Heh, it was kind of a surprise to me as well, but I ended up with the Modship anyways. It's not all it's cracked up to be anyways. Thankfully, the Yoshis are amazing and all I really do is merge redundant threads and sticky things.

Things haven't changed too much for me! I'm a bit busier now, but that's about it. How've you been?

I've been awesome! When smash 4 first came out in Australia I was a national threat, sweeping the first two tournaments I went to with Ness, but I'm on a gap program this year in Israel so since January I haven't been able to be a part of the scene haha. I'm hoping once I get back late this year I'll still be a contender :p
Luco
Luco
Is your Yoshi still a major threat these days? :D
Delta-cod
Delta-cod
Wow! That's pretty dang impressive. Hope Israel's not giving you Smash-sickness!

I don't even play Smash 4, unfortunately. I live in a pretty Melee dominant region, and the tournaments that are around are too far for a car-less college kid like me to get to. I just think about the game a bunch. I did go to one tournament and take third over the holidays, though, but that wasn't too impressive...

I still have my 3DS, so things aren't too bad hehehe.

Awww man, my region is pretty melee-dominant too, so I know the feel. How far is the next closest region if you decide you want to go to a smash 4 tournament? :o

Probably like a 2-4 hour drive, depending on specific locations.

By public transit? I'd guess around 6-8.

Luco
Gah, that's no fun. :/

Do you still plan on going to nationals and stuff when they come around? :o
Delta-cod
Delta-cod
No. I don't really like this game's meta, and I don't like Yoshi much either now. I don't place well enough to make going to nationals even worthwhile, especially considering I don't really care to see that many people anyways. If I wanted a social reason for going, I'd rather just arrange a trip with a small group of people. Nationals hold little appeal to me.

Luco
Oho, I wasn't expecting that! :p

So does this mean you're into Melee's scene? Or just fading out of smash in general these days? Not to ignore Brawl, just that I'm sure if smash 4 doesn't really have a scene there then Brawl would be even less so.
Delta-cod
Delta-cod
I've been fading away, yeah. I still know that tons of people suck tho and that I'd expose their fraudulence easily, however.
Luco
Luco
Oho, I can't wait for the meta to evolve to a point where the high-level players are REALLY proficient. :D

I'm optimistic about the meta, I'm not quite sure why. It might have to do with the idea of patching, or something else. :o

The meta as it stands sucks. Sheik's frame data is too oppressive, and Diddy is too pick up and play, as well as being incredibly powerful. It frustrates me a lot, so I'm taking a more casual approach towards the game.
Luco
Luco
That's fair enough. Though, if I may ask, why is it Diddy and Sheik that pull you away this time as opposed to MK in Brawl who it's safe to say was way more oppressive than Diddy ever will be. =P
Delta-cod
Delta-cod
MK actually did pull me away from Brawl. My activity and drive dropped off significantly around 2011 or 2012, I think.

I'm also older now and in college. This means I have less time and means to compete, so I can't just focus on grinding out a Smash game anymore. I'm more picky with how I spend my free time, and if competing is moderately frustrating, I just won't do it. Compare this to highschool me, who had nothing else to do.
Luco
Luco
Gotcha. Aside from my program, I still have a lot of free time, so I'm trying my best to commit to the game as much as possible. Even if MK in Brawl or Diddy/Sheik in smash 4 push me away slightly, I think I'll keep coming back for now. I'm too proud and satisfied as a competitive gamer, and any success I've had has just driven me to push forward even more.
