I'm not sure..I've never been to a tournament before. When is it?

I don't think there has a been a date announced yet, but I believe Protoman said it would be in August. If you've never been to a tournament before though, this is a good first tournament. Not too big, not too small, and everyone there is nice and willing to play and help out whenever. The first Smash Carolina back in January was my first tournament ever too, its a good place to start.
