If you haven't played Smash 4 yet the best advice I can give you for now is find a way to play it!

Since you haven't played it all I can give you is some general tips like how the game's speed is somewhere between Melee and Brawl. (To me it feels like Smash 64's speed).

In Sm4sh, the ledge mechanics are different then how they were in the other games. For example now you don't 'magnetize' to the ledges from far away like you do in Brawl. The ledge grab box seems tighter to me. Not as tight as 64 though.

When you grab a hold of the ledge the first time you become invincible for a very short period of time. The ledge won't give you back any invincibility if you try to jump off and regrab it unless you stand on solid ground (such as a stage's platforms) before attempting to grab it again.

Also if you try to fall off the ledge and then grab the ledge again, there seems to be around a 30 frame limit in place before the game lets you grab it again. If you try to grab the ledge when the limit is active then you will just blatantly whiff it.

The ledge is really odd in Smash 4 and now cancels most characters up+bs, so sweet spotting is ridiculously easy now. If I was playing Mario and I used Up+B right next to the ledge, Mario would quickly ride the stage up and cancel his Up+B automatically to grab the stage.
