad.

I always say people aren't taking advantage of the new mechanics. I take some things from the Melee players, which is simply to get out the way and whiff punish instead of trying to punish everything OoS like you did in Brawl and Smash 4. That's no longer as viable.

yeh it was my first zenkai boost I went from literally NEVER parrying to randomly start parrying a couple of times per match, as well as my first D-Air > Kick (after a platform parry drop). It was coincidentally the same day our best at the time started making excuses and asking why am I good all of sudden but also saying I "press buttons".

It's not usually bodied per say, more so I constantly get edged out and lose a lot of close matches. This is so consistent with these type of MUs that I don't think it's a coincidence or that my opponent just played better that time. I feel like I have lots of trouble taking the final stock. Fairly often I will get a quick lead and then spend all of that lead trying to land the final blow, as my opponent just goes full camp mode and just chips away at me.

Part of this might be due to the lag inherent to online, since I don't have a local scene and I can't travel several hours to find one, I mostly have to play online. I have a 300mbs fiber connection, so the problem isn't usually on my end. I notice when I play my friend's Inkling, it is much easier to punish than the typical online Inkling. But at the same time, while he is a good player, better than most I run across, he isn't an amazing player, so I don't think he is the best metric.

I just have trouble reacting and being able to read and comprehend DI and intercept things. That's also mostly why I'm trash at edgeguarding. There's something about the enhanced speed and mobility that I've been struggling to deal with. That also might be in part, due to the various diseases and physical defects I've been born with. I have a lot of autonomic issues, that really mess with hand-eye coordination, reaction time, and cognitive speed, so this might be an inherent disability, not necessarily something I can improve.

Regardless, I'll still see if I can find some of those specific MUs and post them. I definitely have to clock out now, though.
