I think I'm getting kind of serious about maining Rosalina at this point. She covers Pikachu's bad matchups (Ness, Luigi, Mario, Sheik kinda). But I do like Villager.

Good for you! I planned on using her before the game came out but haven't clicked with her. Might give her a shot again. She's pretty frustrating to fight... mainly because of Luma tbh. I'm without access to Smash for the moment but I'd love you play you when I get it back.

I try to avoid playing WiFi as I've found that it degrades my offline skills. But I'm down to play, sure.

That's respectable. I'd love to play more offline but my scene isn't super active where I am, though I believe there is a bi-monthly fairly close. I think I've gone to five or less offline events, SMH. I've only got one offline video to my name, and it's back from Brawl. Don't remember if it was a friendly or tournament match but oh well: https://youtu.be/u8yOElc_9xc

I'd like to say I've improved since then but it's hard to say transitioning from game to game. I'm fairly certain my spacing has improved, at any rate. I do remember that the Snake player wasn't very good though.

Yeah, I often don't have the time to go to tournaments, though lately I have had some free time to lab it up. I never played Brawl competitively, either (I thought that the game was too slow).

Also, my Rosalina is probably the most aggressive Rosalina to ever exist.
Kofu
Kofu
Aggressive Rosa, huh? Sounds interesting for sure.

You main Villager now?
Kofu
Kofu
Huh? I've kind of co-mained Villager and Game & Watch since the game's release. There have been moments when it feels like I don't use him well but the moments when everything works are enough to keep me using him.

Ah, I see. Don't you get....kind of tired of playing against rushdown characters with those two mains?
Kofu

A little, I guess, but in a lot of ways my playstyle has developed to the point where I almost find it easier to deal with characters coming at me than I do fighting characters/players who play a very defensive game.
Kofu
Kofu
Though there have been instances with players who actually know how to apply offensive pressure where I really struggle to do anything (most memorably with Samus players, oddly enough, but I remember a few with Fox and Sheik too). I'm sure my playstyle needs work but I wouldn't be surprised if Wi-Fi is also partially at fault.

I'm ostensibly a competitive player but truth be told I largely choose my characters based on how much I want to play them, not from competitive viability. I've used G&W since Melee and as a fan of the Animal Crossing games I was excited to use Villager. Occasionally some characters just feel fun to use despite them being bad (Ganon in Brawl, Dedede in 4) and I end up using them.

I'd be willing to try and find a more competitive character that I enjoy using and am good with, but I really don't know where to start.

Hey, ultimately we're here to play the game to have fun. Play who you want, I think. See how far you can push your character's metagame. Not everyone has to be (or even can be!) ZeRo.
Kofu
Kofu
That's more or less what I try to do. I use a lot of characters when I'm feeling bored because it gets stale playing the same characters all the time.

As for me, I want to win. Win all the time. But I also want to show people how creative I can be. So it's "win with some constraints." I wouldn't use prepatch Diddy for instance.
